Abstract: A system and method for estimating a place affinity for a user is disclosed. The system comprises a gathering module, a communication module and a scoring module. The gathering module receives a place and retrieves rich place data associated with the place. The communication module retrieves user profile data associated with a user and a place affinity model associated with the user. The scoring module estimates an affinity score for the place using the place affinity model based at least in part on the rich place data and the user profile data.

Abstract: A horizontal anomaly detection method includes receiving at plurality of objects described in a plurality of information sources, wherein each individual information source captures a plurality of similarity relationships between the objects, combining the information sources to determine a similarity matrix whose entries represent quantitative scores of similarity between pairs of the objects, and identifying at least one horizontal anomaly of the objects within the similarity matrix, wherein the horizontal anomalies are anomalous relationships across the plurality of information sources.

Abstract: A profile management apparatus for controlling available media content includes an individual identifier module, a profile creation module, a profile selection module, and a media control module. The individual identifier module automatically identifies one or more individuals as currently within a perceiving range of an output device receiving input from a media player without user input. The profile creation module automatically creates a new profile without user input in response to determining that a profile associated with the one or more individuals does not exist. The profile selection module selects at least one profile associated with the one or more individuals. The media control module controls media that is available for selection on the media player based one or more of media usage information and content restriction rules of the at least one profile.

Abstract: The subject disclosure relates to one or more computer-implemented processes for collecting, analyzing, and employing annotations of data sources. In particular, an annotation component is configured to receive annotations of data for a data source, wherein the respective annotations comprise different associations of a global terms with the data of the data source, a data store configured to store the annotations, and an interface component configured to render the data based on the annotations in response to a request for the data. In an aspect, storing information, the data also stores descriptions of the data sources and definitions of the global terms, and the interface component determines a subset of the information in the data store based on the annotations. A method is further provided comprising receiving a global term and determining data sources that have the global term associated with the data thereof based on the information in the data store.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention disclose a method, identifier and a computer program product for identifying influential users among a group of users associated with a communication network. The disclosed method includes selecting two or more ranking models from a plurality of ranking models such that each ranking model provides scores to the users in the group based on a usage data of the users, calculating a weighing factor for each of the selected ranking models, generating an aggregate score for each user using the weighing factor and the score provided by each one of the selected model such that based on the aggregate score, the influential users among the group of users are identified.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically identifying end credits in a media item are disclosed. An analysis component analyzes a media item and identifies a transition point in the media item where end credits begin and a presentation component presents a prompt, such as a survey, based on the transition point. In another aspect, a monitoring component monitors at least one of content or audio of the media item. According to this aspect, the analysis component analyzes the at least one of the content or the audio, identifies a pattern of the media item associated with the end credits, and identifies the transition point as a function of the pattern. In various aspects, the pattern is associated with a streaming of text, a music soundtrack, an absence of speech, an absence object movement, or an absence of an appearance of objects included in the body of the media item.

Abstract: Techniques for media generation and management are described, including retrieving data associated with an asset, processing the data to identify an asset type, the asset type and the data being used to configure an application framework, wherein one or more panels are dynamically determined by evaluating the asset type, the one or more panels being presented in the application framework and at least one of the one or more panels are configured to receive an input initiating an action performed on the asset, and presenting the asset and the one or more panels in an interface coupled to the application framework.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer programs are presented for updating song playlists based on received rating inputs from user devices. One method includes receiving information associated with songs in an initial playlist from a host device by a server. The server generates a rating interface for the initial playlist, which is associated with an image code. The image code for the rating interface is sent to the host device so that the user devices can access the rating interface via the image code. After one or more user devices provides rating inputs to the songs in the initial playlist, the received one or more rating inputs are analyzed to produce an adjusted playlist. The method further includes transmitting the adjusted playlist to the host device to be executed.

Abstract: A first DLA book and a second DLA book are compared, the first DLA book being stored in a data repository and including a first set of objects constructed according to a Common Data Model (CDM) specification to represent a first set of corresponding instances of resources in the data processing environment at a first time, the second DLA book including a second set of objects constructed according to the CDM specification to represent a second set of corresponding instances of the resources in the data processing environment at a second time. Responsive to the comparing, a DLA delta book is created, the DLA delta book including a difference between the first DLA book and the second DLA book. The DLA delta book is combined with the first DLA book stored in the data repository to update the first DLA book.

Email addresses and corresponding person names are extracted from an email message and stored as records each record having an email address and corresponding person name as a key/value pair. A pair of such records is compared. If the person names are known for both records, then a match between the person names is evaluated. If the person name is known for only one of the records, then a match between the known person name for the one record and an email prefix for the other record is evaluated. If the person name is not known for either record, then a match between the email prefixes for both records is evaluated.

