Abstract: Disclosed are an address book maintenance method and platform. The method includes: creating at least one group address book, and assigning a group ID to the at least one group address book; and upon receiving a request for downloading and updating a user address book form a user equipment, updating the user address book according to the at least one group address book. With the technical solutions, users are capable of quickly and conveniently managing and updating address books.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for classifying records by sorting records based on both quantitative and qualitative information at a node in a decision tree. Technologies are also disclosed for determining whether records are linked together by applying quantitative and qualitative information at the same nodes in a decision tree. Furthermore, improvements to decision trees are disclosed in terms of the generation and/or training of decision trees that harnesses additional information in the quantitative and qualitative aspects that a unit of data relevant to a single node, and/or the relationships between these aspects, may provide a machine learning algorithm.

Abstract: Tags on documents are clustered using tag weightings of the tags on the documents. Each cluster includes an identified subject. The identified subjects are compared to identify relationships between the identified subjects. A taxonomy of subjects is built using the identified relationships between the identified subjects programmatically without user intervention.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for intelligently, or programmatically, assigning weights for one or more criterion utilized to score media content items based on an analysis of a group of media content items. In general, scoring criteria to be used to score media content items for a user are defined. A group of media content items associated with the user is then analyzed with respect to the criteria to provide results such as a number or percentage of media content items from the group of media content items that satisfy each of the scoring criteria. Based on the results of the analysis, a weight is assigned to each of the scoring criteria. Thereafter, media content items are scored for the user as a function of the weights assigned to the scoring criteria.

Abstract: In a method of generating a search boost vector, a first set of content location identifiers for first content are provided. A second set of content location identifiers for second content are identified. The second content is related to the first content in accordance with one or more predefined criteria. A search boost vector is generated by determining weights corresponding to content location identifiers in the second set of content location identifiers. The search boost vector may also be generated by determining weights corresponding to content location identifiers in the first set of content location identifiers. The predefined criteria may include one or more additional content location identifiers that are co-visited with one or more content location identifiers for the first set of content location identifiers. Co-visits are by a community of users during an interval of time.

Each sample is represented as a minterm to yield a set of minterms. A characteristic function is generated from the set of minterms. The characteristic function indicates whether a given minterm is a member of the set of minterms.

Abstract: A user may submit product title information to a server. The server may generate a phrase based on the product title information. The server may then search a database to find relevancies between the phrase and product categories corresponding to multiple nodes in a product category tree. Based on the relevancies, the server may select a node from the multiple nodes. The server may associate the product title information with the node corresponding to a product category when the node is a leaf node of the product category tree.

Abstract: File management machines, computer readable media, and methods of file management, are provided. An exemplary file management machine includes a file management server configured to receive or retrieve user files through an electronic communication/computer network to provide categorical organization and establishment of albums. The file management server can also function to create member user and visitor accounts. The visitor accounts can be provided individual custom access by the member user to provide individualized tailored access to a subset of the files uploaded by the member user. The visitor accounts can be used as to gather information about the file unknown to the member user.

Abstract: A method for data access includes defining an ontology (26) pertaining to a given sphere of knowledge. A computer (22) receives a search query generated using the ontology and provides to a user of the computer at least one document in response to the query. The computer receives tags that the user has associated with data elements in the at least one document and automatically updates the ontology responsively to the tags.

Abstract: Entries within a participant list of an electronic communications system may be categorized automatically into one or more groups based on attributes of users represented in the participant list. Categorizing users includes maintaining a list of identifiers that are selected by a first user and for which online presence information is made perceivable through the list. The list includes one or more categories into which the identifiers are categorized. At least one attribute associated with an identifier for which online presence information is to be made perceivable through the list and attributes stored relative to at least one of the categories are accessed. The attributes associated with the identifier are compared to the stored attributes. Based on results of the comparison, at least one category within the list that corresponds to the identifier is identified, and the identifier is categorized into the identified category.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for analyzing a plurality of rules in a textual rules structure. Further, the plurality of rules are decomposed into a plurality of contexts, based on the analysis. In addition, the plurality of contexts are stored in a table. Furthermore, a database associated with a device and/or any robot equipped with an operating system may be utilized.

Abstract: Digital goods libraries are compared via their datasets, which include organizational data and history data. Potential comparison results include a shared multiple natural languages presence, shared genre frequency change, shared artist frequency change, shared digital good frequency change, shared outlier presence, shared similar songs presence, and/or shared recommendable goods presence. Proper subsets of datasets may be specified by playlist, genre, artist, category, date, play frequency, and/or play count, and then compared. Comparison results may be visualized, such as playlist content over time, play frequency over time, and/or play count over time. Some results include printed or spoken text such as an artist name, actor name, author name, genre name, and/or review content. Control over disclosure of library owner identity is provided. In some cases a dataset is compared with multiple datasets in a group, e.g., to help assess compatibility between a prospective member and current members of the group.

