Vehicle Subsystem Or Accessory Control Patents (Class 701/36)
  • Patent number: 11738804
Abstract: A system can train a vehicle electronically to accommodate a driver. The system can train the vehicle to accommodate the ability, condition, and/or personality of the driver. The system can change the controls of the vehicle, responsive to the inputs from the driver, to match with the patterns of controls resulting from a predetermined model (such as a safe-driver model). Accordingly, the vehicle can appear as it is being driven by a safe driver when it may not be the case. A driver with a lower driving competence may apply physical controls in a pattern that may be slow, unstable, or insufficient. However, the vehicle can be trained to adjust the transformation from the UI signals to the drive-by-wire signals such that the transformed signals appear to be applied by a more competent driver on the road. And, the transformation can improve over time with training via machine learning.

Abstract: A method for displaying charge and gain energy by a vehicle solar roof system is provided. The method includes determining whether the vehicle is in a parking or driving mode based on whether the vehicle key is turned on or off when the solar roof system installed in the vehicle operates. A corresponding consumed energy is calculated by determining whether the solar roof system charges the auxiliary battery or the main battery. The consumed energy is displayed in the cluster of the vehicle and booting is performed when the key is turned on in the parking mode and displayed when the key is turned off in the driving mode. The consumed energy is calculated based on efficiency of a charge amount of the auxiliary battery or the main battery and a gain fuel amount is changed based on the charge amount and calculated due to the saved energy.

  • Patent number: 11578690
Abstract: A system for use with a block heater connected to an engine for pre-start heating of the engine. The system includes a power source, a relay assembly coupled to the power source, a temperature sensor, and a controller. The relay assembly, when closed, electrically connects the power source to the block heater, to thereby energize the block heater to heat the engine. The temperature sensor senses an ambient temperature indicative of a temperature of the engine. The controller is programmed to selectively activate the relay assembly to energize the block heater such that the engine coupled to the block heater is heated from the sensed ambient temperature to a target temperature at approximately a target time.

  • Patent number: 11572077
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to techniques to implement a vehicle action using a distributed model distributed across the vehicle and a remote node. A local portion of the distributed model at the vehicle may generate a local output model based on vehicle event data collected at the vehicle. The local output model may be sent from the vehicle at a first location to the remote node at a second location. The remote node may generate a remote output model based on the local output model using the remote portion of the distributed model. The vehicle action may be determined based on inspecting a reconstructed version of the vehicle event data included in the remote output model. The determined vehicle action may be implemented at the vehicle. The distributed model may facilitate the transmission of vehicle event data across multiple locations while securing the transmission of personally-identifiable information.

  • Patent number: 11571969
Abstract: A method, system and non-transitory computer readable medium for suppressing autonomous vehicle external human machine interface (eHMI) notifications to prevent confusion or distraction of a road user. The suppression conditions are based on situations where the eHMI notification is redundant, not necessary, can be simplified or should be modified due to weather or light intensity. The eHMI notifications can be suppressed on selected displays and enhanced on others. The eHMI notifications can include text and icons, flashing lights, color or light patterns, which can be modified or suppressed based on the determination that the eHMI notification will confuse or distract the road user. At a four-way stop intersection, the eHMI notification can be suppressed until the autonomous vehicle has the right-of-way. The autonomous vehicle can form a mesh network with connected vehicles at the intersection and broadcast a group eHMI while requesting that the connected vehicles suppress their eHMIs.
