The system has navigation units, acoustic units, and inertial units. The navigation units obtain position from one or more satellite navigation systems, and the acoustic units obtains position from one or more acoustic positioning reference systems. The inertial units obtains position of the unit from one or more inertial navigation systems, and this inertial position for each unit is based at least in part on the positions obtained from respective ones of the navigation and acoustic units. A control unit in operable communication with the inertial units determines dynamic positioning information from the inertial position of at least one of the inertial units. In turn, the control unit then operates equipment on the drilling unit to control its position dynamically.

Abstract: A tracking server receives GPS data from a location tracking device located in a vehicle. The GPS data describes a path that is representative of a pathway of the vehicle used to complete a trip from a starting location to a destination location. The tracking server identifies noisy GPS data included in the received GPS data and revises a portion of path corresponding to the noisy GPS data. The tracking server may update a map database to include one or more road segments associated with the revised portion of the path. Furthermore, the tracking server may calculate a fare for the trip based on the revised path.

Abstract: A method for adjusting packet length is disclosed. A first dynamic reference point currently closest to the mobile device is calculated. A current position of a mobile device is compared with GPS data of the first dynamic reference point to calculate brief GPS data. It is determined whether a second dynamic reference point has been uploaded to the server. It is determined whether the first dynamic reference point is identical to the second dynamic reference point if the second dynamic reference point has been uploaded to the server. The first dynamic reference point is uploaded to the server if the first dynamic reference point is not identical to the second dynamic reference point. The first dynamic reference point is uploaded to the server if the second dynamic reference point has not been uploaded to the server, and the brief GPS data is uploaded to the server.

  • Patent number: 10572888
Abstract: A social networking system provides relevant content objects at the request of social networking system users. Relevance scores are determined for content objects by matching user location, user interests, and other social information to the content, location, and timing associated with content objects. A ranked list of content objects can be provided to the user, where the content objects are relevant to them based on their interests, location, and other social information. The system provides a user interface that displays a map containing pins, where each pin represents a content object in actionable proximity to a user. The content objects selected to be presented as pins to the user are those content objects with sufficiently high relevance scores. Multiple pins for a nearby area can be clustered. The user can switch between zoom levels for the map, thereby showing pins at varying distances from the user's current location.

Abstract: A computer system determines contingency landing sites for an aircraft, piloted or autonomous. The computer system decomposes data from various types of maps into multiple separate risk maps, which can include: one for the risk to people being present on the ground at the landing site; one for the risk of damage to property on the ground at the landing site; one for the risk of damage to the aircraft; and/or one for the risk to people on-board the aircraft. From these maps, the computer system generates a contingency landing site map that the aircraft can use to determine an appropriate landing site in the case of an emergency. The computer system can also perform landing simulations to determine the various risks.

Pressure sensor occlusion may be detected based on a comparison of a variance of pressure data from the pressure sensor with a variance of acceleration data from an accelerometer of the device. If a ratio of the pressure data variance to the acceleration data variance is above a threshold, occlusion may be identified. Data from other sensors in the device or in an external device, or other features of the pressure data, may be used to identify a type of occlusion.
