  • Patent number: 9008658
Abstract: A method for obtaining physiological data from a medical sensor device includes detecting a proximity of the medical sensor device by an electronic computing device. After the proximity is detected, a message is received from the medical sensor device. A determination is made as to whether the received message includes configuration information for a wireless communication link. When the received message includes the configuration information for the wireless communication link, the wireless communication link is used to receive physiological data from the medical sensor device and the received physiological data is processed at the electronic computing device. When the received message does not include configuration information for the wireless communication link, a determination is made as to whether the received message includes physiological data. When the received message includes the physiological data, the physiological data is processed at the electronic computing device.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling efficient service acquisition on multiple SIMs of a multi-SIM device. After at least one SIM has maintained or reacquired a network connection, the wireless device may identify that network, access a joint acquisition database, and determine whether there is a correlated network entry showing a network from which service may be received on SIM-2. In this manner, the wireless device may automatically prioritize a network for a recovery scan on SIM-2, thereby overriding conventional priority given to the network that was most-recently-used by SIM-2.

  • Patent number: 9002355
Abstract: A communication device locates a preferable wireless service provider in a multi-service provider environment using a frequency band search schedule. Initially, the communications device registers with a less preferred service provider in a first frequency band. While remaining registered with the less preferred service provider, the device examines several frequency bands in the order specified by the frequency band search schedule. A frequency band is examined by dividing the frequency band into many sub-bands, and by locating the strongest signal above a threshold within the sub-band being examined. The examination continues until a second frequency band having a more preferred service provider is located. The communication device then registers with the more preferred service provider. The category of service provider may be identified and displayed on the communication device.

  • Patent number: 8995994
Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a first (home) mobile telecommunications network A5 second (roamed) mobile telecommunications network B and a third (virtual) mobile telecommunications network C. The virtual network C does not have its own radio access network but uses the radio access network of network B in accordance with a commercial contract between networks B and C. Network C is a MVNO. When a mobile telecommunications device that has network A as its home network roams to network B, the mobile telecommunications device initially registers with network B as the roamed network. Conventionally, communications between network A and network B would be transmitted via a fixed communication link (25) (such as a leased line). However, in the embodiment described, the network A transmits a command to the mobile telecommunications device, instructing that device to de-register from network B and to re-register with virtual network C.

Starting of information distribution by a multicast operation and identification of information indicating content are notified through a broadcast channel to a mobile subscriber. Through the broadcast channel, information necessary for actual reception of communication data is notified. In the mobile subscriber, a surround environment of the mobile subscriber is checked to determine the possibility of simultaneous receiving from a plurality of other base station systems. If possible, similar notified information is also received from other base station systems. Abstract: Multi-mode system selection (MMSS) enables a mobile station (MS) to prioritize MS preference for selecting particular radio air-interfaces (AI) across multiple standards (e.g., 3GPP, 3GPP2, WiMAX). 3GPP2 is developing a scheme MMSS-3GPP2 which is usually referred to as simply ‘MMSS.’ Other schemes exist e.g., proprietary ones (e.g., internal ePRL), an MMSS-3GPP based on the PLMN with Access Technologies of non-3GPP systems. MMSS OTASP messages and parameters are being defined in 3GPP2 to allow the carriers to provision MMSS parameters to the mobile device. With MMSS, the mobile can select and hence acquire cdma2000 and non-cdma2000 systems (e.g., LTE, WiMAX) based on carrier's preferences.

  • Patent number: 8886183
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing a terminal to attach to an access network. The terminal determines that the access network does not support a subscriber identifier used by the terminal, and so it attaches to the access network using an IMSI, the IMSI having been pre-provisioned at the terminal. The terminal, once attached, sends a request for a roaming IMSI to a remote node in the subscriber's home network. It then receives a roaming IMSI from the remote, the roaming IMSI being associated with the subscription and related subscriber identifier. The terminal detaches from the access network and then re-attaches to the access network using the roaming IMSI.

  • Patent number: 8874094
Abstract: An informing method and equipment for index parameter of access type/frequency of selection priority are provided. Said method includes that a Mobility Management Entity (MME) receives the voice capabilities and settings reported by User Equipment (UE) (101); the MME generates a Radio access type/Frequency of Selection Priority (RFSP) index according to the subscribed RFSP index, the voice capabilities and settings reported by said UE, and the operator's configuration policies (102); when the MME determines that said generated RFSP index is different from the RFSP index in use, it replaces the RFSP index in use with said generated RFSP index (104); the MME informs the Radio Access Network (RAN) of said generated RFSP index (105). The present invention overcomes the problem that the transmission of the new RFSP index in use can not be finished under the condition that the UE is in an idle state, the UE has no uplink data, and the MME does not receive the notification of the downlink data.
