  • Publication number: 20080127586
Abstract: The panel 1 comprises a steel skin or backing tray (2) and an external steel skin (3) with a layer of foam insulation material (4) such as a phenolic or polyurethane based foam material therebetween. One of the skins, in this case the external skin 3 has a plurality of mountings for fixing cladding elements such as tiles (5) to the panel to form a cladding. The mountings comprise rails (10) and fasteners (12) for fastening the rails (10) to the external skin (3). Each fastener (12) comprises an internal clamping sleeve (15) and a bolt (16). A hole is first drilled through the skin (3) and the sleeve (15) is inserted. On tightening of the bolt (16), the sleeve (15) splays and is clamped against the inside surface of the external skin (3), and the rails (10) are fixed to the panels. To enhance the peel strength of the composite panel a layer (30) of an adhesive is applied to the internal face of the external skin (3).

  • Publication number: 20080104913
Abstract: A wall panel is provided that is comprised of a plurality of spaced foam insulative blocks. Between each block is a metal stud that spans the height of the wall panel and provides sufficient strength to counteract any compressive loads the wall panel may encounter. The presence of the insulation panels provides large surface areas for the receipt of a thin layer of cementious or gypsum based material that is adapted to receive nails and be easily cut. In addition, the decreased weight of the exterior wall allows for the omission of reinforcing internal structure within the exterior wall which is found in the prior art, thereby providing a lightweight and easy to fabricate wall.

Abstract: Disclosed is a decorative panel having a composite structure bonded by an elastomeric cementitious coating. The cementitious coating bonds together a foam core and glass fiber mesh to form a highly durable and lightweight decorative panel. The panel can further include a finish coat of a substantially maintenance free pigmented coating. The panel may be attachment to the exterior surface of barriers and bridges. The lightweight construction of the panel adds little weight to the structure it adorns while matching or exceeding the wear characteristics of the attached structure.

The insulating core and the skin material are recessed, with respect to the outer board by equivalent dimensions, on an opposite lateral side and on an opposite transverse end. The insulating core is completely surrounded and encapsulated by a plastic channel that protects the insulating core during transportation and installation. The composite panel, according to the present invention, provides a completely sealed panel that can be easily and efficiently installed on-site.

Abstract: Foam blocks may be manufactured using a two part urethane foaming agent or the like at the construction site using a mold that may be disassembled into a plurality of component pieces for ease of transportation and to facilitate removal of a block. Preferably, the blocks are formed in the mold in which a facing is placed such that the facing is bonded to the foam of the block. A wall constructed from successive courses of blocks will have intersecting horizontal and vertical channels which may be filled with concrete and reinforcing rod to produce a wall with high horizontal and vertical load capacity as well as superior insulating properties.

Abstract: The invention relates to a vapor barrier for use in the thermal insulation of buildings which can be used, in particular, for thermal insulation procedures in new buildings or in the renovation of old buildings. The vapor barrier in accordance with the invention is thereby capable of achieving water vapor exchange under different ambient conditions. This is achieved by using a material which has a water vapor diffusion resistance which is dependent on the ambient humidity and which also has adequate tensile strength and tear resistance.

Abstract: A sectional garage door panel includes a skin part formed of a rolled metal sheet forming an outer wall and opposed top and bottom edges which may form a pinch resistant joint when adjacent panels are interconnected. Elongated prefabricated insulation parts are inserted in cavities formed by the top and bottom edges and a generally rectangular planar insulation part is insertable in a cavity formed between the top and bottom edges and between the first mentioned insulation parts. Channel shaped brackets are insertable in cavities formed by the top and bottom edges for reinforcing the skin part at a point of attachment of end stiles and hinge parts. A metal backer sheet forms an inner wall to protect the insulation parts. The brackets and one or more of the insulation parts may be secured to the skin part by an adhesive.
