A locking bolt is longitudinally slidably mounted with the casing for movement at an acute angle relative to the bolt abutment surface of the door latch mechanism between a locked position projecting through the aperture in the casing and into abutment with the abutment surface of the door latch mechanism and an unlocked position out of abutment with the abutment surface of the door latch mechanism and retracted into the casing.

  • Patent number: 5511401
Abstract: A combination lock/deadbolt assembly connection technique is disclosed for connecting the bolt of the combination lock to the deadbolt of the deadbolt assembly to provide a lost motion connection while at the same time to retain the ability to position a magnetic anti-attack interlock within the bolt of the combination lock. A connecting shaft is disposed between the bolt and the deadbolt and a spring bias force introduced between the two bolts. The shaft may be attached rigidly at one end to either the lock bolt or deadbolt. The opposite end is loosely attached by retaining rings or retaining rings to accommodate the movement of the loosely attached bolt with respect to the shaft thereby providing a lost motion connection. A compression spring is disposed intermediate to the lock bolt and the deadbolt to provide a separating or extending force.

  • Patent number: 5257519
Abstract: A dead bolt assembly for use with a combination dial lock assembly includes a housing structure adapted to receive a combination dial lock assembly. The housing structure includes a bolt hold back assembly which prevents extension of a dead bolt into a door strike. The bolt hold back assembly is operable from the inside of the door preventing manipulation of the combination dial on the outside of the door. Arranging the bolt hold back assembly in the housing permits ease of replacement and/or repair of standard or off the shelf type combination locks with the dead bolt assembly. The dead bolt assembly also includes a spring loaded pin arrangement which avoids a lockout situation. The housing structure includes a slot in the back plate which facilitates installation and/or removal of a combination dial lock assembly by permitting the lock shaft to slide into the housing structure without requiring removal of the combination dial or lock casing.

Abstract: A three stage lock unit according to the teachings of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is shown as including a patented combination lock secured within an outer housing of the lock unit which is secured to a mail box door or any small door. Combined with the combination lock is a push button constrained by the combination lock until the correct lock combination is dialed releasing an arm of the push button placed to utilize a hole in the door previously used for another type of lock. The push button arm extends inward to an inner housing to contact the sliding spring mounted door latch within a slot of the latch and opens the unit door when pushed inwardly. A spring activated pin within the door latch extending into the slot to meet the push button arm helps to close the system smoothly by providing an auxiliary force through pressure on the push button arm to relatch with the combination lock latch.

  • Patent number: 4777810
Abstract: A latching assembly having a retractable latch bolt and a slide bar which retracts the latch bolt by moving either forwardly or rearwardly from an intermediate position. The latching assembly has a rotatably mounted locking rod that rotates 90.degree. between a locking and an unlocking position. The assembly is arranged with a "panic release" system, in that with the locking rod in its locked position, it is possible to push an "inside" button or cylinder forwardly so as to move the locking rod to at least a partially released position to permit the latch bolt to be retracted. Thus, the latch bolt can be retracted from the inside location whether the locking rod is in its locking or unlocking position, but cannot be retracted from the outside location when the locking rod is set in its locked position.

  • Patent number: 4593543
Abstract: A solenoid-operated door lock has a pivotally mounted deadlock lever which can lock either a latchbolt or a deadbolt. The locking and release movement of the deadlock lever is controlled by pivoting a release lever which is biased by a spring to maintain the deadlock lever in its selected operating positions. A solenoid-controlled main operating lever pivots to extend or retract the latchbolt or deadbolt through a lost motion connection. The lost motion connection ensures that the deadlock lever is moved to its release position before the latchbolt or deadbolt is retracted into the lock. The lock includes a triggerbolt which is extended when the door is open and is pushed into the lock when the door is closed. Switches are provided to monitor the operational condition of the lock and the position of the door. Indicator lights are provided at a remote guard station to show the operational condition of the lock. A switch is also provided to control the energization current of the solenoid.
