The filter element has a first end cap with a central opening therein for airflow communication with the filter interior. The second end cap is a closed end cap having spaced radially directed projections and spaced, axially directed projections. The outer jacket is selectively mountable and dismountable on the filter element upon axial relative movement between the jacket and the element. The jacket includes a locking member positioned to selectively engage the jacket with the second end cap radial projections and to secure the jacket on the filter element. The radial projections engage the jacket and support the jacket spaced from a remainder of the second end cap sufficiently to provide an airflow inlet arrangement. In one example, the locking member includes a bead circumferentially lining the inner wall of the jacket. Each of the radial projections on the second end cap selectively engages the bead.

Abstract: An air cleaner arrangement useful for cleaning air in ablative thermal imaging processes includes a housing and a removable and replaceable element assembly. The housing has an interior, an inlet conduit, and an outlet conduit. The element assembly includes first and second filter elements axially aligned and secured together in a stack configuration. The first filter element has a media pack for filtering particulate material. The second filter element has a media pack for filtering noxious gases, such as formaldehyde. In operation, a blower assembly directs airflow through the inlet conduit, into the first element interior, through the first element media pack, through the second element media pack, into the second element interior, and out through the housing outlet conduit. Methods for filtering and changing out of the element assembly are also described herein.

Abstract: A new accessory for duct systems for displaying the degree dustiness in a duct network and for trapping heavy and potentially valuable objects as they are cleaned from a duct network. The inventive device includes a housing that has an exterior wall and an open top. The exterior wall has an interior surface that defines an interior of the housing. The open top provides an opening into the interior of the housing. A filter sheet is disposed in the interior of the housing. The filter sheet has a plurality of apertures therethrough. The filter sheet divides the interior of the housing into a first chamber and a second chamber. The exterior wall of the housing has an aperture into the first chamber and an aperture into the second chamber. A cover is dimensioned for coupling with the open top of the housing. The cover closes the opening into the interior of the housing.

Abstract: A furnace air filter includes a structure which has two identical rectangularly shaped grid members. The grid members are joined together at one side by a hinge, which hinge is made of the same plastic material as the grid members. The grid members and hinge are integrally formed preferably by an injection molding process. A filter media is placed between the grid members so as to form a filter unit adapted to be positioned in the filter track of a furnace air duct. The plastic grid structure is reusable, requiring the replacement of only the filter media.

Abstract: A re-usable frame support rack is provided for supporting and retaining an outstretched, replaceable pleated-media filter core. The pleated-media filter core is of a type that has fold lines extending in a transverse direction and that stretches-out/collapses in the longitudinal direction. The support rack has a frame formed of spaced longitudinal rails extending between spaced transverse rails. The frame carries a pressure-differential support system that provides support, in instances when a pressure differential exists across the frame, to the filter core on a low pressure side thereof. The transverse rails preferably include fingers or like gripping formations for releasably gripping the longitudinal margins of the installed filter core. The longitudinal rails include gates or flaps which have closed and open positions for allowing retention and unobstructed removal in the closed and open positions, respectively, of the longitudinal margins of the installed filter core.

Abstract: A containment, such as a glovebox (4), has an air extract system comprising suction means which extracts air from the containment through a vortex amplifier (1) mounted in a containment wall opening (2). The amplifier (1) serves to control the extent of suction extracted from the containment. Air exiting from the amplifier is drawn through a filter (32) removably arranged within a filter tube (31), which extends substantially parallel to the containment wall (3). A transfer passage (29), having a cross-sectional area less than that of the wall opening (2), provides a communication between an outlet side of the amplifier (1) and the filter tube (31).
