Abstract: A stuffed article, for example a toy, flying disk, bed, or etc., and manufacturing methods of such are disclosed which has volume and which upon destruction by an animal will not release stuffing as with most common stuffed toys, flying disks, or beds. The article is made from at least one material such as fabric, canvas, denim, nylon, fleece, rubber, plastic, leather, rawhide, animal parts, fiber (or other pliable material) which, through the article's configuration and manufacturing process is filled with the same type of material used to form the outer layers, multiple layers may be used for increased strength, and specifically the inner cavity contains material which is one and the same type of material as the outer layer(s).

Abstract: A height adjustable pillow includes a neck support portion and a chin support portion integrally formed with the neck support portion. The neck support portion is used for surrounding the neck of a user while the chin support portion is used for supporting the chin of the user, has a cylindrical shape and is formed with a first Velcro strap at one side thereof. The neck support portion is formed with a second Velcro strap for adjustably connecting the first Velcro strap. An inflate valve is mounted on one of the neck support portion or the chin support portion for inflating and deflating.

Abstract: A pillow having a resilient pillow body with a sound transmitting passageway extending through the pillow to bring sound from outside the pillow through an inlet in the side of the pillow to an outlet in the central area of the top of the pillow so that a person using the pillow, with his ear on the outlet, can hear the sound. The passageway has an inlet section leading from the inlet into the pillow which section forms an exponential acoustic horn to amplify and clarify the sound transmitted by the passageway.

Abstract: A pillow cover is provided that includes a first panel and a second panel perimetrically joined with the first panel such that inner surfaces of the first and second panels define a cavity having a void volume. The first and second panels are each made from a first material. An opening extends through the inner surface of the first panel and an outer surface of the first panel. The pillow cover includes a patch covering the opening. The patch is made from a second material that is different than the first material.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing support to the head and/or neck, wherein the support may provide tension and desired orientation of the head and/or neck. In one embodiment, a cushioned saddle-shaped neck support is positioned at an upper end of a moveable support structure. A lower part of the saddle-shaped neck support is movably connected to an upper part of the support structure. A lower part of the support structure is movably supported by a surface on which a person's body can be positioned. The person's body is positioned on this surface with his neck over the neck support. As the person's neck comes into contact with the neck support, the weight of the person's head and/or neck pushes down on the neck support, which moves down and away from the person's shoulders to provide the desired tension and orientation.

Abstract: Methods and combinations of mattress support surfaces comprising one or more flexible polyurethane foam layers containing highly thermally-conductive solids, such as diamond or silicon carbide, and said layer combination is capable of transferring heat from a warm surface, such as a person sleeping on a bed, to a cooler region at a faster rate throughout the mattress than the thermal dissipation rate obtained from flexible polyurethane foam without highly thermally-conductive solids.

Abstract: Methods and combinations for making and using one or more graphite enhanced thermally-conductive foam (TC Foam) layers located on, under, or in cushioning foams and mattresses. Enhanced thermally conductive foam layers may be placed between on, under, within, or between other layering substrates to increase the overall cooling capability of the composite. TC Foam may be used in mattresses, mattress topper pads, pillows, bedding products, medical cushioning foams, and similar materials used in bedding applications.

Abstract: A traction device comprises a frame, a first bladder portion, a second bladder portion, a spacer, and a pump. The first bladder expands in an outward direction a distance greater than in a transverse direction. The second bladder expands in an angular direction. The second bladder is positioned generally below and to the side of the first bladder. Upon expanding in the outward direction, the first bladder bears against the back of the user's neck. Upon expanding in the transverse direction, the first bladder applies an angular traction to the cervical spine. Upon expanding in the angular direction, the second bladder bears angularly against the back of the user's upper thoracic region.

Abstract: A traction device comprises a frame, a first bladder portion, a second bladder portion, a strap, and a pump. The first bladder expands in an outward direction a distance greater than in a transverse direction. The second bladder expands in an angular direction. The second bladder is positioned generally below and to the side of the first bladder. The frame is secured to the user's head. Upon expanding in the outward direction, the first bladder bears against the back of the user's neck and forces the cervical spine to curve forwardly. Upon expanding in the transverse direction, the first bladder applies an angular traction to the cervical spine. Upon expanding in the angular direction, the second bladder bears angularly against the back of the user's upper thoracic region and forces the thoracic spine to decompress and reduces hyper-kyphosis of the upper thoracic spine.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for a method for securing a patient for a medical procedure and specifically for an innovative headrest system for securing a patient for an ocular imaging procedure. The approach avoids the need for linkages and sliding rods and such. Instead, it relies on three independently movable face rests (two for the forehead or temples and one for the chin) each with a deformable cushion that is urged into conformity with the patient's head and chin during an adjustment phase of operation. Once a comfortable position and suitable conforming shape is achieved, the positions of the face rests are rigidly fixed and the shape of the cushions are rendered rigid and non-deformable, by application of a light vacuum, for the procedural or imaging phase of operation.

