Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving, at a backend server, a first request for a shared ride and a desired drop-off location from a first passenger; analyzing, by the backend server, a plurality of prospective routes to a plurality of prospective drop-off locations that are within a drop-off area associated with a desired drop-off location; selecting, by the backend server, a first drop-off location for the first passenger from the plurality of drop-off locations and a route to the first drop-off location based upon the likelihood of receiving a request for a shared ride with a prospective pick-up location within a limit of deviation from the route; and navigating a driver for at least a portion of the selected route.

To transfer editing control to a mobile device, a barcode is displayed on the monitor which conveys information regarding the form to the mobile device through its camera.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media that assist pharmacy customers with medication adherence are disclosed. A user interface on a user device includes a virtual pill case including prescription information about a medication. A processing device includes a pharmacy account module, a search engine module, and a communications module. The pharmacy account module receives a request to monitor a user activity, stores the request in a database, and initiates a data search operation, and transmits prescription information to the search engine module. The search engine module receives the prescription information, generates a search on a third party server, and receives and sends the results to the pharmacy account module. The pharmacy account module evaluates the results to retrieve updated medication information and updates the virtual pill case, determines a triggering event associated with the medication occurred, and generates a notification.

Abstract: In a structured communication system, a message is received at a server from a communication application of a first client device. Based on content of the message, an unstructured portion of the message and a predefined set of allowable responses to the message are identified. The message is then outputted to a second client device. A response is received to the message from the second client device. The server determines whether response to the message complies with the predefined set of allowable responses to the message. Responsive to the response not complying, an invalid response message is sent to the second client device indicating that the response is not compliant. Responsive to the response complying, the response is sent to the first client device.

Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for validating a ticket to an event, which is being sold or otherwise transferred in the aftermarket. A management system maintains the status of a ticket, either committed or uncommitted, along with a ticket ID and other ticket and event information. An event entry system requires presentation of a ticket and, if the ticket has been committed, a correct current passkey. The passkey identifies the person presenting the ticket as the owner of the ticket. Ticket validation and uncommitment functionalities are also provided by an after-market ticket validation system.

Abstract: A software development kit (SDK) is disclosed that can reduce unnecessarily polling of a network service. The SDK is modified to cache response objects received from a network service that describe the state of a computing resource. Polling requests received for the state of the computing resource are satisfied from the cache when possible, thereby avoiding the polling of the network service. Entries in the cache can be invalidated based upon events generated by the network service that indicate that the state of the computing resource has changed.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling a shared machine. The shared machine includes a mechanism that allows for an operational function of the shared machine to be controlled via a control system. A server system can process location information that indicates a location of the shared machine to determine whether the location corresponds to a non-permitted area. When the location corresponds to a non-permitted area, a command is generated to automatically place the mechanism in a first state so that the operational function of the shared machine is prevented from being enabled while the shared machine remains in the non-permitted area.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for providing an enhanced hotel guest experience. Disclosed methods include the actions of receiving data indicating the presence of a hotel guest from one or more sensors; generating a likelihood score that the hotel guest is going to their hotel room; determining that the generated likelihood score exceeds a likelihood threshold score; and based on determining that the generated likelihood score exceeds the likelihood threshold score, sending one or more instructions to one or more devices located within the hotel room.

Abstract: Described herein is a sparse tree data structure that may be utilized to selectively retrieve database records containing information relevant to an obtained query. Specifically, the sparse tree data structure may be utilized to prevent combinatorial explosion that may occur where responses to an obtained query requires a combination of information from multiple records. Rather than explicitly enumerate all possible combinations, the sparse tree data structure enables implicit enumeration of those combinations to determine combinations of highest relevancy. In one embodiment, the sparse tree implements a specific algorithm within the “branch-and-bound” algorithmic paradigm to reduce the time and computational resources required to response to a query.

An access management system can send a request to query a (e.g., cached or authoritative) data store for available access rights. The query may include an exact-match or fuzzy query. A set of access-right results responsive to the query can be identified. The system may transmit a communication to the user device that identifies the set, or a subset thereof. Upon receiving a selection of a result, the system can facilitate assigning access rights corresponding to the identified result to the user. In some instances, a level of precision at which a characteristic of an access-right result is identified and/or whether or how access rights are held depends on a request load.

A first CS case is created based on the data from the first SP to create a record that includes social content information about the first SP and automatically link the first SP to the CRM system. The social content information includes a message from the first SP and an author of the first SP. The CS application causes the first CS case to be displayed, generates a first response to the first SP, and publishes a first social reply including the first response.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enabling more efficient tipping by providing a merchant the ability to reduce the time used on manually entering tip amounts. In one embodiment, a method includes automatically generating, by a point-of-sale (POS) system, a transaction receipt that indicates a plurality of selectable tip options, wherein said automatically generating the transaction receipt is based on one or more rules specified by a user of the POS system. The method further includes causing the transaction receipt to be printed as a printed receipt. The method further includes identifying, by the POS system, a one of the plurality of selectable tip options specified by a customer on the printed receipt. Among other benefits, the disclosed techniques reduce the time and effort the merchant needs to spend on collating the tipping at end of the business day.

Each level of subquery can be chunked or the results broken into subsets using pagination. Abstract: A recommendation system for generating location recommendations for drivers of public service vehicles is disclosed. The system segments a map of an area of interest into segments or regions and analyzes historical call data to estimate demand in the regions. The analysis also determines values of the calls in the regions. For example, the analysis estimates the probability of the calls and values of such calls in each region. The analysis may include time patterns to improve accuracy of the estimation. By using the results of the analysis along with current information, such as current location of a vehicle, current time, and real-time traffic information, a holding location recommendation is generated.
