Abstract: A nestable frame for planar air filters or other screen-like planar structures. The nestable frame provides all of the following desirable properties at once: 1. Simple manufacturing and assembly process, 2. Simple design, 3. Enhanced structural rigidity, 4. Significant space-savings during storage and transport, and 5. Simple handling. Preferably, the filter frame comprises an upper and a lower frame portion with a first leg each, where the peripheral edge of the filter media is clampingly engaged between the first leg of the upper frame portion and the first leg of the lower frame portion. From the first leg, the upper frame portion extends outwardly with at least two legs folded into a vertically flipped V. The lower frame portion may or may not have one additional second leg extending outwardly from the first leg, in parallel direction and intimately connected to the second leg of the upper frame portion.

  • Patent number: 7258717
Abstract: The invention is related to a framed filter media comprising a pleated filter media having a fluid inlet face and a fluid outlet face with peripheral sidewalls. The peripheral sidewalls of the pleated filter are attached to the frame generally by an adhesive. The frame is preferably a flexible strip frame formed into three or more (up to an infinite number if the sidewall sections(s) is formed into a circular filter frame) sidewall sections each having a substantially flat sidewall and at least two projecting filter retaining tabs which form a flange on a first face of the sidewall section for containing the filter along its peripheral sidewalls and any adhesive. A cross brace is also inserted within the filter retaining tabs which fits into at least one pleat of the framed pleated filter media. The cross brace fits into the space formed by the pleated filter media but is not in continuous contact with the filter media forming the pleat.

  • Patent number: 7175697
Abstract: A device for protecting medical apparatus from contamination by infectious agents comprises a containment body having an inlet destined to be set in fluid communication with an extracorporeal circuit of blood, and an outlet destined to be connected to a fluid line operatively connected to a pressure gauge of a medical apparatus. The inlet is in gas communication with the outlet across an internal cavity of the containment body. Two hydrophobic membranes are predisposed in the containment body between the inlet and the outlet. The membranes each define an anticontamination barrier which is gas-permeable. The device transmits the pressure of the extracorporeal circuit to the pressure gauge, with no relevant loss of head, while at the same time protecting, with a high degree of security, the medical apparatus from risks of contamination by pathogens originating in the extracorporeal circuit.
