  • Patent number: 12059538
Abstract: A safety needle system operable with a medical device includes: a housing with a needle mount having a needle; and a sheath telescopically engaged with the housing and surrounding the needle such that the sheath operates in a retracted position, in which the sheath exposes the needle, and an extended position, in which the sheath surrounds the needle. The sheath is coupleable to the medical device such that removal of the needle from the medical device draws the sheath over the needle, transitioning the sheath from the retracted position to the extended position. The system can include a slider engaged with the sheath and/or housing and including a restraint that engages and disengages the sheath to respectively reinforce and weaken the coupling of the sheath and medical device. The sheath can include a longitudinal track that slidingly engages a setting of the housing between sheath positions.

  • Patent number: 12042644
Abstract: Exposed lengths of needles of needle assemblies are adjusted with a needle housing. Also, a cap assembly for use with a needle system selectively covers a tip portion of the needle system. The cap assembly includes a body made up of segments, where one or more of the segments retractably exposes a designated length of the tip portion. When exposed, the tip portion is insertable into a subject object or organism to a depth substantially that of the designated length. In one embodiment the segments are hingedly affixed to one another, and retraction involves pivoting one or more of the segments. In another embodiment, the body is shortened by axially moving a segment with respect to another segment. In an example, the needle system includes a needle assembly having a shaft, a lumen in the shaft, and a bevel on a free end of the shaft.

Abstract: A wrist mounted band onto which a clip for an introducer (also known as a pilot needle) in a cap is affixed along with a micro-cannula and a cover. The introducer and micro-cannula are held substantially parallel to the long axis of the wrist band. The attachment points of the introducer and micro-cannula are adjacent on the exterior surface of the band. As the band is wrapped around the wrist the axis of the introducer and micro-cannula become perpendicular to each other and both parallel to the long axis of the band. A user can then store the introducer and its cap affixed to the band and the micro-cannula in its cover affixed to the band at known orientations. • Patent number: 11446449
Abstract: In one aspect, a safety pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub with a needle fixed to the hub, the needle having a distal end, formed for insertion into a patient, and a proximal end. The assembly further includes a shield and a biasing member disposed between the hub and the shield configured to urge the shield distally. A protrusion extends from at least one of the hub and the shield with a channel being formed in at least the other of the hub and the shield. The channel is formed to accommodate the protrusion. The shield is movable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the shield is spaced from the distal end of the needle such that the distal end of the needle is exposed. In the second position, the shield covers the distal end of the needle. The channel guides the protrusion as the shield moves from the first position to the second position. With this arrangement, a shield may be directed to move in a desired path with stability.

  • Patent number: 11439769
Abstract: A needle assembly for mounting on an injection device which comprises a body configured to be attached to an injection device in use; a double ended needle and a needle shield coupled to the body. The needle shield is arranged for axial movement with respect to the body. The needle assembly has an injection configuration, in which the shield is positioned such that the forward tip of the needle projects beyond a forward end of the shield. The needle assembly also has a shroud configuration, in which the shield is positioned such that the forward end of the shield extends beyond the forward tip of the needle. The needle assembly further comprises a needle support fixed relative to the body when the needle assembly is in the injection configuration. Movement of the shield from the injection configuration to the shroud configuration axially displaces the needle support relative to the body.

  • Patent number: 10918807
Abstract: A medicament delivery system is disclosed including disposable pen needles (10, 60, 120) each having a stainless steel needle or cannula (12, 62, 122) with a concealed or a very short non-injection end (28, 78, 128) that is not intended to pierce the septum (8) of the drug storage compartment (6) of a medication pen (2), thus reducing the risk of needle stick injuries. Several types of non-metallic interfaces (30, 80, 100) serve as intermediaries between the pen needles (10, 60, 120) and a medication pen (2) and perform the septum-piercing function. These improve the flow of medicament to the needle or cannula (12, 62, 122) due to the larger lumen of the plastic interface (30, 80, 100) that directly feeds medicament to the needle or cannula (12, 62, 122), allowing for even smaller gauge needles for improved patient comfort.
