Abstract: A system that builds a network using a document collection wherein the documents are collected and represented as a plurality of nodes in a network matrix. The documents that are to be analyzed are bound to the network (corpus) at a discrete node corresponding to the document. The documents are then analyzed to determine term frequency within each document and the overall term frequency of the same term throughout the entire document grouping. This creates a weighting value that determines the relevancy of each document as compared to the entire network of documents. Finally, weighting values are normalized with relative weighting values so that the sum of the weights of all edges connected to a given node equals 1. User queries then proceed through the network from node to node using the algorithm of the present invention to locate documents relevant to the search.

Abstract: A method for processing one or more terms includes, at a first computation facility, computing an obfuscated numerical representation for each of the terms. The computed obfuscated representations are provided from the first facility to a second computation facility. A result of an arithmetic computation based on the provided obfuscated values is received at the first facility. This received result represents an obfuscation of a result of application of a first function to the terms. The received result is processed to determine the result of application of the first function to the terms.

Abstract: In a method for improving the efficiency of a search engine in accessing, searching and retrieving information in the form of documents stored in document or content repositories, the search engine comprises an array of search nodes hosted on one or more servers. An index of the stored document is created. The search engine processes a user search query and returns a result set of query-matching documents. The index of the search engine is configured on the basis of one or more document properties and partitioned, replicated and distributed over the array of the search nodes. The search queries are processed on the basis of the distributed index. The method realizes a framework for distributing the index of a search engine across several hosts in a computer cluster, relying on three orthogonal mechanisms for index distribution, namely index partitioning, index replication, and assignment of replicas to hosts.

Abstract: Document, such as web pages of a domain, are annotated to facilitate extracting structured information from the documents. The documents are clustered. Each cluster is such that the documents within that cluster are similar to each other at least with respect to a first threshold, such as according to a shingling metric, where the first threshold is an 8/8 shingling match. There is at least one overlap cluster, each overlap cluster including at least one of the plurality of clusters such that documents of the at least one cluster included in that overlap cluster are similar to each other at least with respect to a second threshold that is lower than the first threshold. A particular overlap cluster is designated, as is a particular cluster of the particular overlap cluster. For the particular designated cluster, an obtained annotation is transferred to other clusters included in the designated particular overlap cluster.

Abstract: Disclosed methods and computer program products provide tools for analyzing documents. For example, a computer program product that is stored on a computer-readable storage medium includes instructions that, when executed, cause a computer system to perform certain steps. The steps include, for example, receiving a selection of two or more documents for comparison, the documents including numbered sections, and automatically determining matching numbered sections between the two or more documents. In one embodiment, the steps further include, in response to the determining, displaying in a graphical user interface a representation of a first set of numbered sections from a first of the documents and a representation of a second set of numbered sections from a second of the documents, and indicating, in the graphical user interface, matching numbered sections between the first set of numbered sections and the second set of numbered sections.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system that implements a Securities Tracking Management System (STMS) for providing an effective solution to clear, track, detect, manage, and alert various entities of invalid securities certificates. The STMS tracks securities certificates (particularly as they become invalid), and enables users to promptly query for invalid securities certificates without requiring the intervention of a transfer agent. In one embodiment, the STMS contains details of all invalid physical certificates that ever existed. The STMS may act as an early warning system for the clearing of physical certificates during the dematerialization process. Further, the STMS may also issue alerts of attempts to convert in securities certificates that are already marked as invalid in the STMS database. Further, the STMS allows the various entities involved in securities certificate trafficking to better track and manage expired certificates in an easier, more secure and transparent manner.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media provide for efficient paging of search results in accordance with the access rights of a user. According to various implementations, a request for a search query results in a calculated number of search results being retrieved and analyzed for user access rights. As documents having user access rights are located, session state information corresponding to the number of located documents having user access rights and to the number of analyzed documents required to locate the number of documents having user access rights is maintained. This information is used to dynamically alter the number of subsequent documents that are retrieved in order to fill a page of results. This minimizes redundant determinations of user access rights and minimizes the number of documents required to be retrieved and analyzed in order to fulfill a search query request.
