Switching Or Routing Patents (Class 455/428)
  • Patent number: 8134979
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless self-backhaul technique in a wireless communication network, especially in a WiMAX network, which implements wireless backhaul between base stations by using radio resources (frequency, sub-band or timeslot) of base stations' own. More specifically, uplink and downlink backhaul channels are formed between a master base station and a slaver base station using base stations' inherent resources and through offsetting the frame start time of the slaver base station for a period of time in relation to the master base station. The slaver base station operates in base station mode during local user access and operates in subscriber station mode during implementing wireless backhaul traffic with the master base station. Therefore, the slaver base station needs to switch between these two operating modes.

Abstract: A first communication channel is used by a communication unit for communicating with a base site. The first communication channel has an inbound link and an outbound link. The communication unit determines that congestion is present on the communication channel. The communication unit determines its transmission requirements and whether the first communication channel is capable of supporting its transmission requirements. • Patent number: 8107408
Abstract: Connection ID (CID) assignment in multi-hop relay system can be used to perform routing. Using CID assignment as routing information in a multi-hop wireless relay system to maintain the routing structure is disclosed. In a CID cache scheme, a base station builds a CID cache based on the upstream packet and broadcasts the CID cache to a relay station. The CID cache comprises CIDs along with routing information. Based on CID cache the spanning tree of the routing can be reconstructed. A hierarchical CID assignment is disclosed wherein a base station assigns a range of CIDs to a relay station. A relay station can recognize its data packets and forward them to corresponding mobile stations. Maintaining routing automatically along with CID assignment is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7974619
Abstract: Communications of a mobile station with a satellite mobile communications system and a terrestrial mobile communications system are coordinated. The mobile station is registered with the terrestrial mobile communications system and, responsive to the registration of the mobile station with the terrestrial mobile communications system, the mobile station is concurrently registered with the satellite mobile communications system. The concurrent registration may include implicitly registering the mobile station with the satellite mobile communications system, e.g., by storing information identifying the mobile station may be stored in a location register of the satellite mobile communications system responsive to the registration of the mobile station with the terrestrial mobile communications system, and maintaining synchronization between the two registrations. Authentication tokens may be pre-generated for quick re-registration with a satellite mobile communications system.

Abstract: A method for reducing unnecessary retransmissions due to transmission delays in a wireless network environment, comprising: measuring a packet inter-arrival time with respect to a received data packet; transmitting an acknowledgement packet corresponding to the data packet received at the packet inter-arrival time in excess of a first threshold time when the measured packet inter-arrival time exceeds the first threshold time; and suspending transmission of an acknowledgement packet corresponding to a new data packet when a data packet received after having transmitted the acknowledgement packet is the new data packet that has not previously been received.

Abstract: Provided are a mobile communication system and a cell reselection method of a mobile communication terminal. The mobile communication system includes two or more communication systems using different transmission modes and a mobile communication terminal connectable to the two or more communication systems. The mobile communication terminal measures received signal strength of a satellite communication cell when being switched to an idle mode, divides priority of a satellite communication system using the measured received signal strength and location information of the mobile communication terminal, and sets a first threshold value necessary for cell reselection of the satellite communication system.

  • Patent number: 7953526
Abstract: A control system is provided for automatically moving a machine along a desired path. The machine uses a “learn and follow” system in which the machine is first operated in a manual mode along a desired path. The control system learns the desired path and then operates the machine in a robotic mode to follow the desired path without operator control. If the machine moves away from the desired path when in the robotic mode, the location of the machine is corrected using GPS location signals.

  • Patent number: 7936866
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for routing query messages associated with prepaid subscribers in a number portability environment are disclosed. One method may include sending a registration message to an HLR. At the HLR, the ID or address of an STP is inserted as the prepaid SCP ID in a registration response message. The registration response message is sent to the MSC/VLR that originated the registration message. This action forces the VLR to send prepaid query messages to the STP, rather than to the prepaid SCP. When the STP receives a query message relating to call originating from the prepaid subscriber, the STP performs a number portability database lookup and determines the routing number corresponding to the called subscriber and the prepaid SCP corresponding to the calling subscriber. The STP then routes the query message to the appropriate prepaid SCP.
