Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for automatically verifying layout of content such as web pages, e-books, and so forth which comprise a markup language. The content is rendered in a headless browser without presentation to a display to generate a document object model (“DOM”) for the content. The DOM is used to generate a DOM vector array which may be analyzed to determine layout errors such as blocks of content overlaying one another, improper placement of critical elements, and so forth.

Abstract: Examples described herein relate to music discovery. In one aspect, a method is provided that involves (a) receiving by a computing device an indication of a search tool from among a plurality of search tools, where each search tool of the plurality of search tools is associated with at least one respective media service, (b) receiving by the computing device an indication of a media characteristic, where the computing device receives the media characteristic via the indicated search tool, (c) selecting by the computing device one or more of the at least one respective media service that maintains media associated with the indicated media characteristic, and (d) sending by the computing device an indication of the selected one or more of the at least one respective media service.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus to initiate a session with a packet gateway for a connecting device configured to authenticate with a subscribing wireless device's authentication information. In some embodiments, an access node is configured to receive identification information uniquely identifying the connecting device, and based on the identification information received, provide a service to the connecting device and/or send a session request message to the packet gateway to establish a session for the connecting device, the session request message including information distinguishing the connecting device from another wireless device configured to authenticate with the authentication information associated with the subscribing wireless device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for distributed data annotation in accordance embodiments of the invention are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, a distributed data annotation server system includes a storage device configured to store source data, one or more annotators, annotation tasks and a processor, wherein a distributed data annotation application configures the processor to receive source data including one or more pieces of source data, select one or more annotators, create one or more annotation tasks for the selected annotators and source data, request one or more annotations for the source data using the annotation tasks, receive annotations, determine source data metadata for at least one piece of source data using the received annotations, generate annotator metadata for at least one annotator using the received annotations and the source data, and estimate the ground truth for the source data using the source data metadata and the annotator metadata.

In various examples, the trained probabilistic model is used to predict sequences of source code elements. Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for obtaining video streams is presented. A device-agnostic request to obtain a video stream is received from an application executing on a client device, the device-agnostic request including a universal resource identifier (URI) for the video stream, the URI including a type of the video stream and at least one of a name of the video stream and device-specific parameters for the video stream. The URI is analyzed to identify a media device from which the video stream is available. A device-specific library for the media device is identified. A device-specific request corresponding to the device-agnostic request is executed to obtain the video stream, the device-specific request including the URI. The video stream is received from the media device responsive to executing the device-specific request. The video stream is provided to the application.

Abstract: A method for automatically forming a master digital audio track is disclosed. A processing device of a digital audio workstation (DAW) may receive a plurality of audio tracks. For each audio track of a plurality of audio tracks, the processing device may place one or more split points at one or more locations on the audio track to produce a plurality of segments that are free of sudden changes in one or more properties of a waveform corresponding to the track. For each audio track of a plurality of audio tracks, the processing device may score each segment of the plurality of segments according to at least one of how closely a pitch of the corresponding waveform is in tune and a degree to which the waveform in the segment surpasses a pre-determined threshold of volume. The processing device may align the plurality of segments of each track of the plurality of audio tracks according to corresponding split points across the plurality of audio tracks.

The exemplary method includes a sequence of steps where a rectangular zone associated with the page is analyzed by looking for lines that entirely cross the zone, either horizontally or vertically. A hierarchy of grid-based structures are then identified, which can be used for analysis of the document and/or data extraction.

Abstract: A method for preparing a presentation connects a plurality of geographically dispersed contributors to a controller through a network to collaborate to prepare the presentation, allows the contributors to propose contributions to the presentation residing on storage devices under the control of the contributors, makes the proposed contributions available for viewing and comment by all contributors, allows the controller to select one or more of the proposed contributions, and provides the controller access through the network to the storage devices to retrieve the selected contributions for inclusion into the presentation.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a media-editing application. The application receives a selection of several media clips for creating a multi-camera media clip. Based on metadata stored with the media clips that identifies sources of the media clips, the application automatically assigns the clips to at least two different groups in the multi-camera media clip. For each group of the multi-camera media clip, the application automatically orders the assigned clips along a timeline using timing data. The application uses the timing data to automatically initially synchronize the different groups of the multi-camera media clip. The application automatically adjusts the initial synchronization of the groups by comparing audio data of media clips assigned to different groups.

Abstract: A mobile video editing and sharing systems for social media referred to as the CAPTURE system, which improves over prior video editing systems for smartphones through a more extensive editing suite including functionality for adding and altering music to video files. The video editing portion of the system allows for further creative freedom and expansion than what is already offered. Firstly, current limitation on video are length are far too short; the system allows users to record up to one full minute of video, as well the ability to choose previously recorded video footage from the user's “Camera Roll” within the iOS software. Following this, the CAPTURE system offers a variety of specialty filters in addition to the color alteration filters typically provided in prior systems. The filters include reverse, speed and 3D effect, which adjust the visual content of the video without altering the music track.

