Abstract: A method of notifying an operation state change is provided. A network is formed among devices that can be used by a user and that can perform network communication. When an operation state change of a first device in the network occurs, at least one device is sought which is currently used by the user in the network. Information regarding the operation state change of the first device is transmitted to the at least one device such that the information regarding the operation state change of the first device can be displayed on a display unit of the at least one device.

Abstract: A method is provided for warning mobile users of traffic conditions. One or more sensor messages are monitored from a plurality of mobile devices transported by a plurality of vehicles. A traffic condition is determined based on the one or more sensor messages. Location of the traffic condition is also determined based on position information of one or more of the plurality of mobile devices. The mobile devices that are within a predetermined proximity to the location of the traffic condition are selected. An alert message is generated in response to the traffic condition. The selected mobile devices are notified with the alert message.

Abstract: A communication terminal includes a transceiver and a controller. The transceiver receives electronic messages from another communication terminal. The controller responds to receipt of each of the messages by examining content of the message according to at least one defined rule and to control sound characteristics of an alert tune that is played through a speaker responsive to the examined message content. The controller may attempt to match text from the message to a stored list of words and/or phrases, and to control the sound characteristics of the alert tune in response to an outcome of the matching.

Abstract: In general terms, embodiments of the present invention relate to apparatuses, methods, and computer program products for presenting information associated with a real estate listing in an augmented reality environment. For example, in some embodiments, a method is provided that includes (a) receiving positioning information from a mobile device; (b) identifying, based at least partially on the positioning information, a real estate property; (c) determining that the real estate property is subject to a real estate listing; and (d) presenting, via the mobile device, information that indicates that the real estate property is subject to a real estate listing.

Abstract: A text message paging and ordering system utilizes a dedicated or shared short code to enable an establishment, such as a restaurant, to send pages to mobile communication devices, such as a mobile phone. Transmitted text messages sent from the establishment are associated with a short code, which allows the mobile communication device in receipt of the text message to send reply messages back to the establishment associated with the short code. As such, this provides a wireless carrier approved medium that reliably and readily enables an establishment to have two-way text communication with a customer or client to facilitate paging functions as well as ordering functions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of data processing, and in particular, to a method for processing data in a message. The method includes: receiving a message sent by a network side or another equipment, wherein the message carries data; identifying a data type of the data; and storing the data into a function module corresponding to the data type according to a corresponding relationship list, wherein the corresponding relationship list is a list of correspondence between the data types and the function module. Meanwhile, an embodiment of the present invention further provides a mobile terminal for processing data in a message. With embodiments of the present invention, the intelligent interaction capability between a mobile terminal and a user is enhanced, and the transaction processing efficiency of the mobile terminal is also improved.

Abstract: A system and method for processing quick note messages. A call from a calling party is intercepted prior to transmitting the call to the receiving telephone and prior to ringing the receiving telephone. A quick note message from the calling party is recorded. A quick note message waiting indicator is activated on the receiving telephone.

Abstract: An electronic communication system provides text or voice messages to remote receiving devices, such as cell phones or PDAs. The receiving devices include a function for determining a message priority, prior to providing any audible alert signal indicating that the message is received. If an incoming message has a priority that is lower than a necessary threshold, the function prevents the audible alert signal from being generated at the time the message is received.

Abstract: Automatically retrieving messages by a wireless telephone based on user preferences. A method of the invention receives a notification, on a wireless device, indicating that a computing device has a message for a user. One or more rules associated with the user are evaluated based on the received notification. The method also automatically requests the message from the computing device as a function of the evaluated rules and received from the computing device. The method further stores the received message in a memory area of the wireless telephone for rendering to the user. Alternatively, one or more rules associated with the user are dynamically generated by monitoring the user interaction with the wireless telephone.

Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for providing a user with an alert device that provides alert options indicatives of events associated with applications or actions of a computing device. The provided alert options may be such that they do not create additional distractions, and eliminate the need for the user to have to constantly check for upcoming appointments or events. Specifically, a user can utilize a device to receive alerts from an associated computing device. The alerts may be associated with applications and actions running on the computing device.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for managing a subscriber connection, the device including a mechanism for granting connection services to the subscriber connection, mechanism for monitoring reception behavior concerning predetermined messages conveyed to the subscriber connection, and a mechanism for controlling a further connection service grant to the subscriber connection based on the reception behavior.