Activities that generate certain categories of data based on other categories of data through the application of knowledge which can be categorized into classifications, assessments, resolutions, and enactments. Activities can be driven by a Classification-Assessment-Resolution-Enactment (CARE) control engine. The CARE control and these categorizations can be used to enhance a multitude of systems, for example diagnostic system, such as through historical record keeping, machine learning, and automation. Such a diagnostic system can include a system that forecasts computing system failures based on the application of knowledge to system vital signs such as thread or stack segment intensity and memory heap usage. These vital signs are facts that can be classified to produce information such as memory leaks, convoy effects, or other problems.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improved management of sentiments over conventional approaches are disclosed. Supervised approach is used to augment the rule-based approach for classification. Initially, sentiment evaluation is performed by the system using a rule based approach and an interface is provided to the user to give feedback on the correctness of evaluated sentiment. This feedback is used by the sentiment evaluation system to update the set of rule-based and also apply the supervised approach to train the classifier for evaluating complex posts.

Abstract: Technology is disclosed for classification of data objects (e.g., files) in a distributed file system based on application creation and/or access information. In some embodiments, data objects of a user are stored across multiple computing devices associated with a user, e.g., mobile computing devices such as a tablet, a laptop, or a smartphone, and/or at server systems, e.g., cloud-based storage servers, in a distributed cloud-based storage system. The technology described tracks the applications that create or touch particular data objects in the distributed file system and classifies the data objects according to these applications resulting in various application classifications. Abstract: A system for creating and using a universal tag to gather consumer data from a website for the purposes of targeted advertising is provided. The universal tag system has two main subsystems. The first subsystem is a configuration system that is used to define the consumer data to be collected from the website and to define taxonomy and transformation rules to be applied to the collected consumer data. The second subsystem is a runtime system that runs a universal tag client-side script, which is triggered when a consumer lands on a webpage of the website, for collecting the defined consumer data. The runtime system then applies the transformation rules to the collected data and updates a user profile corresponding to the consumer with the transformed data. As well, the runtime system applies the taxonomy rules to the collected data and categorizes the consumer for the purposes of subsequent targeted advertising.

Abstract: A system that allows individuals to maintain lists of items of interest in an account, such as books, restaurants, hotels, clothes, etc. An individual can mark items in their account as recommended, after which other individuals in their sharing network can view the recommended items as grouped into categories. Items are displayed with action links (e.g. for purchasing, reservations, mapping, etc.) In an explore view categories are displayed for all of the combined recommended items from all of the individuals in the viewer's sharing network. When a category is selected from the explore view, an indication is provided for each item as to the individual who marked the item as recommended. An individual viewing a recommended item may also save the item to their own account as one to try later. The distribution of items between individuals through recommendations can be temporally and geographically mapped to identify patterns of interest.

An application programming interface (API) receives a request to generate a playlist, where the request includes a set of rule-primitives. A playlist engine evaluator evaluates a rule corresponding to each rule-primitive in the set of rule-primitives across a catalog of media content, calculates a cost associated with each item in the catalog of media content, and generates a playlist based on the items of the catalog having the lowest costs.

Abstract: An electronic document classification system disclosed herein classifies electronic documents. The classification of the documents may involve analyzing the document and the information attached to the document to generate a set of classification data and comparing the classification data with one or more classification rules to generate a set of classifying data. The system attaches the set of classifying data to the electronic document and displays the electronic document based on the set of classifying data. The classification data may also be used to prioritize the electronic documents and to assign a retention period to the electronic documents. The system is further adapted to receive user feedback regarding the classification of the electronic document and to update the classification rules.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for generating a taxonomic view from a standard taxonomy and generating audience segments for targeting using a formal grammar. A manually-tagged subset of categories of the standard taxonomy is provided to a server. Each category in the subset of categories is tagged based on an entity's own legacy taxonomy. A taxonomy slicer is applied to the subset of manually-tagged categories to determine parent/child relationships for each category in the subset, and to assemble the categories into the taxonomic view. The taxonomic view maintains interoperability with the standard taxonomy, and with other entities using views of the standard taxonomy. Further, a formal grammar is defined for specifying online behaviors for targeting, and is applied to extracted categories of the standard taxonomy and/or taxonomic view. The formal grammar may be programmatically applied during behavioral targeting.

The method includes the steps of capturing metadata of one or more data sources, capturing metadata of one or more data sets comprising the one or more data sources, capturing metadata of one or more fields comprising one or more of the data sets, and capturing metadata of content within zero or more of the fields. The extracted metadata is stored to a non-volatile computer readable storage medium.

Abstract: A classification process may reduce the computational resources and time required to collect and classify training data utilized to enable a user to effectively access online information. According to some implementations, training data is established by defining one or more seed queries and query patterns. A bi-partite graph may be constructed using the seed query and query pattern information. A traversal of the bi-partite graph can be performed to expand the training data to encompass sufficient data to perform classification of the present search task.
