  • Patent number: 8898578
Abstract: A system and method for generating a conference call within a social network is disclosed. The participants are all members of an affinity group and they communicate with each other using different social streams. When the stream becomes too complicated, a participant transforms the social stream into a conference call so that the discussion is held in real-time. The participant that requests the conference call is designated as a moderator. The moderator controls the conference, including the members of the affinity group, through a user interface. Once the conference is established a notification can be sent to invitees and other members of the affinity group. The notification can also be published on a social network.

Abstract: A wireless audio conferencing system has one base station and a number of portable parts each of which is able to establish a communication link with the base station. The base station is controlled to initiate and to terminate communication sessions with other communication devices over a communications network such as a LAN or a WAN, and the base station includes a DSP the implements a digital radio and system application functionality that monitors and stores certain operational state characteristics associated with the portable parts. The base station uses the stored operational state characteristics associated with each portable part to determine whether, at the end of a communication session, a portable part is connected to a charging tray or not, and if not, the base station operates to transmit a warning message indicating that a portable part is not being charged.

  • Publication number: 20140329511
Abstract: The invention relates to audio conferencing. Audio signals are received and transformed to a spectrum, and then modified by mel-frequency scaling and logarithmic scaling before a second-order transform. The obtained coefficients can be further processed before carrying out the similarity comparison between signals. Voice activity detection and other information like mute signalling can be used in the formation of the similarity information. The resulting similarity information can be used to form groups, and the resulting groups can be analyzed topologically. The similarity information can then be used to form a control signal for audio conferencing, e.g. to control an audio conference so that a signal of a co-located audio source is removed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for originating a call to a wireless number by a contact center while enforcing various compliance requirements. In one embodiment, a compliance server and a PBX cooperate to originate the call to the wireless number. The agent logs into the compliance server and the compliance server provides the agent with a wireless number to dial. The agent manually enters the wireless number using a phone connected to the PBX. The PBX queries the compliance server regarding establishing the wireless call. Upon authorization, the PBX establishes a first call leg to the compliance server, and a second call leg to the called party that is joined with the call leg to the agent's phone. Upon completion of the call, the agent dispositions the call to the compliance server, which then releases the first call leg. In response, the PBX then releases the second call leg.

  • Patent number: 8868685
Abstract: A system and method for a server to provide an early notification to a target group devices when paging a wireless device during a push-to-talk (PTT) communication. When a wireless device is ready to transmit a PTT communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a server that then sends an early PING message to a base station while processing a call request message from the wireless device. After processing the call request message, the server sends an announce message to the base station. On receipt of the PING message, the base station sends a paging message to all targeted devices while processing the announce message. The early PING message causes a communication channel to be established between a targeted device and the base station, and the communication channel can then be used by the announce message with less set-up time.

  • Patent number: 8861512
Abstract: A wireless device can initiate a network connection without using a network operator's home location register. The wireless device sends data to a server that defines a call request; and the server decides on the appropriate routing over all available networks for that call request. But, unlike a conventional HLR, the server can receive communications from the device using any one of several different protocols, and is not limited to the MAP (mobile application part) protocol. For example, the wireless device can use SMS or HTTP over the internet to communicate with the server. The server then determines the appropriate least cost routing.

A database is configured to store the first set of user contacts and the first set of priorities. A voice interface circuit is configured to transmit a voice notification to at least one of the first set of user contacts.

  • Patent number: 8825029
Abstract: Systems and methods for initiating a telephone call on a communication device receive, into a computerized device, an instruction to connect a communication device to a communication receiver using a call-in string comprising a call-in number and a pass code. The call-in string is parsed to separate the call-in number and the pass code, using the computerized device. A pause indicator is identified in the call-in string, using the computerized device. The pause indicator is formatted to a type-specific format appropriate for the type of communication device, using the computerized device. The call-in number is transmitted from the computerized device to the communication receiver. A pause is executed, using the computerized device, according to the pause indicator formatted for a specific type of device. The pass code is transmitted from the computerized device to the communication receiver.

  • Patent number: 8818340
Abstract: In a method data are collected about users of mobile telephones which are present within a plurality of defined cells between two specified points in time. For this purpose a list of telephone numbers of mobile telephones is retrieved from a data base, which mobile telephones were located in the defined cells between the two specified points in time. The list of telephone numbers is converted into unique numbers to avoid violation of privacy. Subsequently, the cells are defined in which the housing locations of the users of these mobile telephones are situated. This is effected by sending non-noticeable text messages to mobile telephones on various days at a number of different points in time at which most people are expected to be at home. Based on these text messages the locations of the mobile telephones are established.

Abstract: An internet-based conferencing system simulates the experience of Citizens' Band (CB) radio communications without the use of CB radio transceivers. Instead of direct RF links between participants, the CBI system employs a combination of user-resident application software, central server-based conferencing software, GPS location data, and Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. In the set-up procedure of the application software, the participant selects an alias CB-style “handle” and a caricature picture, neither of which disclose the true identity or location of the participant. Since the participants are known only by their alias and caricature, their anonymity is preserved, thereby enabling greater freedom of expression and interpersonal tolerance. Participants do not select the other participants in their conference, but are assigned to a virtual “channel” based on a selected conference category and proximity criteria, thereby simulating the serendipity of CB radio communications.

  • Patent number: 8811586
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for arranging a conference call with mobile terminals operating in a cellular network. At first, a group of the participants of the conference call is formed either by selecting the participants from a list saved in the memory of the mobile terminal in by inputting the contract information of the participants manually. In the next step, a summons to the conference call is drawn up in standard form. An application loaded into the memory of the convener's mobile terminal forms the summons, and sends the summons to the particulars via the cellular network. When a participant wants to join a conference call, he/she makes a call with the mobile terminal to the telephone number mentioned in the summons. An application in the mobile terminal of the convener receives the incoming calls and joins them to the conference call automatically.