Additionally, respective feedback is provided to users who provided recommendations on the quality of their recommendations, and based upon specified criteria users are prompted to provide additional recommendations.

Abstract: An apparatus and method allowing for high-quality data acquisition and playback processing based on content information transmitted from a server to a client are provided. Property information constituting meta-information corresponding to content-associated attribute information stores data-scheme information on original content held by the server, such as file format information, codec information representing an encoded-data scheme, and resolution information. In response to a content information acquisition request from the client, content information including the data-scheme information on the original content is generated and is transmitted to the client. This structure allows the client to output a content transmission request in which the optimum data scheme is determined based on the data scheme of the original content. Therefore, high-quality data acquisition and playback can be achieved.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, from beacons of a third-party content provider (e.g., a business), session information for users of an online social network. A mobile device of each user may have been in at least one wireless communication session with at least one beacon, and during the session the mobile device was proximate to the at least one beacon. The session information may include an identifier for each of the users, which may be used to access social-networking information for each user. A report of business insights may be generated based on aggregated social-networking information (e.g., demographics) and aggregated session information (e.g., average duration of sessions) of the users. For example, the report may include statistics regarding the business' clientele. User-specified permissions may delimit which information may be included in the report. The report may be sent to a third-party system for display.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a media player at a computing device, a first portion of a media stream, and initiating playback of the first portion of the media stream. The method further includes compiling the platform-independent representation of the source code to generate a platform-specific component that is executable by the computing device. The horizontal display surface may be typically positioned directly in front of the user, and at a height of about a desktop surface so that the user can have about a 45° looking angle. A compatibility hierarchy may be implemented to determine compatibility of certain electronic content items with other electronic content items, which may be organized into playlists. Other playlists may be populated based at least in part on the compatibility hierarchy. Playlists comprising electronic content items associated with a plurality of sources may be playable by implementing a federated media player.

Abstract: A gaming system includes a game console that executes an application that creates and plays soundtracks through the gaming system. The application allows a user to create soundtracks by copying audio tracks from one or more audio sources. A user-created soundtrack can be associated with a particular game such that the user-created soundtrack is played during execution of the game instead of the game's default soundtrack.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include methods and systems for domain name system (DNS) pre-caching. A method for DNS pre-caching is provided. The method includes receiving uniform resource locator (URL) hostnames for DNS pre-fetch resolution prior to a user hostname request for any of the URL hostnames. The method also includes making a DNS lookup call for at least one of the URL hostnames that are not cached by a DNS cache prior to the user hostname request. The method further includes discarding at least one IP address provided by a DNS resolver for the URL hostnames, wherein a resolution result for at least one of the URL hostnames is cached in the DNS cache in preparation for the user hostname request. A system for DNS pre-caching is provided. The system includes a renderer, an asynchronous DNS pre-fetcher and a hostname table.

Abstract: Methods and systems for supplying media over communication networks are described. In one embodiment, a media supplier determines whether a media object hosted on a web server will be supplied to a client by streaming or not by streaming. Preferably, if the determination is to stream, the media supplier streams the media object to the client. In some cases, the same media supplier may be capable of supplying clients with media objects hosted on any of at least two web servers.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for assigning bandwidth to a network based on two or more different service levels. In an exemplary embodiment, video on-demand (VOD) session requests within a service group of an HFC cable network are assigned bandwidth such that maximum opportunity is given to grant HD VOD request among SD VOD requests, while meeting the goal of minimizing service disruption by spreading the sessions over multiple QAM channels, and limiting the maximum number of active VOD sessions of any kind.

Abstract: Systems and methods for blending dissimilar, ordered populations into a single selection for users are disclosed herein. In an aspect, content items belonging to distinct parent populations which display a large disparity in the value which is used for ranking purposes, can be displayed together in a single continuously ranked list for simple browsing and selection by users. Further, a score can be assigned to the respective media content items based at least in part on a median value of a distribution of media content items corresponding to the respective parent populations and this score can be used as a normalized, universal value with which to rank content from all dissimilar populations together.

Abstract: Optical storage media often contain data structures for a menu suitable for selection of a title, a chapter, a parameter or others. Such menus usually comprise a number of buttons to be displayed, with each button having a state. Possible states of buttons are “unselected”, “selected” or “activated”. According to the invention, the representation of a menu button may vary, depending on its state. An image or an image sequence, e.g. cartoon, may be associated to a buttons state, providing user animation. Further, a sound or sound sequence, e.g. melody or click, may be associated to a buttons state, and may be played back when the button enters this state. A data structure is disclosed which allows storage of such menu data e.g. on a Blu-ray disc.
