Abstract: A crib sheet that form fits on a mattress. The sheet comprises generally rectangular top and bottom portions that are spaced apart generally parallel when form fitted on the mattress. A sidewall portion extends around the periphery of the top and bottom portions to define four sides. The sidewall portion is generally perpendicular between the top and bottom panels when form fitted on the mattress. A mattress opening defined between lateral edges extends laterally through the sidewall portion. The mattress opening extends along the length one side and at least partially along two adjacent sides. Fasteners on the lateral edges surrounding the mattress opening are operable to open and securely close the mattress opening.

Abstract: A top sheet having a fitted foot end and method of assembling a fitted sheet to a mattress are disclosed. The foot pocket has a foot end face panel that extends over a foot end of the mattress and a foot tuck panel that is tucked beneath the bottom surface of the mattress. The foot pocket further comprises right and left side corner panels that adjoin to both the foot end face panel and a top portion of the sheet to define a three sided corner that locates the sheet on the foot end of the mattress. According to the method the top sheet is spread over the mattress with the right and left side corners located on the right and left top corners of the foot end of the mattress and a foot tuck panel is tucked under the mattress to secure the sheet to the mattress.

Abstract: A fitted sheet for a crib mattress includes an elongated main body which defines opposite side sections and opposite end sections, respective end panels stitched to the end sections, the end sections and end panels being stitched to respective side sections. An elastic binder is stitched to inner edges of the side sections and the end panels. Abstract: A material for bedclothes includes first and second outer layers connected together at their peripheries, the first outer layer being made of at least two sub-layers connected together, one sub-layer being a smooth fabric material and a second sub-layer being made of a comfort-adjusting material such as a heat insulating material (fibrous batting). The second outer layer is made of a smooth fabric material (cotton sheeting). The first and second sub-layers can be sewn together to provide a quilted, non-smooth outer surface. The smooth outer layer is intended for contact with a person using the bedclothes.

Abstract: A fitted mattress pad for covering the top and sides of a mattress includes a first layer of material, a second layer of material and a layer of batting intermediate the first and second layers. The pad also comprises a skirt for covering the sides and ends of a mattress. One of the first and second layers is generally sized to a peripheral dimension to form the top platform of a mattress pad. The batting layer is generally sized to a peripheral dimension to form the top platform of a mattress pad. The skirt is an integral extension of one of the first or second layers of the mattress pad. The first layer, second layer and batting layer are joined together to form a unitary mattress pad.

The elastic segments are made of knitted or woven elastic filaments, such as SPANDEX® fabric, and can be shaped to have a straight lower edge and a curved upper edge, the curved upper edge advantageously approximating an end of an ellipse.

Abstract: A set of bed sheets includes a lower sheet sized and configured to cover the bottom portion of a mattress and an upper sheet sized and configured to cover the top portion of the mattress. First and second separable fasteners about the respective continuous edges of the lower and upper sheets are removably attachable to secure the upper sheet to the lower sheet in a manner which encloses the mattress. The upper sheet includes a top surface which is formed of a material to define a third separable fastener. A collection of accessories include a crib rail bumper, a head support wedge, body position rolls, an insulated baby bottle/cup holder and a liquid impervious drool pad. Each of the accessories is provided with a fourth separable fastener adapted for releasable attachment to the third separable fastener on the top surface of the upper sheet.

A blanket is sewn along its midline to the center of the sacklike device, defining two blanket halves. Mating strips of hook and loop fastening material are attached to the two halves of the blanket, so that an infant may be placed on the blanket with the two halves of the blanket wrapped around the infant and fastened to retain the infant in a supine position.

Abstract: Specific nonwoven fabrics having a good hand, high strength both wet and dry, and very high absorbency are useful for disposable health care and commercial bedding material. These fabrics are composed of randomly entangled natural and synthetic fibers interconnected so that the individual fibers are held in place to form a coherent, stable, strong fabric having a high absorption capacity. The fabrics are cut and converted to the desired dimensions. Bottom coverings can include elastic strips that can be fastened for a close fit to beds, cribs, gurneys and the like, regardless of shape.

