Abstract: Disclosed are a radio communication base station device and a radio communication method which can reduce the interruption time of a service being received by UE while suppressing a resource consumption amount in an SFN area when the UE performs a handover from the SFN area to a non-SNF area. An MBMS reception request identification unit (127) judges an RRC message inputted from the UE (100). If an MBMS reception request is contained, an MBMS reception request is transmitted to an MBMS reception request storage unit (124). Moreover, when the RRC message from the UE (100) contains an adjacent cell reception quality measurement result, a handover decision unit (126) judges whether to perform a handover to the adjacent cell. The MBMS reception request storage unit (124) stores the MBMS reception request outputted from the MBMS reception request identification unit (127).

Abstract: A system and method for allowing legacy circuit switched user equipment (CS UE) to operate via a packet-switch system, such as an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) system, is provided. The mobility and session control aspects of communications with a legacy CS UE is separated. A user agent is placed in the receiving node (e.g., a home node B) that acts as the SIP agent for the CS UE for session control. An interworking function is provided to allow mobility between the macro CS network and the PS (e.g., IMS) network.

Abstract: A wireless communication system includes a wireless terminal and a plurality of base stations that can communicate with each other via a predetermined communication path that is different from the wireless communication path to the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal transmits a request signal to one of the base stations to request a response signal from another base station. The one base station transfers the received request signal to the other base station via the predetermined communication path. Upon reception of the request signal transferred from the one base station, the second base station transmits a response signal to the wireless terminal via the predetermined channel. The wireless terminal receives the response signal transmitted from the second base station via the predetermined channel.

  • Patent number: 8355724
Abstract: A handover control method comprises a step in which a mobile station measures radio qualities in a plurality of different frequency cells at predetermined measurement intervals and a step in which the mobile station, when determining that the radio quality in a specific frequency cell satisfies a report condition, starts up a timer for the specific frequency cell and, when the timer for the specific frequency cell has expired, transmits to a radio base station a measurement report including the radio quality in the specific frequency cell. The mobile station, even when a timer for a second frequency cell has expired, does not transmit to the radio base station a measurement report including the radio quality in the second frequency cell if a timer for a first frequency cell having a higher priority than the second frequency cell is running.

  • Patent number: 8346242
Abstract: The present invention overcomes the problem of S1 interface failure by redirecting user equipments to another radio basestation, or another RAT. This redirecting may be on a UE-by-UE basis, i.e. when a connection request is received, redirecting that UE, or may involve redirecting all UEs in a cell by broadcasting modified system information. The redirecting may be such that future traffic load, for example as caused by UEs performing tracking area updates, is minimized, by instructing UEs to redirect after a randomized period of time, or by locking the cell after a randomized period of time, for example. In yet further embodiments of the invention, the cell may be locked after a certain number of connection requests have been received. In this way, particularly busy cells can be locked sooner than would otherwise be the case.