Abstract: A body support system for relieving contact pressure on a joint in a body, according to various aspects of the present invention, may be configured to elevate a chest portion of the body with a chest support that may be configured to form a taper disposed between a top portion and a bottom portion such that the weight of the body compresses the chest support, which may result in the chest support assuming a substantially inverted arc shape. The compressed edges of the arc may be occupied by the joint. The chest support may further be adjustable for positioning substantially between a collarbone portion of the body and a xiphoid process portion of the body when the body is in a side rest position.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for making a novel liquid gel mixture comprising at least one flexible polymer carrier, parachlorobenzotrifluoride, optional thermally-conductive materials, and optional performance-enhancing additives; using the liquid gel mixture for making surface-infused layers on layering substrates; and using combinations of surface-infused gel layer and layering substrate in cushioning foams and mattresses. Layering substrates are surface-infused with a liquid gel mixture and may be compressed to increase the penetration depth of liquid gel mixture into the substrate layer surface. This compositions may be used in mattresses, mattress topper pads, pillows, bedding products, furniture upholstery, pet beds, medical cushioning foams, seat cushions and backs, automotive foam, sports cushioning, transportation cushioning, headrests, arm rests, personal protective equipment, toys, and the like.

Abstract: A neck supporting piece of apparel, such as a scarf, which includes an inflatable bladder in a neck portion and a tube coupled to the bladder and extending downward to a port easily accessible by the user while wearing the apparel in order to inflate and deflate the bladder, which serves as a neck cushion or pillow. While the neck portion may be configured to go behind the user's neck, the apparel also may include a connector to join the apparel together in front of the user, helping to keep the cushion formed around the user's neck. In addition, the scarf may include pockets at a position generally where the user's hands would lie when sitting or standing, such that tensioning the scarf with the user's arms may increase the cushioning effect of the pillow.

A neck compression index (NCi) is calculated being the weight of the sleeper in kilograms divided by the shoulder width (ear to outer arm dimension) of the sleeper in centimeters. Preferably a compensated NCi is calculated which takes into account the softness or hardness of the mattress. A pillow resiliency is then selected based on the (compensated) NCi. Color coded pillow slips can be used to assist sleepers to self-select a pillow appropriate for their physique. Mail order and Internet based selling methods are disclosed.

Abstract: This invention is a long-filament fiber memory foam pillow, comprising of at least one foam unit, having at least one side of multiple egg-shaped supports; and an inner tube made of long-filament fibers, formed by stretched and stacked up long chemical filament fibers. This long-filament fibers inner tube covers the foam unit, a number of long chemical filament fibers which are embedded and positioned inside are egg-shaped supports, by means of the long chemical filament fibers which have an excellent air permeability, a high strength, and high elasticity, enhance the chemical processing softening treatment, to achieve a comparable silk comfort which enables the replacement of silk raw materials, while significantly reduces the cost of production. Additionally, said long-filament fiber inner tube and the foam unit are covered by an external cover which allows the user to lie on it.

Abstract: Some embodiments of disclosed pillow comprise a first sleeve within which is retained a plurality of loose pieces of filler material, a second sleeve in which the first sleeve is received, and a unitary piece of foam retained between the first and second sleeves. In some embodiments, the unitary piece of foam comprises viscoelastic foam, and can be elongated to run along a side of the first sleeve, can be substantially flat to cover a face of the first sleeve, or can take other shapes and be located in other positions as desired. Also, in some embodiments the unitary piece of foam is shaped to mate with the first sleeve. Additional unitary pieces of foam can be located adjacent the first sleeve and can be retained between the first and second sleeves to provide pillows having other support and cushioning characteristics.

Abstract: A fabric band to be placed around a bed pillow, to enhance comfort and hygiene. The band provides a covered space on each side of the pillow, where the user may rest a hand for greater comfort. Also, a smaller pillow may be placed between the first pillow and the fabric band, to provide more specific support for the head and face. The band may include a moisture-resistant layer to protect the pillow and/or pillow case from saliva. This improves hygiene, and prolongs the life of the pillow.

The device shapes into a structure, supporting a user's head by translating the weight of the user' head to the user's shoulder, bypassing the neck, thus allowing relaxation of the supportive structures of the neck. The neck support device comprises a flexible and bendable inner core and an outer sheath material. Portions of the device may be bent into a support position by the user to support the user's head. The device may be bent into a substantially flat configuration for storage. The device may comprise contoured padding located for support or comfort and slip-resistant materials or surfaces. The device may translate the weight of the user's head from a head portion to a shoulder portion via a neck portion.

