Electrical Power Generation Or Distribution System Patents (Class 700/286)
  • Patent number: 11205901
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for identifying the topology of an electric power network allows for the automatic and efficient identification of network topology without the knowledge of network parameters. The method is based on the estimation of mutual current sensitivity coefficients and on an algorithm to obtain the network incidence matrix from the estimated sensitivity coefficients. This algorithm is based on the general assumption that the metering unit that is the most sensitive to the variations of the measured current in a branch connected to a particular node is the metering unit that is arranged at the physical node immediately upstream form the particular node. The method effectively considers the presence of noise in the measurements and its time correlation.

  • Patent number: 11182715
Abstract: A controller is provided to orchestrate operations of two or more different actors or resources in completing a task. The controller orchestrates the operations based on a dependency graph that the controller generates for each received task. The dependency graph has a linked list of nodes. Each node includes a different set of operations for completing a different part of a task represented by that dependency graph. Each set of operations associated with a node may be dependent on the successful completion of a prior set of operations associated with a prior linked node in the same dependency graph. The controller may allocate different sets of operations from different nodes of the dependency graph to different human or robotic resources, and may track the status of multiple tasks in parallel based on the progression through different nodes of the corresponding dependency graphs.

  • Patent number: 11183845
Abstract: Managing control targets, in particular, load balancing processes, when controlling the supply, conversion, storage, feed, distribution, and/or use of energy in an energy network if the increasing, volatile, dynamic, decentralized, local feed and/or storage of electric energy leads to loads at different network connection levels of the energy network to control the energy supply so efficiently and sustainably that load balancing processes resulting from occurring load deviations for example are supported locally and reduced regionally and/or across network connection levels. Provided are hierarchical and network-oriented energy clusters formed within network connection levels of the energy network, and in the process, the expenditure of energy and the local exchange of energy within energy clusters are localized across clusters and/or across network connection levels via a voluntary and incentivized participation in an energy cluster service which manages the control targets in the energy network.

The central plant includes a controller configured to obtain a cost function comprising a peak load contribution (PLC) term representing a cost based on an amount of the one or more resources purchased during coincidental peak (CP) subperiods. The controller is configured to modify the cost function by applying a peak subperiods mask to the PLC term, wherein, for each subperiod, the peak subperiods mask modifies a portion of the PLC term corresponding to the subperiod based on a probability that the subperiod will be one of the CP subperiods. The controller is also configured to perform an optimization of the modified cost function.

Abstract: A control node enables distributed grid control. The control node monitors power generation and power demand at a point of common coupling (PCC) between a utility power grid and all devices downstream from the PCC. The control node can have one or more consumer nodes, which can be or include customer premises, and one or more energy sources connected downstream. The control node monitors and controls the interface via the PCC from the same side of the PCC as the power generation and power demand. The control can include adjusting the interface between the control node and the central grid management via the PCC to maintain compliance with grid regulations at the PCC.

Abstract: A microgrid arrangement includes a decentralized microgrid control system, a first microgrid and a second microgrid separated by a microgrid breaker. The first and second microgrids each include a number of assets, each asset being associated with a respective microgrid controller (MGC) of the microgrid control system. The control system can be operated by determining that the microgrid breaker is open, assigning a first MGC in the first microgrid to a first group of MGCs in the first microgrid, broadcasting information from the first MGC to other MGCs in the first group, determining that the microgrid breaker is closed, assigning the first MGC to a second group of MGCs in both the first microgrid and the second microgrid, and broadcasting information from the first MGC to MGCs in the second group.
