Dogged Bolt Or Connections Patents (Class 70/150)
  • Patent number: 4429556
Abstract: There is disclosed a knob control arrangement or system whereby the status of a knob associated with a lock mechanism can be controlled from exteriorly of the lock housing and can be selectively rendered active-operable or passive-inoperable. In this regard, when in the passive-inoperable condition, the knob will merely rotate relative to the housing without imparting force or stress to the lock components. This mode of operation is achieved by providing a knob hub rotatably mounted to the lock housing to which a knob member may be affixed. Interiorly of the housing, the knob hub will move relative to a main cam member used to effect operation of the lock mechanism. The knob control arrangement includes means for selectively interconnecting and disconnecting the knob hub and the main cam member, such that when connected, an active-operable condition is attained, and when disconnected, the passive-inoperable mode is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4294089
Abstract: A latchbolt rim lock of simple sturdy construction with smooth effective operation and long life. A die cast case forms guides for a bolt having a head and draw plate, and has U-shaped ribs on its rear wall to define seats for springs biasing the bolt forward, in which the springs are held by a rear flange on the back plate. A rearward boss on the front wall forms a retraction stop for the bolt and contains a headed holdback plunger which is manually movable into a hole in the bolt where it is latched by its head to hold the bolt retracted. The draw plate contains a cam opening which defines opposite cam faces which are engaged by a crank pin to retract the bolt. The cam opening also has a central pin-passing throat which allows cammed retraction of the latchbolt relative to the crank pin, and defines supplemental cam faces for moving the bolt to release the holdback plunger.

  • Patent number: 4231597
Abstract: A flush mountable door lock includes a recessed body member, a lock bolt slidably mounted on the body member, and a paddle-shaped operating handle for moving the bolt. The handle is movable between nested and projected positions. A bolt actuator extends from the handle into a receiving formation provided on the bolt for drivingly interconnecting the handle and the bolt to effect retracting and extending movements of the bolt when the handle is moved toward its projected and retracted positions. A torsion coil spring is interposed between the body member and the handle, and serves the several functions of biasing the handle toward its nested position, maintaining play-free engagement between the handle and the body member when the handle is nested, and maintaining a play-free driving connection between the handle and the bolt when the handle is projected.

  • Patent number: 4195867
Abstract: A door latch particularly for use in mobile homes or recreational vehicles. A housing having a channel formed therein is mounted on one surface of a door overlying a passageway therethrough. A spring-loaded slidable latch engagement member is positioned within the channel for operating engagement with a striker plate mounted on the jamb of the frame against which the door abuts when closed. A latch retaining pin is positioned through the housing and has a shaft part extending within the passageway in the door for receipt on the other side of the door surface of an operating knob or handle secured thereon. Rotation of the operating knob actuates the pin to disengage the latch engagement member and thereby unlatch the door. A lockable abutment member may be positioned upon the door surface or an extension part of the housing to block the path of the latch engagement member when moved toward disengagement position and thereby prevent such disengagement.

  • Patent number: 4038846
Abstract: This electronic combination lock is operated by depressing the proper combination of pushbuttons mounted on the faceplate of a circular handle, then rotating the handle to open the bolt. The pushbuttons are held outwardly by radially extending spring wires within the handle that also provide electrical connection, when a pushbutton is depressed, to inclined contacts mounted to the rear of the faceplate. Electrical leads extend through a hollow shaft connected to the handle. The bolt is restrained in the locked position by a magnetically actuated locking pin which projects into a bore in the bolt. The shaft is connected to the bolt by a spring. When the proper pushbuttons are selected, electrical circuitry disclosed herein actuates the magnet, removing the pin and permitting the bolt to be opened by handle rotation. If the wrong combination is depressed, an alarm signal is produced, the magnet is not actuated, and rotation of the handle expands the spring without moving the bolt.