Abstract: A pillow is provided herein which includes a cover having opposing first and second panels. A gusset perimetrically bounds, and joins, the first and second panels. The gusset is formed of an open cell construction. Compliant fill material is disposed within the cover. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pillow is provided allowing for lateral ventilation between opposing panels. This permits a cooling effect while a user is resting or sleeping.

Abstract: An infant head cradle assembly including a bed rest that includes a groove in a bottom surface of the bed rest, a head rest that includes a housing component extending from a bottom of the head rest, and a receptacle at a center of the housing component, a base extending from the bed rest to provide support to the head rest. The base includes a receptacle that includes a hole, and a bed rest attachment adjacent to the receptacle. The assembly further includes a bearing retainer assembly that includes a plurality of ball bearings that facilitate a rotational movement of the head rest while the head rest is seated on the bearing retainer assembly. The housing component restricts movement of the head rest from extending further than a range of approximately 20 degrees from front to back and approximately 40 degrees from left to right.

Abstract: A pillow has a body having a medial region and a pair of legs that extend from the medial region to define an opening therebetween. A sleep mask is attached across the front of the pillow by two elastic straps. A storage bag with handles is kept within a storage pocket of the pillow and is attached to the pillow. The bag can be removed from the interior and pulled over the pillow to form a carrying bag. Pouches are retained at the interior of the pillow body and can extend outward from the body. The pouches can fill with fillable material from the interior of the pillow body, allowing the firmness of the pillow to be adjusted. In addition, the legs can then be pushed together so that the pillow can be used as a more traditional pillow rested against a surface.

Abstract: An anti-wrinkle pillow including a pillow casing, first recess and second recess. The pillow casing has a bottom and top and is filled with fill material. The first recess is formed by securing the bottom to the top and is disposed at a first location. The second recess is formed by securing the bottom to the top and disposed at a second location. The second location is predetermined distance from the first location, such that the first recess and the second recess define first and second raised portions delineated by a trough portion. The first and second raised portions are configured to contact first and second portions of a user's face. The trough portion and the second recess are configured to remain contactless with the one or more portions of the user's face to mitigate wrinkling of the one or more portions of the user's face along the predetermined distance.

Abstract: A supplemental pillow for preventing the hair of a user from making contact with a sleeping surface is provided. The pillow includes a cylindrical body, an elevated middle section, and a detachable strap. The pillow can be positioned under a conventional sleeping pillow to create an elevated sleeping surface. The strap can be used to transport the pillow, condense the pillow for storage or travel, or secure the pillow to a conventional sleeping pillow. The elevated middle section is made of a less dense filler than the body of the pillow, which provides a soft sleeping surface. The middle section also acts as a wedge against a user's neck to retain the positioning of the pillow on top of the sleeping pillow when the detachable strap is not in use.

Abstract: A pillow system comprises a pillow having a pocket extending inside the pillow that contains one or more articles having a theme which corresponds to the theme of the outer surface of the pillow. The pillow has a top panel and a bottom panel joined at the periphery to define a peripheral edge and cushioning material disposed inside. The outer surface, having a cover theme, substantially covers one or both of the panels. The pocket extends into and is substantially enclosed by the cushioning material. Access to the pocket is through a pocket inlet along a portion of the peripheral edge. A closure mechanism, such as a zipper, at the inlet substantially closes the pocket to enclose the articles inside. The articles have an article theme that corresponds to the cover theme. If desired, the pillow can also have a theme shape that corresponds to the cover and article themes.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a support pillow comprises a pillow body having a medial region and two opposing arms that form a well region, a first side and a second side. The pillow body further includes an outer periphery and an inner periphery outlining the well region. The pillow body further comprises a fill material and a cover enveloping the fill material. The cover comprises a main section that extends about the first and second sides and the outer periphery, and a center panel coupled to the main section so as to be located along the inner periphery. Also, the center panel is constructed of a woven fabric having two grain directions that are generally perpendicular to each other and a bias. The woven fabric is generally non-stretchable in at least one of the grain directions, and the center panel is coupled to the main section so as to be substantially on the bias.

Abstract: A faux gusseted pillow shell is provided. The faux gusseted pillow shell includes a first panel having a first length and a first width, and a first plurality of sides. The faux gusseted pillow shell also includes a second panel having a second length greater than the first length and a second width greater than the first width, a top wall, a second plurality of sides, and a plurality of depending sidewalls formed along respective sides of the second plurality of sides and extending from the top wall. The depending sidewalls are stitched to respective sides of the first plurality of sides to form a corresponding plurality of seams and thereby form a shell. At least one additional seam is formed in the second panel extending along one of second plurality of sides. The at least one additional seam is formed by stitching through the second panel only.
