Ultimate Outcome Dependant Upon Summation Of Plural Card Or Tile Values (e.g., Blackjack, Etc.) Patents (Class 463/12)
  • Patent number: 6027119
Abstract: A method for playing a card game is set forth wherein a player makes an ante wager to participate in the game. A five card hand is dealt to each player and the dealer. The player's and dealer's hand are valued by determining the suit with the highest point value where Kings, Queens and Jacks count as 10 points, Aces count as 11 points and all other cards have their face value. If the player elect to stay in the game they place a call bet, otherwise they lose their ante wager and are out of the hand. For those player's making the call bet, hands are resolved where if the player's hand value exceeds the dealer the player is the winner, if the dealer's hand has a qualifying point value and exceeds the player's hand point value the player is a loser and tie point values are declared ties.

  • Patent number: 6017033
Abstract: A method of playing a casino game rewards a player for how quickly he can "lose". At the outset, the player is provided with a tote. A timer begins, and the player uses the tote to place wagers in the game. The tote is increased when those wagers win and is decreased when they lose. When the tote is reduced to zero, the timer stops. The time it took the player to reduce the tote to zero is measured against a standard, and the player is rewarded based on that performance. The method is particularly well-suited for use in amusement devices, such as arcade games.

  • Patent number: 6012719
Abstract: Card games that combine the play of Blackjack ("21") with a 3-card Poker wager or side bet ("21+3"). Each player places a basic Blackjack wager and an optional 3-card Poker wager before the cards are dealt. Each player is then dealt a card with the dealer receiving a face-up card. Each player is dealt a second card. At this point, the outcome of each 3-card Poker hand is determined, where a player's 3-card Poker hand consists of the 2-card hand dealt to that player and the dealer's face-up card. After settling the Poker wagers, the game of Blackjack continues in a typical fashion. The invention advantageously retains all the features and advantages of Blackjack as well as provides the dynamics of 3-card Poker, without interfering with the card sequence, for enhanced player anticipation and enjoyment.

Abstract: An image display game apparatus has a display screen which displays randomly selected five cards with their faces up. Based on the player's evaluation of the cards, the player selectively presses a first group of push buttons to select unwanted cards and indicate replacement of the cards. When the player presses a push button in a second group, the selected unwanted cards are replaced with new cards. If the new combination of the cards achieves a prize-winning hand, then the player wins and is awarded a credit based on odds for the prize-winning hand. The player then pushes another push button in the second group to receive medals corresponding to the credit. The image display game apparatus has an odds display device which displays a present prize-winning hand and odds thereof, a possible prize-winning hand and odds thereof, and other prize-winning hands and odds thereof in respective display modes, e.g., color shades, different from each other.

  • Patent number: 5947822
Abstract: A gaming device and method in which a player, after having enabled the machine with a wager, is exposed to a conventional blackjack or twenty-one display on a video monitor. The player receives two cards face up and the dealer receives one card face up and one card face down. The player then has the option of continuing to play the blackjack hand to its conclusion. Should the blackjack game be continued unimpeded, an award is based on conventional blackjack rules. This includes adding cards to approach or equal the numeric value twenty-one. Should the player instead embark upon draw poker, the dealer's cards (initially one card face up and one card face down) are removed from view on the video monitor. In this alternative, the player will keep the two face up cards that have already been dealt the player and receive three additional face up cards and then embark upon a game of draw poker.

Abstract: A method and system for playing a player interactive lottery type game includes a gaming piece which includes a predetermined code having data indicating whether the player wins or loses the game, the data being unrecognizable to the player, such that the player does not know the outcome of the game prior to play of the game. The code is entered by the player into a processor. The processor presents a game of chance to the player on a display for interactive play by the player, and the player controls game play by inputting game parameters to the processor. The processor controls the outcome of the game of chance played by the player based upon the code entered by the player. A display provides an indication to the player of a game win or a game loss based upon the code.

  • Patent number: 5531441
Abstract: An electronic video gaming machine apparatus is provided with a coin head or bill acceptor so that a player may make a wager to participate in the game. The electronic video gaming machine apparatus then displays to the player on a video screen two distinct hands at the beginning of the game. Each hand is dealt from its own separate complete deck of cards. Initially, a player achieves awards or payouts if one or more of the cards in the first hand match one or more of the cards in the second hand. Higher awards or payouts can be paid if the cards match not only by number and suit but also by position in each of the hands. These awards or payouts can either be flat amounts or all or portions of one or more progressive jackpots operated by the gaming establishment. After the matching awards or payouts are made, the player selects one of the hands to play by pressing buttons on the gaming machine and the unselected hand removed from the video screen display.