Abstract: In one example, information is presented to a user in a non-visual manner. In this example, a list of visually representable items defined by a beginning and at least one of dimension of time and space is accessed. Each of the visually representable items within the dimension is placed in one of a plurality of non-visual sensory categories. A non-visual sensory preview is rendered, in sequence for each item in the list, from the plurality of non-visual sensory categories.

Abstract: Systems and methods are directed to monitoring the communications to and from a mobile communication device in accordance with one or more embodiments. For example in accordance with an embodiment, each of the data services on a mobile communication device may be monitored against rules stored in a central data center repository. The data services may include all forms of communications between the mobile communication device and a third party along with changes to application or data within the mobile communication device. An alert may be provided to an administrator when unauthorized data service activity and/or a message may be sent to the mobile communication device to prevent the unauthorized data service activity.

Abstract: A host service queues one or more data messages for delivery to a wireless mobile device, and attempts to authenticate whether a service session with the device is active. A session includes a saved login credential over a predetermined time period, where the credential was previously received and saved from a previous login. When the session is active, the host service sends the data message to the device via a wireless network. When the session is inactive, the host service sends a notification message to the router system over a previously-established connection. The notification message is subsequently forwarded by the router system to the device in the wireless network. After sending the notification message, the host service receives a new login credential from the device for activating a new service session, authenticates the new login credential, and activates the new service session for data message delivery.

Abstract: Methods and systems for triggering the delivery of a message waiting indicator (MWI) are introduced. In a wireless communication network, a radio access network (RAN) determines that a wireless communication device (WCD), such as a mobile phone, has missed an incoming call, and responsively: (i) routes the incoming call to a message storage system to enable an originator of the call to leave a message for a user of the WCD, (ii) waits a period of time after routing the incoming call to the message storage system, and (iii) then generates and transmits a message waiting query to the message storage system without prompting from the WCD. In response to the message waiting query, the message storage system may transmit a signal indicative of the message to the RAN. Responsively, the RAN may then transmit to the WCD a message waiting indication (MWI) indicative of the message, for presentation of the MWI to the user of the WCD.

Abstract: Techniques for providing a smart dial controller for enhancing a telephone voice call using a data connection. In an exemplary embodiment, a dial controller may be provided in a calling device for calling another user, and/or a called device for receiving a call from another user. Techniques are provided for both the calling device and the called device to access a content server storing profiles of the calling user and/or the called user, subject to user-determined privacy settings. Such profiles may include, e.g., multi-media information on the status, location, or preferences of the users. In an exemplary embodiment, the dial controller may delay the establishment of a voice connection pending user review and approval of the other user's profile. According to an advantage of the present disclosure, no modifications are required on the network side to implement the techniques described herein.

Abstract: A node of telecommunications network comprises comparing means for comparing current mobile station ID information with previously stored mobile station ID information. The node also comprises preparing means for preparing a notification message including both the previous mobile station ID information and the current mobile station ID information.

Abstract: Systems and methods use mobile telephones as input devices for recording audio messages on a server. A user inputs a first feature code into the mobile telephone and the feature code is sent to a mobile switching center (MSC). The MSC maps the feature code to a server and forwards the feature code and a user identification to the server. Once the mobile telephone is connected to the server, the user can record his audio message. The user can later retrieve the recorded audio message by inputting a second feature code into the mobile telephone. The second feature code is also assigned to the server. The recorded message is played after the mobile telephone is connected to the server.

Abstract: A method system and apparatus for enhancing digital voice call initiation between a first telephony device and a second telephony device is provided. Text data is associated with digital voice data conveyed between the first telephony device and the second telephony device, the associating occurring prior to initiating transmitting the digital voice data, the text data based on input data received via an input device associated with the first telephony device. The text data is transmitted to the second telephony device in conjunction with transmitting the digital voice data, the text data to be provided synchronously at the second telephony device with an announcement of the digital voice data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling users to listen to outgoing voice mail messages are provided. These systems and methods record an audio file corresponding to a voice message being left by a user during an outgoing telephone call to a recipient, link the audio file to contact information associated with the recipient, and provide the user access to the audio file through, for example, playback of the audio included in the file. These systems and methods may be implemented through individual communications devices, such as an iPhone, through a telephone communications provider, or a combination of the same.

Abstract: An approach for providing presence-based communication over a cellular network for a dwelling is described. A notification message is received over a wireless network to a mobile device associated with a user, wherein the notification message indicates generation of a presence indication signal by a device within a premise of the user. A registration status of the mobile device with the notification service is determined. The notification message is forwarded to the mobile device based on the registration status.

