Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaning composition for cleaning airct wheel wells. The cleaning composition broadly comprises from about 0.1 to about 15% of a D-limonene composition, containing less than 0.5% of a stabilizing anti-oxidant, acting as a solvent for said greasy soils, from about 0.1% to about 5.0% of a material for increasing the flash point of said cleaning composition above 140.degree. F., such as an isoparrafinic hydrocarbon solvent, from about 10% to about 50% of a mixture of linear alcohol ethoxylates having a HLB in the range of 2 to 15 as a stabilizer, and the balance water. The cleaning composition may also contain from 0.1% to about 10% capryolamphopropionate,from about 0.1% to about 15% dipropylene glycol, from about 0.1% to about 5.0% benzotriazole, and 0.1% to about 5.0% sodium bicarbonate.

Abstract: A remover solution composition for resist which comprises (a) a salt of hydrofluoric acid with a metal-free base, (b) a water-soluble organic solvent, and (c) water and optionally (d) an anticorrosive, and has a pH or 5 to 8. A method for removing resist which comprises the steps of (I) forming a resist layer on a substrate having a metal film, (II) light-exposing the resist layer through a mask pattern and subsequently developing the resist layer to form a resist pattern, and (III) dry-etching the substrate using the resist pattern as a mask and then removing the unnecessary resist and modified resist film with the remover solution composition.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of dissolving coke oven gas deposits comprising treating the deposits with a combination of a first amide and a second amide under conditions and at a ratio sufficient to dissolve a first amount of the deposit greater than a second amount of the deposit calculated based upon the proportional individual solvencies of the first amide and the second amide, wherein the first amide comprises N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone.
Abstract: A biodegradable anti-scalant for steam generators, boilers and other heat transfer equipment is provided. Anti-scalants prepared in accordance with the present invention include aspartic acid, poly(aspartic acid) and copolymers of aspartic acid and functionalized aspartic acid. Anti-scalants provided in accordance with the present invention are biodegradable and therefore more environmentally friendly than currently available anti-scalant for use with hard water. Methods and use of making anti-scalants are also provided.
Abstract: A metal cleaning composition comprising EDDS is described. Preferably, the compositions comprise optical isomers of EDDS, such as (s,s)EDDS. The compositions are particularly well suited for cleaning iron, zinc, aluminum, and copper. De-icer compositions comprising EDDS are also described. Also disclosed are processes for using the compositions.

Abstract: A liquid composition useful for selective dissolution of soft metal is disclosed. The composition comprises an organic nitrocompound and a carboxylic acid. The organic nitrocompound, upon exposure to the soft metal, oxidizes the soft metal to form a first soft metal salt. The carboxylic acid, upon exposure to the soft metal salt, react with the first soft metal salt to form a second soft metal salt that is soluble in the composition. Related methods are also disclosed.
Abstract: The present invention provides a solvent mixture comprising n-propyl bromide, a mixture of terpenes and a mixture of low boiling solvents, and a method for cleaning an article (e.g., an electrical, plastic, and metal parts) in a vapor degreaser using the solvent mixture. The solvent mixture of the present invention is non-flammable, non-corrosive and non-hazardous. In addition, it has a high solvency and a very low ozone depleting potential. Thus, using the solvent mixture of the present invention, oil, grease, rosin flux and other organic material can be readily removed from the article of interest in an environmentally safe manner.
Abstract: A stabilized, environmentally-safe solvent mixture and method for using the mixture are provided. The solvent mixture has an ozone depletion factor of less than 0.08. The mixture includes about 80-96.8%, by volume, chlorobromomethane and about 3.2-20.0%, by volume, of a mixture of stabilizers. The mixture of stabilizers includes nitromethane, 1,2-butylene oxide, and 1,3-dioxolane. The mixture of stabilizer inhibits the decomposition of chlorobromomethane. The solvent mixture is particularly effective for cleaning articles having hydrocarbon-soluble contaminants, especially in a vapor degreaser.

Abstract: This invention relates to a solvent system which is non-flammable and which is comprised of a hydrocarbon solvent having a flash point less than about 38.degree. Abstract: The invention is a cleaning solution for degreasing metal articles which contains at least one chlorine-free nonionic surfactant with an HLB in the range of 6.5 to 9.5; a second chlorine-free nonionic surfactant with an HLB in the range of above 9.5 to about 14; a chlorinated nonionic surfactant, and an alkalinizing agent and optionally also one or more of anionic or amphoteric surfactant; hydrotroping agents; solubilizers; organic builders, and corrosion inhibitors.
