  • Patent number: 5359869
Abstract: An improvement in the configuration of automobile steering wheel locking devices. The automobile steering wheel locking device pertaining to the present invention principally consists of components, which include a main body, stopping bar, lock, casing, hook, spring and holding shaft. A cross bar at the rear of the lock's turning piece rests on a groove at the front of the casing. Turning of the lock's turning piece causes the cross bar to push back the casing and compresses the spring, thereby releasing the hook quickly and allowing the locking device to be removed from the steering wheel. The locking device can be locked on quickly around the steering wheel by pushing the hook upward, thereby causing a grip slot on the inner side of the hook to grip onto an opening on the lower side of the casing. The locking operation is therefore automatic.

Abstract: A lock for a motorcycle has a generally U-shaped construction. Rotation of the wheels is then prevented by contact between the lock and the brake calipers on the front wheel or the chain or sprocket on the rear wheel. In order to release the bolt, a cam and a spring biasing the pin in the opposite direction are provided so that rotation of the cam allows the pin to be withdrawn from the bolt. The lock includes a lock-out mechanism which prevents the motorcycle from being started when the lock is in place because the lock-out mechanism retains the ignition key. • Patent number: 5197308
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved vehicle security device of the steering lock type for use on the steering wheel of a moveable vehicle, such as an automobile, truck, boat or the like. The steering lock device is of the type having two separable bar sections locked together to form an elongated locking bar that extends beyond the rim of the steering wheel to prevent the steering wheel from being significantly turned. The current invention comprises such a device with an improved attachment for preventing the device from being lifted off the steering wheel. In one embodiment, a double forked end is provided on each bar section formed by two downwardly extending forked tines that extend beneath an overlying section of the bar section. The double forks are located in a position to engage against the rim of the steering wheel with each fork being located on opposite sides of a reinforcing member that is part of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 5179849
Abstract: A steering wheel lock for capturing a steering wheel and a foot control pedal of automobiles. The steering wheel lock provides for a sliding rod displaceable within an inner tubular member which is positioned within an outer tubular member. The sliding rod has a lock cylinder at one end with its pin extending out of an opening and a protuberance at the outer edge of the same end. The inner tubular member has a plurality of aligned openings or small holes which block the sliding rod from moving when the pin extends through one of the holes. A pair of longitudinally directed troughs allows the protuberance to move in the trough freely as the sliding rod is longitudinally displaced. A circular ring is fixedly secured to the outer tubular member and spaced from the end of the inner tubular member to define a circular recess, and an arcuate trough extends between the pair of longitudinal troughs at the opposing end of the inner tubular member to permit rotation of the sliding rod.

Abstract: A device having a pair of right-angle members slidable relative to each other to bring the jaws mounted to the foot of a leg of one of the members and the jaws of an opposed clamp mounted to the foot of a parallel leg of the other member into clamped engagement with diametrically opposed brake cooling slots and the adjacent surface of a wheel of a parked motor vehicle, and including a key operable lock mounted in part to each of the right-angle members which serves to secure the members in the clamped condition. In its diametrically applied condition to the wheel, the device obstructs application of a boot over the lug nuts of the wheel, and an elongated arm of one of the member extends beyond the periphery of the wheel so as to immobolize the wheel against rotation relative to the roadway.