Abstract: In accordance with one configuration, a network communication manager identifies an expected duration of time to complete playback of the streaming content. Subsequent to receiving a do not disturb command, the network communication manager prevents visual notifications of future phone calls during the estimated duration of time to provide undisturbed playback of the streaming content on the display screen. Accordingly, embodiments herein support a do not disturb function in which a subscriber can prevent display of visual notifications such as phone call alerts (e.g., pop-up text messages) on the display screen during playback of the streaming content. The do not disturb functionality can be disabled in response to any suitable trigger such as that the subscriber has terminated playback of the streaming content, playback of the streaming content completed, etc.

Abstract: Methods and systems to examine, in one embodiment, content of a voicemail to determine whether the voicemail is message-less. An indicator that indicates the voicemail is message-less can be presented in response to determining that the voicemail is message-less. A method in an embodiment can be performed on either a client system or on a voicemail server. In another embodiment, a method can determine whether a length of the content of a voicemail is less than a period of time and can display an indicator that the voicemail has either no content or is very short.

Abstract: An item-providing system supplies items to a user device for consumption at the user device via communication infrastructure. The device may correspond to a book reader device or other type of device. In one illustrative case, the item-providing system may send a notification message to the user device to notify the user device to wake up and perform one or more actions. The item-providing system may provide scheduling functionality for determining the timing at which to send the notification message.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing history data of messages received from and transmitted to other users by a user of a mobile communication device is provided. Message history data is extracted from received and transmitted messages and stored such that a user of the mobile communication device may easily input a conditional request to the device and view message history data associated with a specific other user or message history data identified by conditional data input to the device.

Abstract: A method and radio communication system for the transmit useful information as a service to several user stations with at least one radio network controller, at least one base station and at least one user station. The radio network controller is connected to an access device in a core network. The useful information is provided to several users as a service, whereby the user stations of the users are informed before the transmission of the useful information. According to the invention, the notification for the user stations of the users at least partly comprises a request for a response and the transmission of the useful information at least partly occurs after receipt of the response.

Abstract: A system and methods for controlling a mobile electronic device is disclosed. A notification in response to a prescribed event is outputted. A change in a position of the mobile electronic device is detected. A strength of the notification is reduced, when a change in the position of the mobile electronic device is detected while the notification sound is being outputted.

Abstract: Voicemail systems can include a memory and a processor. The memory can store data relating to users. An incoming communication can be handled by the voicemail system, forwarded to another voicemail system, provided with functionality based upon a user's preferences, and the like. The voicemail systems can include functionality to allow a user to consolidate voicemail messages and/or calls at one or more designated destinations, for example, a voicemail system and/or a mobile device.

Abstract: A mobile communication system may include a remote communication system which may transmit communications to and receive communications from a plurality of mobile radios over one or more wireless communication channels. Each mobile radio may include a location sensing system which may sense the location of the mobile radio. A user interface within each mobile radio may receive a request from the user to transmit information indicative of the location of the mobile radio to a remote messaging system. A message transmitter within each mobile radio may transmit the location of the mobile radio sensed by the location sensing system to the remote messaging system in response to the request by the user over a wireless messaging channel. The remote messaging system may aggregate the location information from each mobile radio and deliver this aggregate location information to the remote communication system and/or to the mobile radios.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium comprising instructions for handling insufficient account balance of subscribers in a mobile communications network is disclosed. A request for communication is received from a mobile station. A determination is made as to whether a subscriber of the mobile station has an insufficient account balance. If the subscriber has an insufficient account balance, the request is withheld and the mobile station is notified by a short message.

Abstract: A method for exchanging content among communication entities over a communication network includes: checking for a trigger command along with the saved content in a memory of a first entity (510), identifying at least one second entity with which the content has to be exchanged (520), enabling a handshake message from the first entity, upon identifying the trigger command, to the second entity ensuring about the appropriate decoding block (530), converting the saved content of the first entity into symbols until a termination character is encountered (540), wherein the converted symbols are sent as deliberately terminated call(s) through a set of permissible unique identifier(s) to the second entity and translating one or more intervals of the duration of the call of the deliberately terminated calls (one Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)) or the unique numbers (more than one SIM) into unique symbols at the second entity to form a message (550).

Abstract: The present invention provides a remote notification to a user of a cellular, or mobile, phone as the result of a particular activity or any activity at all (e.g., an incoming call from a particular person, group, or just an incoming call). In one embodiment, a sensing device is provided on the cellular phone that communicates/routes an alert to a remote notification device. In one economical embodiment, the notification device may have a short wire-based communication channel (e.g., roughly 1 foot to 5 feet) and only have a single output device (e.g., a light-emitting device). Thus, a woman may be able to quietly receive notifications of a cell phone event when her cell phone is stored in her purse.

