Edge Supported Or Secured Only Patents (Class 55/511)
  • Publication number: 20030070406
Abstract: A filter product includes a filtration media combined with a multi-component frame assembly that can effectively support the filtration media in place proximal to its edges and in accordance with its desired orientation and wherein the assembly can be selectively taken apart to provide access to the filtration media by way of a releasable lock connection. Preferably, a snap-fit releasable locking system is incorporated within the frame design. The present invention is particularly applicable to filtration media comprising pleated filtration media. Such support features include rack-like media engagement elements, which elements are advantageously provided so as to preferably engage the filtration media proximal to its side and end edges from above and below to preferably compress and ensure an effective seal and support connection between the frame and the filtration media.

Abstract: A structure for securing the top and bottom cover portions of an air filter includes a wing member secured to the bottom cover portion. The wing member is attached to the cover portion through a post. The wing member has a wedged surface which is selectively moved along a wedged surface on a slot in the upper cover surface. The wedged surfaces cam the wing member to pivot. Once the wing member has moved through the slot, it is biased back and in a direction opposed to the rotation caused by the wedged surfaces. The wing member is thus secured on a surface on the upper cover member adjacent the slot. The wing member thus secures the two cover members in a snap fit connection. To release the snap fit connection, one merely biases the wing member in an opposed direction.

  • Patent number: 6132608
Abstract: A filter sheet positioned between plates (14) of a filter press has a fluid-impermeable wax layer (11) sealing the sheet's perimeter. The wax preferably comprises ethylene bis stearamide and has a durometer reading of about 75 to about 100 Shore A hardness at 25.degree. C. and 85.degree. C., a melt point of about 110.degree. C. to about 180.degree. C., and a viscosity of less than about 100 cp at 155.degree. C. The wax layer increases the useful life of the filter sheet while providing a sheet which is easily released from a filter press and which retains integrity along the seal during repeated hot water sanitations.

  • Patent number: 6099612
Abstract: An air flow filter assembly of the side-loading type includes a filter guide track adjacent a side access opening for supporting multiple air filter elements in an operative position across the air flow passage. An internal closed loop seal assembly provides an effective, independent peripheral seal for each track-mounted filter element. A gasket retainer, mounted within the air flow passage adjacent the filter track, includes frame segments forming a rectangular gasket frame bordering one or more air flow windows or cells. A seal gasket is mounted on each gasket frame, with each seal gasket including a resilient flange portion extending in a closed loop around each air flow window or cell. The closed loop flange portion projects from the gasket frame for engaging and resiliently sealing along the face of a filter element supported on the filter track in air flow alignment with the air flow window or cell.

  • Patent number: 6059864
Abstract: An air filter used for the filtration of air for a central air and heating system with an internal cleaning apparatus fabricated for easy cleaning of particles from the air filter. This internal cleaning apparatus comprising a cylindrical member with protruding jets adjacent to each other around the mid perimeter of the cylindrical member. The jets receive the porous tubular members which are caped to abstain water form going out the ends. The cylindrical member has a circular posterior member which is affixed to the cylindrical member and is parallel to the circular face member which is unfixed to the cylindrical member. The circular face member has a centrally located female hose fitting protruding downward into the cylindrical member adjacent to the circular posterior member. The female hose fitting receives a male hose fitting, whereby allowing water to flow through the cylindrical member and out the porous tubular members.

  • Patent number: 6045599
Abstract: A reusable replacement filter includes a folded elongated filter element. The filter has a cup shaped member which includes a base element. The cup shaped member has a continuous side wall extending upwardly from the periphery of the base element. The cup shaped member has an open end. A plurality of longitudinally disposed rib elements are disposed along opposed portions of the side wall. A removable ring is juxtaposed to the open end of the side wall. The ring has a plurality of fingers which extend axially in an offset complimentary fashion to the rib elements. The ring and cup have means for telescopically engaging the ring to the cup. A removable cap closes the open end of the cup member. The cap and cup each have an aperture for communicating with the exterior of the filter. The apertures allow a fluid to be passed through and cleaned by the filter element.

  • Patent number: 6039777
Abstract: An air filter device and an automobile having the same includes an air filter bent without disassembling a cowl to be simply and easily replaced within a narrow space, and the air filter is commonly utilized to both left-handed drive type and right-handed drive type automobiles. For this, an air filter member is formed with a creasing part throughout the overall portion thereof. A pair of frame members support the marginal edge of the air filter member, and a connecting frame member is integrally connected to the ends of the first frame member and second frame member to allow for bidirectional bending of the air filter member. Thus, the air filter is simply replaced without causing an interference with a frame mounted with a shock absorber. Also, the second frame member is upwardly bent at any time even though the up and down portions are reversed to have compatibility capable of being commonly employed into the left-handed drive type automobile and right-handed drive type automobile.

  • Patent number: 6033452
Abstract: A filter in a printing machine traps contaminants from a stream of air passing therethrough. The filter includes a support member defining an aperture therethrough for the passage of the stream of air. The support member has a cross section in a plane perpendicular to the flow of the stream of air. The cross section has an oblong shape and includes a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis. The filter further includes an air permeable member supported by the support member. The air permeable member defines a opening therein for receiving the stream of air. The filter further includes a reinforcement connected to the air permeable member. The reinforcement extends along the air permeable member in the direction of the stream of air. The reinforcement is positioned with respect to the support member so as to shape the air permeable member so that the opening may be sufficiently large to efficiently receive the stream of air.
