Patent number: 7922211Abstract: A method and a device are provided for interconnecting, sealed against contamination, the ends of tubes by two cooperating connecting components, each having an inlet and an outlet for connection to each other. The connecting components each have a connecting plane, into which the outlets open, each covered by a protective component, and which are movable into engagement with each other with the outlets facing each other. A locking element, which is slidably arranged on one connecting component, is, in a controlled manner and without interruption of the sliding movement, movable onto the other connecting component to a distinct end position. The protective components are removable by means of the locking element when this is moved, and the outlets are sealingly pressable against each other. The locking element is prevented from moving until a predetermined force is applied in the moving direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2006Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Millipore ABInventors: Nils Årthun, Sten Johansson, Lennart Myhrberg, Håkan Samuelsson

Patent number: 7806859Abstract: A safety lancet for taking blood has a hollow barrel with two first slots and two second slots and a detachable needle hub. The needle hub is mounted in the barrel and has a moving base with a needle near a proximal end and a positioning base near a distal end. The positioning base detachably connects to the moving base and has a push button and two stopping resilient elements protruding symmetrically from an outer surface of the positioning base and protruding in the first slots before the push button being pushed and protruding in the second slots after the push button being pushed, so the position base can not move backward. Therefore, medical personnel are able to distinguish easily if the lancet has been used or not.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2008Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: Eumed Biotechnology Co., Ltd.Inventors: Cherng-Jyh Lee, Tzer-Ming Chen

Patent number: 7806890Abstract: A medical device includes a vascular access device with an access port having a septum and a slit. The slit is formed on the inner surface of the body of the septum where the access port receives an access device that is separate from the vascular access device through the slit of the septum. A pivoting member in communication with the access port pivots when the port is accessed by an access device. The medical device may be used to control the volume displacement of a chamber within the medical device by decreasing the volume of the chamber by inserting a substance having a mass into the chamber, pivoting a structure associated with the chamber, and increasing the volume of the chamber simultaneously and commensurately with the mass of the substance inserted into the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2007Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Inventors: Austin Jason McKinnon, Weston F.