Abstract: A phone number only messaging experience is provided in an Inter-Carrier Messaging System service. Subscriber to subscriber digital messages containing user data are routed between carrier's networks using an Inter-Carrier messaging module with appropriate MIN/carrier/carrier routing look-up capabilities. Digital messages containing user data (e.g., short messages, email, digital messages in general, etc.) may be sent to a subscriber in another carrier's network addressed only with a phone number. If the recipient is outside of the sender's carrier network, the Inter-Carrier messaging module of the Inter-Carrier service provider (ICSP) determines the appropriate carrier for the recipient, appends the appropriate syntax to the digital message containing user data to allow internet protocol (IP) or other standardized communication techniques between message service centers of the two carriers, and routes the digital message containing user data to the destination carrier.

Abstract: A system and method provide for the immediate transmission of a potential alarm to a remote alarm signal escrow site and from the escrow site to a host station in the event where a control panel or an alarm signaling device is tampered with or destroyed by a disablement tactic, e.g., a “crash and smash intrusion.” A system and method may also send an alarm signal during such an attack by using predictive analysis of real-time events.

Abstract: A handheld wireless communication device includes features to send and receive text messages. The handheld wireless communication device is further equipped with a microprocessor configured to run software programs on the device such as text message management program. The text message management program displays a listing of a plurality of received text messages on a display screen and color differentiates at least a portion of the display-listed plurality of received text messages based upon a characteristic common to each received text message. The characteristic common to each display-listed received text message may be a host name that is included in an identification code for the respective text message's sender.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods are disclosed for enabling a telecommunications terminal to notify its user of the arrival of a message via an acoustic or visual signal whose properties are based on attributes of the message. A network infrastructure element (e.g., a switch, a private branch exchange [PBX], a server, etc.) receives a message directed to a terminal and sets the values of ringtone properties (e.g., tempo, volume, pitch, rhythm, etc.) based on attributes of an incoming message (e.g., the sender, a priority, a subject, the location from which the message was sent, etc.). In a first illustrative embodiment the network infrastructure element sends the message and the instantiated ringtone to the terminal, while in a second illustrative embodiment the network infrastructure element sends the message and the property values to the terminal, and the terminal plays a locally-stored ringtone in accordance with the property values.

Abstract: A method of controlling an operation of a mobile terminal having a display screen, and which includes displaying a plurality of avatar images on the display screen, wherein at least a first avatar image represents a first party registered in a phone book of the mobile phone; detecting, via a controller of the mobile terminal, an occurrence of the communication event associated with the first avatar image, the first avatar image having a first shape indicating a first action; and changing the first shape of the first avatar image into a second shape indicating a second action of the first avatar image to inform a user of the mobile terminal about the detected occurrence of the communication event.

Abstract: Geo-targeting may be used in combination with wireless alert capabilities to provide alerts to a more granulated geographical area. Disclosed herein is a system and method for performing geo-targeting for various alert areas such that emergency messages may be delivered to mobile and static devices of different types in a localized area. In an example embodiment, geo-targeting supports the delivery area for wireless emergency alerts by identifying the cell sites that are in a specified geographic area that have technology capable of delivering wireless emergency alerts. The components of the telecommunications system that support a wireless emergency alert system may be identified and mapped to any geographical area. The method and system of geo-target mapping may provide an efficient and more robust way of determining the telecommunication components to be employed for broadcasting emergency alerts.

Abstract: A system and method for creating and distributing messages including dynamic content is provided. In one form, an entity provides a plurality of content segments for use in building a dynamic message. The entity also provides a listing of end users to receive a message and information associated with the user, such as demographic or prior purchasing information. In an alternate form, the service connects to the user in a communication session and collects information from the user directly. The service then uses this information, whether provided by the entity or the end user, as the basis for selection of various content segments which will make up a dynamic message for presentation to the user.