Abstract: A bedding element comprising a fitted bottom sheet having one or more elasticized convenience pouches sewn onto both lateral sides of the sheet. The purpose of the convenience pouches are to provide a suitable location for a person in bed to temporarily and conveniently store any number of items that are commonly used while in bed. The pouches are elasticized and open at the top to allow for easy access, and closed on the sides and bottom to keep stored items from falling out.

Side margins flank the central area, and folded under said central area and joined thereto by seams extending across each end of the central rectangular area. The seam may be formed from a line of stitching of a contrasting color from the sheet body, to form a visual indicator to readily identify the upper or lower sides of the sheet. The sheet is fabricated by a method of cutting a notch into the two lower toe corners of the sheet, with the notch having an interior, relatively steep region, merging with a peripheral relatively shallow region.

Abstract: A fitted sheets combination includes a fitted bottom sheet and a top sheet. The bottom corners of the top sheet are formed of a widthwise cut edge and a lengthwise cut edge meeting at an angle of more than 90° and being attached to each other along respective lengths. The bottom corners of the top sheet are attached to the bottom corners of the bottom sheet to form a foot pocket at a bottom area of the combination.

Abstract: A mattress system includes a mattress unit having a plurality of self-contained mattress modules supported on a frame unit that is accommodated on an electric bed unit. The mattress modules are interchangeable, removable and replaceable whereby a bed can be customized for the particular needs of a patient and can also be changed as required for patient care and comfort. Also included in the mattress system is a bedpan, located beneath the central mattress modules. The bedpan can be utilized by removing the center mattress module.

Abstract: Airbed bedding that fits multiple sizes of airbeds. The airbed bedding includes first and second layers having drawstrings that extend around each corner of the respective layer. The drawstrings include barrel locks, which permit the drawstrings to be cinched and locked into position. The two layers may be used as a fitted cover for the airbed, and a top sheet or cover. To attach the lower layer to the airbed, a user cinches the four drawstrings. The upper layer is then usable as a top cover. For additional security, the drawstrings at the corners of the foot of the top layer may also be tightened around the airbed. The first layer and the second layer may be attached, for example by a zipper, along one edge, usually at the foot of the bedding.

The skirt can be made of two layers of a textile material, each layer being a single panel, or it can be made of multiple panels or lengths of other materials for each layer.

Abstract: A hydroentangled nonwoven fabric exhibiting cross-direction extensibility and recovery comprises a nonwoven web of staple length fibers of about 0.8 to 3.0 denier having a basis weight of about 1.0 to 4.0 ounces per square yard. A polymeric binder composition substantially uniformly applied to the nonwoven web imparts desired elasticity to the web, with the fabric exhibiting at least about 50% extensibility in a cross-direction thereof, and at least about 90% recovery in a cross-direction. The nonwoven web may comprise synthetic fibers, natural fibers, and blends thereof, as well as continuous filaments. Patterned hydroentanglement of the web acts to entangle the fibers to provide the fabric with desired performance characteristics. A method of making the nonwoven fabric is disclosed. The nonwoven fabric is particularly suited for use in a mattress pad assembly, as also disclosed herein.

The comforter portion overlies the flat sheet portion and couples to a lower end, a right side and a left side of the flat sheet portion. The comforter portion, the flat sheet portion, and the fitted sheet portion securely couple at a predetermined position between the head end and the foot end to form a opening between each portion for free and easy movement of the flat sheet portion and the comforter portion away from the fitted sheet portion.

The coverlet has a pad member formed of a liquid absorbent material, a base member formed of a liquid impermeable material, joined to a cover sheet, by sewing, to form an integral layered structure.

An inelastic panel extends away from a periphery of the side skirt remote from the top portion and entirely around the side skirt periphery. The inelastic panel is separate and different from the side skirt and is attached to the periphery of the side skirt remote from the top portion. A first elastic cord is secured with the inelastic panel at a periphery of the panel remote from the side skirt.

