Abstract: A method, antenna switching integrated circuit (IC), and communications device that connect a transmitter to a selected antenna to propagate at least one transmission signal to the selected one of at least two antennas, based on feedback information associated with one or more antennas. An antenna tuning and switching (ATS) controller receives feedback information about a current status of an antenna tuner, wherein the current status of the antenna tuner is either locked or unlocked. In response to the current status of the antenna tuner being in a locked state, the ATS controller triggers an antenna selection switch to connect the antenna (that is associated with the antenna tuner) to the transmitter in order to propagate the transmission signal(s) from the transmitter to the antenna. If the antenna tuner is in an unlocked state, the ATS controller selects a different antenna that is not associated with an antenna tuner.

A wireless device has multiple directional antennas and multiple backhaul radio modules which provide point to point wireless links with other wireless devices. Each radio module can use any one of the available directional antennas to link to one other routing device. Antennas are automatically selected for each wireless device by merely setting one device in a “hunt” mode and setting another device in a “listen” mode. Devices in a hunt mode cycle through the available antennas by sequentially transmitting transmit messages to devices in the listen mode using each of the available antennas in turn. Devices in the listen mode also cycle through their available antennas by sequentially “listening” for transmit messages. A listen mode device, receives transmit messages on each of its available antennas, and, after gathering the relevant data, determines which of its antennas is best suited for communicating with the hunt mode device.

Abstract: Handling of integrity check failure in a wireless communication system can safely send the mobile station to the idle mode upon detection of security failure. Alternatively or in addition, attempts to recover from the security failure situation can be enabled without forcing the mobile station to enter idle mode. The mobile station autonomously transitions to idle mode when the integrity check failure is detected a certain threshold number ‘X’ times during a specified period ‘Y’. Whereupon, the mobile station initiates the Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection re-establishment procedure after integrity check failure is detected. In the RRC connection re-establishment procedure, the security parameters are re-initialized to provide a possibility to recover from the failure situation.

Abstract: A technique is described for use in a decoder configured to decode a series of frames representing an encoded audio signal. The technique is for transitioning between a lost frame and one or more received frames following the lost frame in the series of frames. In accordance with the technique, an output audio signal associated with the lost frame is synthesized. An extrapolated signal is generated based on the synthesized output audio signal. A time lag is calculated between the extrapolated signal and a decoded audio signal associated with the received frame(s), wherein the time lag represents a phase difference between the extrapolated signal and the decoded audio signal. The decoded audio signal is time-warped based on the time lag, wherein time-warping the decoded audio signal comprises stretching or shrinking the decoded audio signal in the time domain.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate broadcasting an interference level and adjusting transmit power corresponding to a reverse link in accordance with the interference level. An interference indication can be broadcasted on a broadcast channel in a wireless communication system. In response to the broadcast, mobile devices can adjust transmit power on the reverse link based upon considerations of the interference level. Further, mobile devices can evaluate an initial set point of a transmit power level during periods of inactivity.

Abstract: Techniques to search for signals while in an out-of-service state are described. In an aspect, a network entity may collect information for wireless devices within a designated area, determine at least one search parameter (e.g., a scan rate) based on the collected information, and provide the search parameter(s) to wireless devices within the designated area. The wireless devices may perform searches for signals in accordance with the search parameter(s) when they are out of service. In another aspect, a wireless device may collect information related to out-of-service events encountered by the wireless device, send the collected information to the network entity, receive the search parameter(s) from the network entity, and perform searches in accordance with the search parameter(s) when out of service. In yet another aspect, the wireless device may determine the search parameter(s) based on the collected information.

Abstract: Exemplary methods and systems for paging a mobile station are disclosed herein. An exemplary method involves: (i) before transmission of a page to a mobile station by an access network, the access network (a) determining a page-type of the page to the mobile station; (b) based at least in part on the page-type, determining whether to disable or enable page-concatenation for the page; and (c) if concatenation is enabled, then concatenating the page, and otherwise refraining from concatenating the page; and (ii) the access network transmitting the page to the mobile station. In an exemplary embodiment, determining the page-type of the page may involve determining whether the page is a voice-service page or a data-service page and/or determining whether or not the page is an intersystem page. Further, concatenation may be enabled if the page is a voice-service page, and disabled if the page is a data-service page.

Abstract: A system for and method of providing Short Message Service (SMS) message notification to a cellular telephone customer regarding missed incoming calls that are missed while the cellular telephone is unavailable such as when the telephone is powered off. This is accomplished by generating a notification message at a SS7 gateway that includes caller ID/name ID information and/or time of the missed call. The message is preferably generated at the SS7 gateway only upon receipt of an “access denied” response with a reason code of at least one of MS Inactive, Busy, No Page Response or Unavailable that is sent from a home location register in response to a location request sent by the SS7 gateway. Once the generated message is complete it is sent to a message center where it is stored until it is retrieved by the cellular telephone soon after registration with the cellular network.