Abstract: The invention proposes a method of peer-to-peer instant messaging and the mobile terminal thereof, which could make the mobile terminal to establish and maintain a list of friend users and update the connection status of the friend users timely. The method of peer-to-peer instant messaging includes following steps: receiving the list of on-line users with capability of peer-to-peer instant messaging sent by the radio network (S260); comparing said list of particular users with said received list of on-line users (S270); updating, according to said comparison result, the connection status record of each user in said list of particular users (S280) so that the mobile terminal could establish a peer-to-peer instant messaging with at least one user mobile terminal in said list of particular users according to said updated connection status record. The present invention enables the user to establish peer-to-peer connection more effectively and to perform instant messaging while occupying less network resources.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that allow for storing of data messages (e.g., text messages or multimedia messages) in a data message mailbox. If a data message is sent from a sender to a recipient, then the communication network receiving the data message attempts to deliver the data message to the recipient. If unsuccessful in delivering the data message, then the network stores the data message for the recipient. If the communication network later receives a request to retrieve the stored data message from the recipient, then the communication network delivers the stored data message to the recipient.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described for modifying control plane messages for subscriber sessions with a network device to add and/or modify discrete information elements and thereby conform the messages to different versions of mobile network specifications, including roaming protocols, executed by different mobile networks or by heterogeneous infrastructure elements within a mobile network. In some examples, an input network interface of a network device receives a roaming protocol message on an interface connecting a first support node of a first mobile network and a second support node of a second mobile network. A roaming protocol module of the network device modifies the roaming protocol message by adding or modifying a discrete information element to conform the roaming protocol message to a roaming protocol of the second mobile network. An output network interface of the network device sends the modified roaming protocol message to the second support node.

Abstract: A communication station has a circuit that receives an incoming voice call from a calling party, and an acknowledgement mechanism that produces an acknowledgement message sent to the calling party in response to the incoming call if a user of the communication station does not answer the call. In the examples, the communication station sends short message service (SMS) or multimedia message service (MMS) acknowledgement message to the calling party. Also, a scheduling mechanism may be provided for adding a calendar entry to a calendar implemented in the communication station so as to remind the user about the acknowledged incoming call.

Abstract: According to embodiments described in the specification, a method and apparatus for managing message notifications in a portable electronic device including a thermal notifier output device. The method comprises receiving a message at the portable electronic device; determining a notification setting responsive to receiving the message; and generating a thermal notification signal at the thermal notifier output device according to the determined notification setting. The thermal notification signal provides non-visual identification of an originator of the received message.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method, terminal and system for implementing a multimedia coloring ring back tone (MCRBT) service in IMS domain. This method comprises: after receiving a call from a caller, a core network setting up a connection with a MCRBT service system when the callee is called if determining that the callee subscribes the MCRBT service; said MCRBT service system triggering the MCRBT service, and sending an address of a MCRBT file set by said callee through said core network; and said caller downloading said MCRBT file from a media resource server of said MCRBT service system according to said address, and enjoying said MCRBT file from a calling terminal when a called terminal rings. The present invention can meet the requirement of the caller of enjoying the MCRBT file set by the callee when the caller calls the callee of IMS domain, and better services are provided.

Abstract: Techniques for sending communications with automatic address or device selection and content conversion are provided. A recipient and addresses and/or devices associated with the recipient are determined for a communication. A destination is selected and the format of the communication may be converted based on the selected destination, if necessary. The communication then can be sent to the selected destination using any of a number of appropriate channels.

Abstract: A method notifies of an incoming call or message in a mobile communication terminal, and using a short range wireless communication device. The mobile communication terminal generates a message having the information exchange format by encoding a message including incoming notifying information related to the incoming call or message to have an information exchange format and by adding an incoming notifying parameter set to be in a notification supporting state, and transmits the message to a short range wireless communication device set as an incoming notifying device through the short range wireless communication. The short range wireless communication device receives a message having an information exchange format, decodes the message, and displays information decoded from the message through the display by an incoming notifying popup, when an incoming notifying parameter is set to be in a notification supporting state.

Abstract: A universal phone number is provided for connecting to communication methods, including fixed line, mobile line, and internet communication methods. A communication group of communication methods may include multiple communication methods belonging to one individual or to multiple individuals within the communication group, such as a family. The universal phone number may be designated as the primary contact number for the communication group such incoming phone calls and text messages may be automatically routed to the communication methods in the communication group. The universal phone number may provide alerts to the multiple communication methods for notifying when incoming phone calls are answered. A universal voicemail box may also be provided for a scenario when the incoming call is not answered. Additionally, the universal phone number may provide the ability to keep the contact information for each of the individual communication methods private.

Abstract: An auto-reply service provides to callers event-specific audiovisual media messages that were custom recorded on the callee's mobile-telephony device. The auto-reply service selects the media messages at least in part based on an event schedule associated with the callee.
