The inner wall portion overlaps the second flange portion of the second end portion in the lateral direction so as to be arranged to receive a common fastener penetrated collectively through the inner wall portion, the second flange portion, and the first flange portion of said adjacent assembly in the assembly building structure.

  • Patent number: 9010054
Abstract: A structural insulated panel is composed of a structural member in a corrugated form and a cohering, insulating filler material. The structural member has a plurality of front surfaces spaced laterally apart from each other and a plurality of back surfaces spaced laterally apart from each other and spaced apart in depth from the front surfaces. The structural member has a plurality of chord panels which span between corresponding edges of respective pairs of the front surfaces and the back surfaces. Chase channels are formed between adjacent pairs of the cord panels and one of the front surfaces or one of the back surfaces. Each chord panel defines a plurality of apertures. The filler material fills the chase channels, binds to the front surfaces, back surfaces, and chord panels, and extends through the apertures in each of the cord panels to structurally connect the filler material in adjacent chase channels.

  • Patent number: 8959839
Abstract: A low cost method for constructing barriers to eliminate a flat or low pitch roof's low spots. Puddles, if allowed to stand there, shorten the roof's life and can do structural damage to the roof deck. Each barrier includes a flexible membrane initially sized and shaped and then positioned to cover at least one low spot and substantially overlap the latter's edges. So positioned, the membrane is heat welded or otherwise joined to form a continuous watertight seal, along its outer periphery, between the membrane and an existing roof deck covering and, when the low spot is next to a parapet, the existing parapet covering as well. Filled with a solidified plastic foam sandwiched between the membrane and the existing covering(s), such barriers, once they have been mechanically fastened to the roof deck and, if necessary, to the parapet, permanently direct storm water away from each of the roof's barrier-covered low spots.

  • Patent number: 8904737
Abstract: Light weight fiber-reinforced polymeric (FRP) structural building panels and panel assemblies, sized and configured for construction of non-portable wall structures permanently fixed to the ground, optionally tying overlying structure to an underlying footer through such panels and panel assemblies. Fiber schedule and fiber orientation in the panels provide enhanced properties of the panels. Fibers are typically oriented within 15 degrees of a top-to-bottom direction in the panel providing, in part, enhanced top-to-bottom crush strength of a panel/wall per length dimension related to mass of the panel/wall per unit length and/or limited deflection of the panel/wall. Panels of the invention also have a bias to deflect toward the surface of the panel which faces outwardly of the building, toward the backfill soil which faces the panel, outside the building.
