Electrical Analog Simulator Patents (Class 703/3)
  • Patent number: 11900264
Abstract: Hybrid quantum-classical approaches for solving computational problems in which results from a quantum processor are combined with an exact method executed on a classical processor are described. Quantum processors can generate candidate solutions to a combinatorial optimization problem, but since quantum processors can be probabilistic, they are unable to certify that a solution is an optimal solution. A hybrid quantum-classical exact solver addresses this problem by combining outputs from a quantum annealing processor with a classical exact algorithm that is modified to exploit properties of the quantum computation. The exact method executed on a classical processor can be a Branch and Bound algorithm. A Branch and Bound algorithm can be modified to exploit properties of quantum computation including a) the sampling of multiple low-energy solutions by a quantum processor, and b) the embedding of solutions in a regular structure such as a native hardware graph of a quantum processor.

  • Patent number: 11658620
Abstract: A digital signal generator apparatus and method is described. The digital signal generator includes a counter, an integrator and a comparator. The counter counts up or down from an initial counter value dependent on a counter control input. The comparator has a first input coupled to the counter output, a threshold input and a comparator output coupled to the counter control input. The integrator has an input coupled to the counter output and an output coupled to the digital signal generator output. The digital signal generator determines the count direction after the initial direction dependent on the comparison between a threshold value applied to the threshold input and the counter output value. The digital signal generator may implement the generation of a waveform having an approximation to a raised cosine function. The generated waveform may be used for audio artefact reduction in an audio amplifier during mute or unmute operations or during power up power down operations.

  • Patent number: 11065060
Abstract: Systems are provided for generating data representing electromagnetic states of a heart for medical, scientific, research, and/or engineering purposes. The systems generate the data based on source configurations such as dimensions of, and scar or fibrosis or pro-arrhythmic substrate location within, a heart and a computational model of the electromagnetic output of the heart. The systems may dynamically generate the source configurations to provide representative source configurations that may be found in a population. For each source configuration of the electromagnetic source, the systems run a simulation of the functioning of the heart to generate modeled electromagnetic output (e.g., an electromagnetic mesh for each simulation step with a voltage at each point of the electromagnetic mesh) for that source configuration.

  • Patent number: 10551471
Abstract: Data quality of Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is receiving increasing attention as it has been identified as one of the limiting factors that affect many wide-area measurement system (WAMS) based applications. In general, existing PMU calibration methods include offline testing and model based approaches. However, in practice, the effectiveness of both is limited due to the very strong assumptions employed. This invention presents a novel framework for online error detection and calibration of PMU measurement using density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) based on much relaxed assumptions. With a new problem formulation, the proposed data mining based methodology is applicable across a wide spectrum of practical conditions and one side-product of it is more accurate transmission line parameters for the energy management system (EMS) database and protective relay settings. Case studies are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for modeling integrated circuit (IC) performance. In these embodiments, a parasitic extraction process is performed to generate a netlist that, not only accounts for various parasitics within the IC, but also accounts for substrate-generated signal distortions (e.g., substrate-generated harmonic signal distortions) that occur within the IC. During this netlist extraction process, the design layout of the IC is analyzed to identify parasitics that are to be represented in the netlist and to also identify any circuit elements with output signals that are subject to substrate-generated signal distortions. When such circuit elements are identified, signal distortion models, which were previously empirically determined and stored in a model library, which correspond to the identified circuit elements, and which account for the signal distortions, are selected from the model library and incorporated into the netlist.

As components are added or removed to an existing design, the data integration system removes the need to specify all input and output attributes. In one aspect, components types are implemented that allow assignment expressions to reference all or part of upstream components. Therefore, attributes of certain types of components can be propagated to downstream components or otherwise inherited from upstream components with minimal effort on the part of a map designer. During code generation the attributes required to be projected by any component can be derived based on the needs of the downstream components.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a method and apparatus for creating editable feature curves for a multi-dimensional model represented by a tessellated mesh are described. A mesh representation of a multi-dimensional model may not support intuitive modification of the model. The mesh representing the multi-dimensional model may be analyzed to extract feature curves that define the characteristics of the multi-dimensional model. Such feature curves may provide an intuitive mechanism for modifying the multi-dimensional model. The model may be modified by changing the constraints of the feature curves defining the model's characteristics. For example, a constraint may be modified to change the angle of the surface on either side of a location on a feature curve. A compressed representation of a multi-dimensional model may include the feature curves that define the shape of multi-dimensional model and a set of boundary curves that represent disjoint regions of the multi-dimensional model.

The user can utilize the VUT to continuously pass the camera over additional text strings so that the translated text displayed over the viewed image or video is continuously updated for each new text string.

Abstract: The present invention proposes methods, devices and computer program products. To this extent, there is defined a set X including N distinct parameter values x_i for at least one input parameter x, N being an integer greater than or equal to 1, first measured the physical quantity Pm1 for each of the N distinct parameter values x_i of the at least one input parameter x, while keeping all other input parameters fixed, constructed a Vandermonde matrix VM using the set of N parameter values x_i of the at least one input parameter x, and computed the model W for emulating the physical quantity P based on the Vandermonde matrix and the first measured physical quantity according to the equation W=(VMT*VM)?1*VMT*Pm1. The model is iteratively refined so as to obtained a desired emulation precision. The model can later be used to emulate the physical quantity based on input parameters or logs taken from the field and thereby support device design optimization.

Abstract: According to embodiments, systems and methods for detecting the occurrence of events from a signal are provided. A signal processing system may analyze baseline changes and changes in signal characteristics to detect events from a signal. The system may also detect events by analyzing energy parameters and artifacts in a scalogram of the signal. Further, the system may detect events by analyzing both the signal and its corresponding scalogram.

Abstract: A baseline predictive maintenance method for a target device (TD) and a computer program product thereof are provided. Fresh samples which are generated when the target device produces workpieces just after maintenance are collected, and a new workpiece sample which is generated when the target device produces a new workpiece is collected. A plurality of modeling samples are used to build a TD baseline model in accordance with a conjecturing algorithm, wherein the modeling samples include the new workpiece sample and the fresh samples. A TD healthy baseline value for the new workpiece is computed by the TD baseline model, and a device health index (DHI), a baseline error index (BEI) and baseline individual similarity indices (ISIB) are computed, thereby achieving the goals of fault detection and classification (FDC) and predictive maintenance (PdM).

  • Patent number: 8626353
Abstract: System and method of solving, in a single-period, an optimal dispatching problem for a network of energy generators connected via multiple transmission lines, where it is sought to find the lowest operational cost of dispatching of various energy sources to satisfy demand. The model includes traditional thermal resources and renewable energy resources available generation capabilities within the grid. The method considers demand reduction as a virtual generation source that can be dispatched quickly to hedge against the risk of unforeseen shortfall in supply. Demand reduction is dispatched in response to incentive signals sent to consumers. The control options of the optimization model consist of the dispatching order and dispatching amount energy units at generators together with the rebate signals sent to end-users at each node of the network under a demand response policy. Numerical experiments based on an analysis of representative data illustrate the effectiveness of demand response as a hedging option.
