Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, and storage media for creating, discovering, and/or resolving spells using a wand are provided. In embodiments, a computing device or a wand may detect one or more gestures and sensors in the wand may generate sensor data representative of the one or more gestures. The one or more gestures may be movements performed using the wand. The sensor data representative of the one or more gestures may be converted into a spell sequence. The wand may transmit the spell sequence to a computing device, and receive, from the computing device, an authentication spell output when the spell sequence corresponds with an authentication spell sequence or an inactivation spell output when the spell sequence does not correspond with the authentication spell sequence. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Abstract: Geographic gaming via a scalable, wireless geographic broadcast protocol enables multiplayer gaming between communication devices without relying on traditional network elements. Games can be fully distributed over an ad hoc network of mobile communications devices. The scalable nature of the wireless geographic broadcast protocol enables multiplayer games to function equally well in both remote areas with no or little network service and in crowded areas containing both game players and other users of mobile communications devices. Wireless geographic broadcast messages distributed among multiplayer game participants can be used to control gameplay features and/or game elements of multiplayer games. Embodiments include simulated artillery battles, simulated throw and catch games, and simulated reconnaissance elements.

  • Patent number: 9675888
Abstract: Embodiments provide techniques for modifying story playback based on battery charge levels. A story that includes a plurality of actions and, for each of the plurality of actions, stimulus criteria indicating when the respective action is to be performed, is retrieved for playback. Embodiments determine a plurality of available storytelling devices for use in playback of the story and assign each of the plurality of actions within the story to a respective one or more of the plurality of available storytelling devices, based at least in part on a respective indication of battery charge for the respective storytelling device. Playback of the story is then initiated using, for each of the plurality of actions, the assigned one or more available storytelling devices to perform the respective action, responsive to a determination that the corresponding stimulus criteria is satisfied.
