Abstract: A user inputs a document to be registered in a document management server to a document transfer assisting apparatus. The document transfer assisting apparatus automatically acquires attribute information of a document designated by the user, based on an instruction input by the user. The document transfer assisting apparatus further makes an addition or a change to the acquired attribute information according to the user's instruction. The document transfer assisting apparatus then outputs a copy of the designated document and attribute information thereof to a predetermined folder and a predetermined file, which can be referred to by the monitor apparatus. The monitor apparatus monitors the folder and file, and registers the copied file in the folder based on information output to the file.

Abstract: A system and method for innovation documents is disclosed. A database stores an innovation classification system, ontology, synonym vocabulary and fill word list plus prior innovation descriptions. An innovation document, describing a new innovation is received and processed (3-2), including identifying key words by ignoring fill words (3-4); using the synonym vocabulary (3-6) and ontology (3-10) to produce (3-12) a systematized innovation document; weighting (3-14) the key words of the systematized innovation document by mapping its key words against the innovation classification system (3-16); determining an optimal placement (3-18) for the innovation document in the innovation classification system based on the weights; and outputting the optimal placement and at least part of the innovation classification system.

Each folder which configures the folder tree is converted into a search folder which can search for documents assigned with the attribute values using the name of that folder as a search condition.

A method of searching for elements of a document comprises the following main operations in addition to the operations of preliminary image processing: selecting the varieties of structural description from several available variants, determining the orientation of the image, selecting the text objects, where the text must be recognized, and determining the minimal required volume of recognition, recognizing the text objects, searching for elements of the form. Searching for elements of the form comprises the following actions: selecting a searched element in the structural description, gaining the algorithm of search constraints from the structural description, searching for the element, testing the obtained variants.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing multi-phase ranking of web search results by re-ranking results using feature and label calibration are provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, a ranking function is trained by using machine learning techniques on a set of training samples to produce ranking scores. The ranking function is used to rank the set of training samples according to its ranking score, in order of its relevance to a particular query. Next, a re-ranking function is trained by the same training samples to re-rank the documents from the first ranking. The features and labels of the training samples are calibrated and normalized before they are reused to train the re-ranking function. By this method, training data and training features used in past trainings are leveraged to perform additional training of new functions, without requiring the use of additional training data or features.

In general, the results of executing an abstract query may be used as data inputs for processing an abstract rule. In one embodiment, query results may be sorted according to input field values required for processing a deterministic abstract rule. If a record of the sorted query results includes the same input values as a preceding record, then the rule output of the preceding record may be reused, rather than processing the abstract rule again. Accordingly, the demand load placed on a rule engine may be reduced.

Abstract: A system is provided for enabling a user to search for documents that the user has previously viewed on its local machine. The system may include three main components: the desktop integration module, the index module, and the graphical user interface module. The desktop integration module is an application which monitors documents with which the user interacts for predetermined events, and obtains content data and metadata from the monitored documents. The index module indexes the content data and metadata received from the desktop integration module. The graphical user interface module then permits a user to utilize the desktop integration module and index module by allowing a user to search for a document.

Abstract: A problem of prior art is that normal backup data is lost as a result of taking a backup by overwriting the normal backup data with data that has been changed greatly from a virus infection or the like. This invention provides a computer system having a storage system. The storage system contains a first storage area and a second storage area for storing a copy of data that is stored in the first storage area at one point in time. Only when the differential amount indicating the difference between data stored in the first storage area and data stored in the second storage area is smaller than a predetermined threshold, the storage system deletes the data which is stored in the second storage area and newly stores a copy of the data stored in the first storage area in the second storage area.

Abstract: In a search system, document terms are weighted as a function of prevalence in a data set, the documents are scored as a function of prevalence and weight of the document terms contained therein, and then independently, the documents are ranked for a given search as a function of (a) their corresponding document scores and (b) the closeness of the search terms and the document terms. The steps can all be accomplished using matrices. Subsets of the documents can be identified with various collections, and each of the collections can be assigned a matrix signature. The signatures can then be compared against terms in the search query to determine which of the subsets would be most useful for a given search.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system for automatically controlling access to electronic documents. Such a system can include a set of electronic documents, a set of access queues, and a document access manager. Each access queue in the set of access queues can be configured to store a waiting list of reviewers for a specific electronic document. The document access manager can be configured to automatically add access requests for an electronic document to the corresponding access queue when the electronic document is currently being accessed. Additionally, the document access manager can automatically transfer access of the electronic document to the next reviewer in the access queue when the electronic document becomes available.

Abstract: An enterprise content management system such as an electronic contract system manages a large number of secure documents for many organizations. The search of these private documents for different organizational users with role-based access control is a challenging task. A content-based extensible mark-up language (XML)-annotated secure-index search mechanism is provided that provides an effective search and retrieval of private documents with document-level security. The search mechanism includes a document analysis framework for text analysis and annotation, a search indexer to build and incorporate document access control information directly into a search index, an XML-based search engine, and a compound query generation technique to join user role and organization information into search query.

Abstract: A method and system for identifying print jobs that are repeats of a previously completed job utilizing an object level hash table. Received print jobs can be parsed into meaningful classes of objects and a table of hash values can be computed for objects in each class and for each print job. A synopsis comprising the table of hash values can be retained in a database along with the job specific settings. A newly encountered job can be then declared as a repeat of a previous job based on the hashes for the new job that match the hash values for the previous job stored in the database. The classes of objects are readily determinable in common document formats used for print job submission, such as PDF.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for searching for virtual objects of an immersive virtual environment based on user interactions within the virtual environment. Generally, embodiments provide an attribute index storing data describing attributes of virtual objects, and an interaction index storing data describing user interactions with virtual objects. Search queries may be evaluated using both the attribute index and interactions index. Thus, virtual objects may be searched in terms of object attributes as well as user interactions with the virtual objects.

Abstract: An initial distribution list is dynamically modified using criteria determined from the current entries in the list. After an originator generates a distribution list and prior to submission of the message to entries on the generated list, the method of the present invention examines the entries in the created distribution list. From this list, the invention identifies features of the entries. From these features, the method generates criteria that can be used to generate additional entries that may be included in the list. In one approach, the generated criteria are presented to the user for review and approval. If the originator approves the criteria, the generated list is modified to add additional entries to the distribution based on the generated criteria. If the originator rejects the criteria, the initially generated list is submitted and the message is sent to the entries on the initial list.

Part data is processed based on the mapping taxonomies during which the data is mapped to a canonical category. Abstract: Information retrieval using query-document pair information is described. In an embodiment, a click record is accessed having information about queries and documents where user clicks have been observed for query-document pairs. A click graph is either formed or accessed. This has nodes connected by edges, each node representing any of a document and a query and each edge representing at least one observed click. Given at least one first node in the click graph, a similarity measure is determined between that first node and each of one or more second nodes. The second nodes are then ranked on the basis of the similarity measure results and the ranking is used to retrieve information from the click record.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for efficiently evaluating database queries that include hierarchical cube computations. During second and subsequent evaluation phases (if any), a database server does not re-determine groups (nor re-aggregate within such groups) that have already been determined in a previous evaluation phase. Instead, according to a technique described herein, whenever an evaluation phase subsequent to the first evaluation phase is performed, the database server immediately outputs or otherwise returns certain groups and aggregate results that were determined based on certain grouping column sets that were generated in the previous evaluation phase. The database server does not aggregate within these certain groups when performing aggregation in the current evaluation phase, thereby avoiding the duplication of work already performed during previous evaluation phases.

The model parameters are instantiated using a first subset of the selected set of documents.
