Having Means To Alter Combination Probability Patents (Class 463/21)
  • Publication number: 20040185932
Abstract: A method and apparatus for varying win probabilities and/or payouts of a gaming machine as a function of the amount wagered by a player in a round of play is disclosed. In one embodiment, the probability of receiving a winning combination and/or the payouts for one or more winning combinations increase as an amount wagered increases. In one embodiment, sets of outcomes are stored in memory, each set of outcomes associated with an amount bet or a range of bets. The possible outcomes for larger bets represent a higher probability of receiving a winning combination or payout. The outcome of a game or round is determined by mapping a random number generated by a random number generator to outcomes stored in memory.

Abstract: The present invention is a gaming device and preferably a bonus round game of a gaming device that enables a player to initiate a randomly generated number, wherein said number determines the number of positions that a position marker will move along an enclosed path. Each time the marker lands upon a previously unmarked position, the game provides an award associated with that position to the player. When the marker lands upon a previously marked position, the game ends. The present invention also contemplates updating or changing the values of unmarked or unselected positions along the enclosed path by preferably adding to each unmarked or unselected position the value of the award of a previously selected position. That is, when the game randomly selects an unmarked position, the game provides the player with an award, wherein the game preferably replaces a previously achieved award with the award of the newly selected position.

Abstract: The present invention provides a gaming device having a game that may be implemented in a primary or bonus game. In one primary embodiment, the gaming device assigns an allotted number to each choice of a set of choices. The gaming device displays the set of choices for a first round. The gaming device prompts the player to select one of the choices. Upon the player's pick of one of the choices, the gaming device starts an award sequence for the first round. The award sequence generates choices and awards until one of the choices is generated its allotted number of times. Abstract: A gaming device such as a video based slot machine provides a player the ability to modify at least one parameter of the slot machine. The slot machine then modifies other parameters to ensure a desired house advantage. Odds, payout schedules and wager amounts may be customized by a player, and the slot machine automatically determines changes in other parameters which were not customized to maintain a constant house advantage. Software running on the slot machine uses an equation that takes into account pertinent parameters or variables such as size of jackpot, amount wagered taken in at each pull, and probability of hitting the jackpot at each pull. Based on the equation, the software adjusts parameters other than the one(s) specified by the player so that the outcome (the house advantage) remains constant with each pull. A player interface provides an easy to use method of modifying selected parameters.

Abstract: Conventionally, the same impression is given by machine bodies of the same kind even when any of them is played and attachment or preference of a player with regard to a machine or a game is difficult to produce. Therefore, a slot machine (1) according to the invention is provided with control means changing control of an attached equipment by individuals of the game machines such that individual difference is produced among the game machines of the same machine kind without changing control of hit probability. When the attached equipment is constituted by reels (3) through (5), the ROM (32) stores control constants for determining a timing of starting to rotate or stopping to rotate the respective reels (3) through (5) by values which differ depending on the individuals.

Abstract: A gaming machine offers a first base game to a player, in the nature of a spinning reel game. Three spinning reels spin in accordance with each play of the game. On the occurrence of certain winning combinations, constituting a triggering event, a bonus game is entered. In the bonus game three rows, respectively of two, three, and four playing cards, are arranged face down. A player is required to select one of the rows and then choose one card from that row, seeking to choose a winning card, such as a Joker. The respective odds of winning between three lines of cards are unique integer multiples of each other.

  • Patent number: 6398646
Abstract: A method and system for managing a Bingo game while allowing a repeat player to play the same sets of numbers in multiple sessions of Bingo. The player preselects numbers which he wishes to play in multiple Bingo sessions. The hall stores the numbers in the memory of the computer. On the date of the Bingo game, the player chooses which preselected Bingo numbers to play. The player is provided with a ticket having the preselected numbers with a control number for each set of numbers and a validation number for the ticket. The player is also provided with a receipt indicating the number of preselected sets of numbers bought by the player and the validation number for the ticket. When a player calls Bingo, the hall enters the control number of the potentially winning set of numbers into the computer to verify the set of numbers is a winner.

Using a standard communication protocol such as USB (Universal Serial Bus), the peripheral controller is configured to communicate with one or more master gaming controllers or other slot reel peripherals via a peripheral connection. The peripheral controller may drive the slot reel from position to position by operating the drive mechanism and may send operating instructions to other slot reel peripherals with peripheral controllers. Further, the peripheral controller may control one or more specialized “peripheral devices” (e.g., effects lights, back lights, bar code detectors, tampering sensors, position sensors, sound devices, electro-luminescent devices and stepper motors, etc. that perform specific functions of the slot reel peripheral).

Abstract: Multi-round game played on survivor principle. Survivor of each round enters succeeding round until one survivor remains. Retirees from each round may enroll in subsidiary game, the number of such games being defined by the number of positions in the set of symbols with which the games is played, e.g., a five-position set of symbols allows one primary game and four subsidiary games, all of which are governed by the same symbol-selection sequence. Each symbol-set which is active to the final selection is eligible to enroll in a summary game, in which a single winning symbol-set may receive a major jackpot, or all players may share in division of the jackpot. Implementation of the game involves data processing means for game-hosting and accounting purposes; and varied communication means for interaction between all parties.

  • Publication number: 20020034975
Abstract: A method and apparatus for using player input codes (e.g., numeric, biometric or physical) to affect the outcomes of electronic gambling devices, such as slot machines. The player inserts money into the slot machine and enters an input, e.g., a lucky number or biometric measurement, into a device attached externally to the slot machine. A central processing unit (“CPU”) within the slot machine receives the input and directs a random number generator to produce a random number. The CPU retrieves a combination algorithm from an algorithm database and then applies the combination algorithm to the player number and the generated random number to form a combined value. The CPU looks up the combined value in a probability table to determine resulting reel positions. The CPU looks up the reel positions in a payout table to determine the amount of money won or lost by the player.
