Abstract: An upright section having two section legs extending spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the section and connected with each other by a section bridge. The section bridge is equipped with at least one elastic segment having low transverse spring temper and extending in the longitudinal direction of the section. The elastic segment is shaped out of the plane put up by the section bridge and connects the section legs with bending elasticity. Since the section bridge is equipped with at least one elastic segment extending lengthwise, the upright section is divided in two section parts that are connected with each other only via the elastic segment arranged between the two parts.

Abstract: There is provided a premanufactured structural building panel system for effectively promoting the efficient construction of the exterior wall members of a building having improved insulation, sound absorption, fire retardant and structural properties. The premanufactured structural building panels are made of a pair of C-shaped structural channels having first and second flanges. The channels are secured to a foam insulation member to form the panels. A fire retarding member can be secured to a flange of at least one of the channels to define an interior surface. The structural panels are supported on wall support members and connected to each other in a side-by-side fashion to form an exterior wall member of a building. The exterior wall members include vertical sidewalls, a horizontal roof and ceiling wall, and a pitched roof system. The interior surface of the walls can be prepared for finishing. Affixed to the exterior of the wall members is a weatherable covering.
Abstract: A fast, easy method of attaching and properly adjusting furniture edging that facilitates the improved aesthetic quality of the finished product while also providing an attachment that is both strong and watertight. The countertop assembly defines a edge construction having a unique double tongue and groove configuration that wedgably interlocks a decorative side molding against the exposed edge of a furniture panel by means of a specially configured groove on the bottom side of the furniture panel. This method of edge construction instantly locks and tightens the edge molding against the furniture panel edge thus, eliminating the need for temporary clamping while at the same time allowing for critical vertical adjustment of the edge molding to ensure the proper alignment of the top of the edge molding with the furniture panel.
Abstract: An adjustable shutter includes a substantially rectangular shutter frame having first and second pairs of opposed spaced apart frame members 3a, 3b defining a substantially rectangular opening between the frame members. A plurality of substantially parallel louvers 5 are operatively mounted within the shutter opening and extend between the opposed pair of first frame members. The louvers are capable of at least partially occluding the rectangular opening of the shutter frame. A respective frame cover 6a, 6b is operatively affixed to each one of the frame members. An adjustment mechanism is disposed between at least one frame member and its respective frame cover, and is operable to adjust a separation between the frame member and its respective same cover, such that a first overall dimension of the shutter can be adjusted. Finally, a respective corner cover member 7 is disposed in operative relation to each of the frame covers to visually occlude a gap between each adjacent frame cover.
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved wall for resisting lateral forces imposed on a building that incorporates the wall. Specifically, this invention relates to a wall in a light-frame building having within it a sub-component specifically designed to resist lateral forces imposed on the building such as those caused by an earthquake or by wind loading. The wall is formed with a bottom plate that rests on the underlying structural component of the building. A plurality of vertically-disposed studs connect to the bottom plate, and a top plate is supported by and connects to the vertically-disposed studs. A shear-resisting assembly connects to the top plate and the underlying structural component. The shear-resisting assembly has top and bottom struts and first and second chords and a planar shear resisting element connected thereto.

Abstract: A cementitious panel comprising a cementitious core which is fabric-reinforced at the surface thereof and whose longitudinal edges are reinforced by a network of fibers. A panel may be obtained wherein the surface edge reinforcement layers are relatively strong and hard such that a nail or screw may be driven through the edge of panel without pre-drilling and without breaking, even when nailed or screwed almost at the very limit of the edge of the panel. Such a panel may provide a long lasting substrate for humid or wet areas such as shower rooms and bath rooms.
Abstract: A gypsum board/intumescent material fire barrier wall includes spaced apart, vertically extending metal or wooden studs with only one layer of gypsum board secured to each side of the studs to form a fire barrier wall with a wall cavity. An intumescent material barrier, that is at least coextensive in width and height with the width and height of the wall cavity, is also included in the fire barrier wall and preferably, the wall cavity contains a fibrous insulation blanket. Preferably, the spaced apart gypsum wall boards, with the intumescent material barrier, provide the fire barrier wall with two hour fire-resistive properties meeting or exceeding ASTM test standard E119 for walls and partitions.

Abstract: A flange of a panel is inserted into an extrusion port of an extrusion molding die through an insertion slit, which opens laterally of the extrusion port, to thereby form a molding space that corresponds to a trim member between the extrusion port and the flange. A material for forming the trim member is extruded forwardly of the extrusion port through the molding space. The die and the flange are moved relative to each other while adjusting the insertion depth of the flange into the extrusion port so that the distance between a reference on the panel and the trim member is maintained at a desired distance. Thus, a trim member is extrusion molded on the edge of the flange of the panel and is mounted thereon simultaneously, thereby accurately mounting the trim member on the in a desired outer shape.
