  • Patent number: 7925290
Abstract: A system and method for providing high performance dispatch services for a push-to-talk (PTT) communication over a wireless communication network. When a wireless device is powered up, it registers with a server and then transitions to a paging state instead of an idle state. When the wireless device is ready to transmit PTT communications, it sends a message to the server and transitions to a transmission state when a confirmation is received from the server. Once in the transmission state, the wireless device is ready to transmit the PTT communications to the server.

  • Patent number: 7917136
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating call connection with a selected service center from a mobile node. A mobile node is provided with short dialing codes used in a network with which the mobile node is registered by SMS messages sent thereto, such as pursuant to registration procedures. Values of the short dialing codes downloaded to the mobile node are stored at a storage location, such as at a SIM card, indexed together with corresponding codes normally used by a user of the mobile nodes, such as the codes used in the home network of the mobile node. When a user places a call to a service center, the stored values are retrieved, and transposed, if needed, to ensure better that the call to the selected service center is successfully completed.

  • Patent number: 7899173
Abstract: Communication connectivity via context association is provided by associating targeted subscriber contact information with a key at a subscriber database. At a data center, the keys are associated with unique characteristics or aliases (contexts) of the subscribers, thereby facilitating context searching. A caller initiates a connection to a subscriber by providing a subscriber's context. The context is located and associated key identified. The key is resolved in the subscriber database, and the call routed. Use of the key allows subscriber connectivity without revealing, to the caller or to the data center, sensitive contact information. Through a caller database, call initiation occurs by subscriber alias identification in a caller's communication device; thereby foregoing inclusion of sensitive contact information within the caller's communication device.

Abstract: A wireless network includes a leaf node, which generates a data message. The data message is routed through infrastructure nodes to a gateway infrastructure node, which is coupled to a wired network. A wireless interface module is also coupled to the wired network and communicates with the gateway infrastructure node. Multiple copies of the data message are created in the wireless network due to redundancy mechanisms supported in the wireless network, such as redundant connectivity and redundant message routing. The multiple copies of the data message are received at the gateway infrastructure node or the wireless interface module, which identifies the copies and communicates a single copy of the data message over the wired network to a destination. In this way, the redundancy mechanisms supported in the wireless network are concealed from wired components coupled to the wired network.

If the home MSC is serving the number, the route manager selects a first route from the second network element to the home MSC. If the home MSC is not serving the number, the route manager transfers a second query to the VLR to determine if the visiting MSC is serving the number. If the visiting MSC is serving the number, the route manager selects a second route from the second network element to the visiting MSC. The first network element routes the call to the second network element, and the second network element routes the call over the selected one of the first and second routes.

  • Patent number: 7830868
Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for routing a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) call in a network environment including a circuit-switched (CS) network and an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network. When a SIP call is originated by a user equipment (UE) device in the CS network domain, call information associated with the call is provided to an application server (AS) node disposed in the IMS network. At the AS node, a pool of E.164 numbers are maintained as IP multimedia routing numbers (IMRNs) which are mapped to or otherwise associated with called party SIP URIs. The AS node dynamically allocates a select IMRN with respect to a called party's SIP URI received from the UE device and returns it to the UE device. The dynamically allocated IMRN is then utilized for routing the SIP call towards the called party.

Abstract: A soft switch providing wireless PBX voice services to a local area network (WLAN) is used to extend PBX functionality to the cellular domain. A dual mode remote unit is capable of receiving signals both in the cellular system as well as the WLAN. The cellular system is comprised of a data-bearing path and a voice-bearing path. When the dual mode remote unit is within the WLAN, it communicates both voice over IP (VoIP) signaling as well as session initiation protocol (SIP) control signaling over the WLAN. When the remote unit is outside the WLAN, it communicates voice signaling over the voice-bearing path of the cellular network using a standard cellular voice channel. In parallel, it uses the data-bearing path of the cellular network to transmit SIP control signaling.

  • Patent number: 7822017
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing secure signaling for voice communications over a public switched voice network (PSTN) are described. The call signaling is received at a first secure voice signaling gateway (SVSG) in which it is encrypted utilizing a security key. The encrypted payload is tunneled from the first SVSG to a second SVSG at a destination network element. The destination SVSG decrypts the payload and passes it on to the destination. According to the invention the communication can be either masqueraded in which the address of the first SVSG is given as the origin or non-masqueraded in which the actual original of the voice communication is retained.

Abstract: In one embodiment, accounting information for a mobile node operating according to Mobile IP Protocol is updated. A network device that supports Mobile IP composes a request packet for the mobile node. The request packet identifies the mobile node and includes at least one counter associated with accounting information pertaining to the mobile node. The request packet is then sent to a server adapted for performing accounting. The server then logs the accounting information for the mobile node. The server may then send a reply packet to the network device acknowledging logging of the accounting information pertaining to the mobile node. A bill for Mobile IP services may then be generated from the accounting information.

  • Patent number: 7817588
Abstract: A system for broadcasting wireless data service in a mobile communication system includes sending a request call for a wireless data service from a mobile terminal to a mobile switching center, identifying whether the terminal is registered in the mobile switching center, transmitting authentication code information indicating that the terminal is registered in the base transceiver station, and releasing the corresponding call in the terminal receiving the authentication code information and receiving the wireless service data. The authentication code information may include a Walsh code and a long code necessary for allowing the terminal to reconstitute the data. Through this case information, the system can broadcast wireless service data throughout an entire region and be assured that only mobile terminals storing compatible code information will be able to access the data.

  • Patent number: 7813326
Abstract: A Swarm Autonomous Routing Algorithm (SARA) is performed by simple communication node devices for node to node communications in a network, especially a Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET). Each node maintains a table of pheromone values for known neighbor nodes. Pheromone values are dynamic for adapting to a dynamic arrangement of nodes, and are updated either passively or actively. Routing tables are not used. When a node receives a packet, it uses the pheromone table to simply determine whether or not to forward (rebroadcast) the packet to a neighbor node, and if possible, determines and indicates the best neighbor node for next forwarding the packet. Destination Zone Routing (DZR) and Swarm Location Service (SLS) are alternative enhancements of SARA that can be used for more efficient routing when nodes are location aware/knowledgeable. SLS may also be used to improve routing algorithms other than SARA.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a radio communication method or the like, which contributes to the improvement of data transmission efficiency in a radio communication based on TDMA system (in particular, radio communication in accordance with IEEE Std. 802.11) by providing idle time between the data transmitted and received by radio communication terminals on a radio section. In the radio communication between radio communication terminals, data transmission efficiency is improved by reducing transmission time of header added to the data or by reducing idle time. More concretely, header is added to the data for each predetermined data transmission, for instance, and by transmitting the other data without header added to it, transmission time of header is reduced.
