  • Patent number: 5115647
Abstract: An organization wherein panels are secured by sewing or other mechanical or adhesive fasteners to define a pyramidal construction, with an opening at its upper end to receive a shank of a jewelry member such as an earring therethrough, the clasp extending above the pyramidal construction. A forward panel member is mounted to the pyramidal construction. The organization may be further applied to covering for necklace and ring construction, wherein the cover panel is utilized as a covering for a ring or necklace construction. An alternative jewelry apparatus is defined by at least one clip member associated for each year of an individual, wherein the clip member is defined by a frontal panel of a generally diamond shaped configuration and a complementarily configured rear panel of a like configuration. Elongate "L" shaped portions defining ears are directed upwardly from an upper apex of the frontal panel, with the frontal panel defining a simulation of a rabbit-like visage.

  • Patent number: 5097681
Abstract: An earring includes a stem or post to be inserted through a pierced ear and an elongated head portion rotatably attached to the end of the stem. The stem is provided with an elongate slot in which the rotatable head portion is retained. During an insertion of the stem through a wearer's ear, the head portion is axially aligned with and substantially retained within the slot. After insertion, the head portion is rotatable into a position transverse to the longitudinal axis of the stem so as to effectively retain the earring in the wearer's ear without the necessity of utilizing a separate conventional fastener.

  • Patent number: 5081853
Abstract: A comfortable, selectively removable earring comprises a decorative ornament portion, a heat and cold insulating as well as soft felt backing layer and a piece of two-sided adhesive-like tape. The felt backing is permanently secured to the earring ornament. The two-sided adhesive-like tape is overlayed on top of the felt backing. When desired to be worn, the wearer removes the paper covering from the exterior side of the two-sided adhesive-like tape to reveal the sticky adhesive. The earring can then be pressed against the ear and secured in place. It can be easily peeled off, as desired. For subsequent wearings of the earring, another piece of two side adhesive-like tape is overlayed onto the prior-used adhesive. Alternatively, the used adhesive can be removed from the felt backing and replaced with a new piece of two-sided adhesive-like tape.

  • Patent number: 5080518
Abstract: An earring device comprises an ornamental element bearing means from which at least two thin ornamental elements are hung. These ornamental elements are thin cross-sectional (x,y -axes) depictions of animals, which when arranged on the bearing means, provide a three-dimensional illusion. In a preferred embodiment, the animal head and front quarter are depicted on a first thin ornamental element, and the animal rear quarter is depicted on a second element. When hung from the bearing means, spacers are provided to create a separation between the thin ornamental elements in a z-axes. This separation creates an illusion of depth along the z-axis, leading to a three dimensional depiction of the animal.

  • Patent number: 5032437
Abstract: Jewelry products and other decorative devices are made by rolling a piece of paper into a cylinder and cutting and bending the cylinder into a ladder having two round columns separated by a plurality of spaced, substantially transverse steps. The steps of the ladder are folded in an overlapping manner by pressing one column towards and above the other column so the first column is offset with respect to the second column. Both columns are then pressed flat towards the overlapping steps, and the entire device is coated with a flexible adhesive. After the adhesive drys, the device is cut to a desired shape and length, and the device is incorporated into a piece of jewelry or other decorative device such as a tree ornament, wall or window decoration, mobile or gift decoration. For example, an earring can be made by securing an eye hook to the device, and a barrette can be made by attaching a clasp to the device. A brooch can be made by securing two or more devices together with appropriate support structure.

  • Patent number: 5018053
Abstract: The present invention discloses illuminated jewelry which is adapted for use as an earring, lapel pin broach, tie clip, cuff link, etc. A light source, such as an LED, is molded with a non-conducting, light transmissive material, which is preferably faceted to provide multiple reflected images of the illuminated light source. A power source, such as a small battery, is held by a retainer which provides electrical contact with one terminal of the power source. A lead finding is pivotally secured to the retainer at one end, and is secured at the opposite end to the light source. A lead post is secured to the light source, and positioned to contact the opposite terminal of the power source to energize the light source when the retainer is moved to a closed position. When the retainer is moved to an open position, the circuit between the power supply and the light source is broken. A biasing means is disposed between the retainer and the lead finding, to urge the illuminated jewelry open and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 4944164
Abstract: A convertible earring comprising a rigid earring body having a surface on one side and an ear attachment on the other side, with the surface having a raised portion and an adjacent decorated portion. When the earring body is attached to one ear by the ear attachment, the raised portion hides the adjacent decorated portion behind the raised portion when viewed from the front of the ear. But when the earring body is attached to the other ear, the adjacent decorated portion is visible in front of the raised portion when viewed from the front of the other ear. Thus a pair of such earrings is convertible to a more decorated pair of earrings by simply switching each earring from one ear to the other. The raised portion may be a step, an outwardly curved surface or a wall. Or the surface of the earring body may have a decorated raised portion and an adjacent but hidden differently decorated portion so the earring is convertible to a differently decorated earring by switching the earring from one ear to the other.

The ear ornamentation is closed by rotating the two components about the hinge and engaging fastening means located at the opposite end of each component from the hinge. One fastening means comprises a fine gold alloy pin with a recess. Another fastening means comprises a seating into which the pin is pivoted, the recess engaging in a positive snap fit with a projection in the seating. This ear ornamentation is reversible due to the hidden design of the fastening means, is easy to handle and aesthetically pleasing.
