Window Or Window Sash, Sill, Mullion, Or Glazing Patents (Class 52/204.5)
  • Publication number: 20010005962
Abstract: There is described a profiled sash section for a window sash holding a window pane and intended for being installed in an outer frame of a blast resistant window. The sash section includes a main member enabling inter-engagement between the profiled sash member and the outer frame a window pane holding member for accommodating and securing an end portion of said window pane in the profiled sash member, and a reinforcing member designed to support the end portion of the window pane and to transmit blast pressure, if incidentally applied to the window pane, to the main member. For at least partially absorbing blast pressure energy applied to the window pane, the sash section is provided with damping means for deforming up to predetermined limit. Also described is a blast-resistant framework for a casement window, including the window sash assembled from the mentioned profiled sash sections and adapted for rigidly and air-tightly securing the window pane in the holders of the profiled sash members.

  • Patent number: 6253506
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor-vehicle window (1) provided with a peripheral region which engages, at leas in places, with a sealing element (4). The motor-vehicle window (1) can be fitted both in a fixed manner and in a moveable or sliding manner. The surface of the motor-vehicle window (1) is provided, at least in the peripheral region of contact with the sealing element (4), with a structurization (2) which produces a large number of locally delimited areas of contact between the sealing element (4) and the motor-vehicle window (1). In this way, excessively high adhesion forces, with the occurrence of noise during a relative movement between the window (1) and the sealing element (4), are avoided.

Abstract: An insert for a glazing unit includes a body having a width and a height. The insert is configured to fit within the spacer of the glazing unit. A typical glazing unit has at least two outer glazing sheets separated by a substantially rigid, U-shaped spacer disposed about the perimeter of the sheets to create an interior cavity between the outer sheets and the spacer. The width and height of the body of the insert are adapted to allow the insert to fit within the U-shaped spacer. The spacer has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the perimeter of the glazing sheets. The body of the insert also has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the length of the spacer. The body of the insert is fabricated from a non-flowable material having substantially stable dimensions. In one embodiment of the invention, the insert includes an inwardly facing, intermediate glazing sheet-receiving channel that is adapted to slidably receive and position an intermediate glazing sheet.

  • Patent number: 6235356
Abstract: An insulating glass includes two or more glass sheets forming an air space layer between them. The glass sheets are separated by a spacer made of a resin having a JIS A hardness of from 10 to 90 at 25° C. The resin is a thermoplastic composition including a butyl rubber and a crystalline polyolefin. The resin contains from 50 to 98 wt % butyl rubber, from 2 to 50 wt % crystalline polyolefin, and from 10 to 200 wt % inorganic fillers, based on the total amount of butyl rubber and crystalline polyolefin in the resin.

  • Patent number: 6230457
Abstract: A casement window utilizes a multi-locking system having a pair of spaced keepers and a tie bar with a corresponding pair of rollers. In the locking action the rollers ride against the inclined and straight vertical surfaces of the keepers. A lifting block is located immediately above the lower roller when the locking system is in its locked condition. The lifting block prevents sagging and supports the sash in the locked condition. The provision of a lifting block in combination with the known multi-point locking system takes advantage of the locking system components to prevent sagging.

  • Patent number: 6185882
Abstract: A rectangular steel frame has a wide peripheral flange integrally connected to a narrow peripheral flange by a web, and a set of spacer bars of predetermined thickness are welded to the narrow flange around the frame. A multiple layer glass unit is positioned within the frame, and a set of trim base strips are secured by peripherally spaced screws to the wide flange and to the spacer bars around the frame for capturing a peripheral portion of the glass unit. Steel reinforcing strips are secured to either or both sets of trim base strips by the screws, and corresponding sets of aluminum trim channels snap-fit onto the base strips around the frame for enclosing the steel reinforcing strips and to provide a neat decorative appearance. The above structure is also used to form a mullion within the window unit or a window frame assembly for a stepped opening in a building wall. Glazing materials extend between each set of trim base strips and the peripheral portion of the window unit.

  • Patent number: 6173541
Abstract: A snap fitted dual frame window assembly provides for convenient installation of a window in a basement foundation of a residential home. An outer frame is used as a form or spacer for the window during pouring of a concrete foundation wall and has a sloping recessed guiding wall to accommodate an inner vinyl frame. Vinyl frame clips are attached to the inside of the outer frame to secure the inner vinyl frame. The inner vinyl frame includes a channel section which can be forced over the frame clips and then is held, in a snap fit, by the frame clips. One arm of a hinged window sash is mounted on the inner frame and the other is mounted on a window frame. The inner frame can be easily removed from the outer frame and re-installed in different orientations.