Abstract: A fitted bed sheet having a stretchable knit construction that includes inherent elastic qualities sufficient to enable the bed sheet to be stretched over and around a mattress. Specifically, the fitted bed sheet is of a knit construction and includes a series of knitted loop courses formed by yarns knitted into a series of consecutive loops. Formed at selected intervals between the knitted loop courses is a series of intermediate courses. Each intermediate course is disposed between one or more knitted loop courses and formed by a repeating pattern of knit, miss and tuck stitches. This particular construction results in an inherently elastic or stretchable knit construction that permits the fitted sheet to be pulled and stretched over a mattress without requiring a sewn-in elastic band.

Abstract: A protective cover for a motor vehicle conventional floor mat comprising a removable fabric protectively enclosing the top side of the mat. An elastic strip integral with the inner rim of the cover removably engages the cover to the underside of the floor mat. The conventional floor mat has a mat irregular peripheral edge and the cover edge is custom fitted to the mat irregular peripheral edge. A cover shape-retaining element integral with the cover side edge keeps the conforming relationship of the cover side edge with the irregular peripheral edge of the floor mat. An elastic strip unitary with the cover inner rim allows the cover to be disengaged from the floor mat by stretching the elastic strip to a biased mode. The cover is preferably made of a polyester pile fabric that generally matches the fabric used in motor vehicles. A waterproof layer is preferably attached to the interior surface of the cover.

Abstract: A sheet construction adapted to fittingly engage a mattress includes a main panel having a first pouch at a first end of the panel and a second pouch at a second end of the panel. The first pouch is sized and shaped to encompass a first end of the mattress, while the second pouch is adapted to encompass a second end of the mattress. The first and second pouches include cooperating flaps that extend from the main panel and overlap. The pouches secures the sheet construction to the mattress. In an alternative embodiment, the pouches are sized and oriented to encompass the mattress sides.

Abstract: Cover for bedding element suitable for receiving at least one comforter comprising a first main piece of fabric and a seecond main piece of fabric joined together by their lateral borders and at least one holding device which in substance takes on the form of a rectangle parallelepiped open on one of its sides, and suitable for conforming in shape to an extremity of the mattress characterized in that said holding device is an integral part of the cover, and is formed by the first main piece of fabric and the second main piece of fabric, in such a way that the cover is reversible.

Abstract: A fitted mattress cover is provided with a flat top panel and a knitted or woven fabric skirt attached to and depending from the periphery of the top panel. The lower edge of the skirt contains a band of longitudinally extending elastic yarns that were integrally incorporated into the edge during fabrication of the skirt fabric. The yarns of the elastic band provide sufficient tension to pull some of the skirt fabric under the mattress and provide a secure fit when the cover is installed on a mattress.

Abstract: A mattress cover, for covering a standard mattress, having a major portion and a minor portion. The major portion has a major pocket which defines a rectangular volume. The minor portion has a minor pocket which defines a rectangular volume. The major pocket and minor pocket are separated by a three edge split and are joined by a top sheet. One side of the mattress is inserted into the major pocket, and then the minor portion is pulled over the opposite portion, fully encasing the mattress therein. Fastener material joins the major and minor portions to keep the cover securely in place.

Abstract: A safety crib sheet and a safety crib sheet mattress assembly to reduce the risk of infant smothering and strangulation. Pieces of material are sewn such that the resulting sheet can not be installed or dislodged from the mattress without substantially destroying the sheet or deforming the mattress. In one embodiment, a mattress is formed in two subsections coupled along a fold line. The mattress must be folded in half along the fold line to install or dislodge the sheet. In another embodiment, a conventional crib mattress is used with a sheet that covers a substantial portion of the underside of the mattress and is sufficiently unelastic that the mattress must be significantly bent at least at the corners to permit the sheet to be installed or dislodged.

Abstract: A fitted crib safety sheet for positioning over a crib mattress is made with a rectangular portion sized to fit over the top of the mattress. Side skirts are positioned on each side of the rectangular portion, and are sized to extend both down from the rectangular portion adjacent the sides of the mattress and then underneath the mattress. End flaps are positioned at each end of the rectangular portion, and are sized to not only extend down sides of the mattress but also to extend beneath the mattress. Corners of the sheet are sewn to conform to the corners of the mattress. A wide elastic strip is sewn to each end flap along the lateral width of the end flap. Then a narrow elastic strip is sewn to each side skirt along the longitudinal length of the side skirt and also sewn to the wide elastic stip.

