Abstract: A device for needle-by-needle selection in circular stocking knitting machines is disclosed. An elastic lock pin or segment (19) is provided for each lower needle (13) of the type having an elastic deflection tail. The segment is carried by a crown (22) fixed with the cylinder and usually in a position shifted downwards away from the tail of the lower needle. A thruster (20) is provided under the lock segment, which can be moved upwards and is intended to deflect the lock segment (19) up to the level of interception with the tail of the lower needle (13). This results in a locking of the lower needle in the deflected, inoperative position. A selection electromagnet (21) is provided which can be activated and deactivated according to a program to hold or release the lock segment. The activation/deactivation keeps the inoperative lower needle locked or releases it because it is moved towards the outside into the operating position.

  • Patent number: 5070711
Abstract: This device relates to a circular knitting machine in which the inactivation or activation of a vertical jack standing below each needle is controlled by a horizontal jack. The horizontal jack is located in a radial position relative to a cylinder within a ring structure. This ring structure surrounds and is rigid with the machine cylinder. It contains, in a number equal to the number of needles, radial grooves. The horizontal jacks slide radially in the grooves as well as horizontally. They are selected by electromagnetic retention devices with which each jack is provided and which are mounted on the ring structure. When the devices are energized, they retain the horizontal jacks in their outer position to activate the corresponding needles. When they are not energized, the electromagnetic devices allow the horizontal jacks to return to their inner position by a thrust spring, to leave the corresponding needles in a rest postion.

  • Patent number: 5007464
Abstract: An electromagnetic device is provided for use, for example, as a yarn brake, a rely nozzle valve, a weft yarn stretching nozzle and the like. The electromagnetic device has a pole piece associated with a winding connectable to an electric line. A spring strip is fixedly mounted at one end and projects over a curved abutment surface on the pole piece. In the absence of a magnetic field, the spring strip is disposed in spaced relation to the abutment surface. When a magnetic field builds up in the winding and the pole piece, the free end portion of the strip engages with the abutment surface of the pole piece along an increasing length, for example, to brake a yarn therebetween and, as the magnetic field intensifies, more and more zones of the spring strip engage the pole piece. Consequently, the initial speeds at which the strip moves at engagement and upon cessation of energization of the winding are relatively high.

  • Patent number: 4875347
Abstract: In a knitting machine, a selection latch having two end positions for selecting a knitting-needle is actuated so as to engage a cam which moves the selected latch towards a second end position. The actuation of the selection latch in two stages reduces the displacement brought about by the actuating means and increases the selection frequency. According to the invention the latch is actuated by a thin needle similar to a needle-printer needle, producing an impact on the latch, resulting in transmission of motion with high efficiency and moving the latch into an intermediate position in which the cam brings the latch into its second end position. This substantially eliminates friction between the actuating means and the latch, and enhances the selection frequency.