Abstract: A fitted mattress cover has a fabric skirt warp-knit from bulked yarns and elastic yarns. The skirt is elastically stretchable in the longitudinal direction by at least 50%, inelastically stretchable in the transverse direction by at least 60%, and regains its transverse stretch characteristics when laundered and dried in a relaxed condition and possesses important advantages over known stretchable stitchbonded skirts in wash durability, stretch/conformability, and puncture resistance, as well as in economy of manufacture.

A slot opening is made in the side edge cover area of a bedsheet, preferably near the head edge cover area of the sheet. The open edge of the pocket is attached to the slot opening to form a cavity to hold articles such as television remote controls, medicines or tissues, within easy reach of a person in bed.

Abstract: A knitted fabric comprised of two yarn types wherein at least one yarn type is made of an elastomeric fiber and the other yarn type is made of a substantially non-elastic fiber. In the preferred embodiment, one yarn type is a blend of polyester and cotton and the other yarn type is spandex. This overall blend of spandex and poly-cotton fibers creates a knitted fabric having resilience, elasticity and versatility beyond that of a traditional poly-cotton blend fabric. This knitted fabric can then be used to produce sheeting materials, such as fitted contour sheets, which retain shape better, are more easily handled, and have a greater life that standard poly-cotton blend sheets.

Abstract: A lightweight device for transporting a patient under emergency conditions is provided. The invention patient transport device comprises a substantially rectangular sheet with at least two spaced apart lengthwise reinforcing members attached along at least the mid- portion of the length of the sheet, at least two spaced apart crosswise reinforcing members attached to the sheet and to the lengthwise reinforcing members, and weight-bearing handles attached to the crosswise reinforcing members. The invention device, which is optionally disposable, is adapted to bear the full weight of a patient lying on the sheet when the sheet is lifted by the handles and is particularly well suited to removing injured individuals or animals from an accident site and for placement onto a gurney or other means of patient transport.

Abstract: A fitted sheet includes a sheet body portion made of a flexible sheet material. The body is generally rectangular in shape, defining a first end, two sides and a second end opposite to the first end. A pair of generally triangular slots is formed in the first end. The triangular slots being disposed substantially symmetrically either side of a longitudinal axis (12) passing through the center of the first end and the center of the second end, and they are spaced apart a distance X. The triangular slots define an open end and two opposite sides, each side having an approximate length Y wherein the length Y is the same order of magnitude as length X. The opposed sides of each triangular slot (28A, 28B), (30A, 30B) are stitched to provide an engagement with the end of a suitably sized mattress. The area of sheet adjacent the engaged mattress end is not held against the upper surface of the mattress, so that the sheet can pivot away from the mattress.

A readily releasable connection, preferably a zipper, is provided between the top and bottom sheets to allow access to a sleeping volume between them.

The present invention comprises a casement style sheet that completely covers the entire mattress. It slides onto the mattress through an opening in one end of the sheet. The perimeter of the opening having a continuous elastic band disposed therein, thereby allowing the sheet to fit tightly and tautly over the mattress without any snagging. Abstract: A connected bed sheet assembly has a fitted bottom sheet and a top sheet aligned with and interconnected to the bottom sheet along a single aligned end and along a single aligned edge, leaving one free end and one free edge. The fitted bottom sheet is formed to fully cover the upper surface of a mattress and extend over the sides and partially underneath the mattress to removably secure the assembly to the mattress. Elastic members are connected to a portion of the ends and edges of the bottom sheet for secure retention to the mattress. The top sheet extends over the bottom sheet from the interconnected end and edge and over the upper surface of the mattress with its free end adjacent to the head of the mattress and its free edge draping over the edge of the mattress.

The bottom sheet has first and second faces, head and foot end edges, and a pair of side edges. The top sheet has first and second surfaces, top and bottom ends and a pair of sides. The sheets are positioned such that the second surface of the top sheet faces the first face of the bottom sheet.