Abstract: Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) performance data for a number of patients in which an implantable medical device (IMD) is implanted is aggregated and reports of the aggregated data are generated, e.g., for review by organizations or individual clinicians treating the patients. In one example, a method includes collecting CRT performance data correlated to cardiac rhythm event data for a first group of patients in which an IMD configured to deliver CRT is implanted, aggregating, with a computing device, the CRT performance data correlated to the cardiac rhythm event data for a second group of patients from among the first group of patients, and generating, with the computing device, a report comprising the aggregation of the CRT performance data correlated to the cardiac rhythm event data for the second group of patients.

Abstract: Systems, computer-readable media, and methods for utilizing information pertaining to one or more individuals or entities with which a user has at least one social networking relationship are provided. A search engine is configured to receive a query, to identify matching electronic documents, to rank the electronic documents, and to transmit the matching electronic documents and/or advertisements to the user in response to receiving a query. Upon receiving the query from a user, the search engine obtains a social network identifier of the user and utilizes information about the user's social networking relationships to augment the query with nonretrieval modifiers. The search engine processes the nonretrieval modifiers matching the electronic documents included in search results and ranks the results but does not use the nonretrieval modifiers to identify or retrieve results matching the query. The ranked electronic documents are included in the results and displayed in rank order to the user.

Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to detecting machine translated content. Documents in a document pair are mutual lingual translations of each other. Further, document level features of the documents in the document pair can be identified. The document level features can correlate with translation quality between the documents in the document pair. Moreover, statistical classification can be used to detect whether the document pair is generated through machine translation based at least in part upon the document level features. Further, a first document can be a machine translation of a second document in the document pair or a disparate document when generated through machine translation.

Abstract: A method for contextual data visualization includes receiving data selected by a user and meta-data associated with the data. The data is analyzed, using a processor of a computing device, to determine content and structure attributes of the data that are relevant to visualization of the data. The meta-data is analyzed, using a processor of the computing device, to determine a context in which the visualization of the data will be used. A database comprising an aggregation of visualization records from a plurality of users is accessed and at least one template from the data visualization records that matches the data attributes and context is selected. A data visualization is created by applying at least one template to the data.

One or more terms may be extracted from the document based on the tag. A weighting assignment parameter may be determined for each of the one or more extracted terms. Based on the weighting assignment parameter associated with each of the extracted terms, it may be determined whether the domain ontology includes the one or more extracted terms. If the domain ontology does not include the one or more extracted terms, the domain ontology may be augmented such that the domain ontology comprises the one or more extracted terms.

In some embodiments, contextual commenting on the web includes receiving a content selection for a comment within a corpus of content; determining a contextual based location within the corpus of content to map the contextual comment to a subset of content with the corpus of content; and storing the comment and the contextual based location within the corpus of content for the comment.

Abstract: A search engine database is utilized to identify “entities”, or things for which there exists associated discrete, objective information. For hosted information that is independently available, the entity detector independently accesses such information and identifies entities. For information that has defined potential entities, such as entertainment or lifestyle information such defined potential entities are provided to the entity detector to verify, with reference to the search engine database, whether they are entities. Once entities have been identified, a related task generator, with reference to the search engine database, identifies tasks that are related to the identified entities. Such tasks include informational tasks, economic tasks, time-sensitive and location-sensitive tasks.

The apparatus includes a web document collector to collect web documents provided through web, a web document filter to filter useless documents from the collected web documents, and an issue detector to detect new issues in the filtered documents. Abstract: The present inventive subject matter relates to document management, more particularly to a system and method for information disclosure statement management and prior art cross-citation control. Various embodiments of the present inventive subject matter include systems and methods for controlling the cross-citation and propagation of prior art reference documents from one patent case to another. Some embodiments may include propagation control user interfaces which display to a user sets of patent cases as potential target cases for prior art. In some embodiments, characteristics of the prior art may be identified and used as the basis for selecting and controlling the cross-citation of prior art.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system are provided for reviewing and mapping prior art. The method comprises using one or more processors to identify a first set of cited references cited against a target entity and identify at least a second set of cited references cited against at least one other entity. The first set of references are mapped against the at least second set of references to determine a prior art overlap of references common to both or all sets. A representation of the prior art overlap is communicated to a user. The method may include identifying the owners of the first and at least second sets of cited references.

The method comprises: acquiring meta data and multiple data chunks corresponding to at least one original data object, which are generated by using a data deduplication method; combining the acquired multiple data chunks into a new data object; performing deduplication on the new data object to generate new meta data and new data chunks corresponding to the new data object; and storing the meta data corresponding to the at least one original data object, the new meta data corresponding to the new data object, and the new data chunks. The method and system can further improve deduplication ratio, lower data storage amount, and save costs.

Abstract: One or more mobile devices make measurements while moving along a path. Each measurement may comprise a specific group of identifiers of wireless transmitters, and strengths of corresponding wireless signals. A set of measurements are made in a sequence along a path, and the subsets of the measurements are identified for satisfying a test on a value of a measure of similarity of measurements included in the subset. A new place of relevance is identified, by comparing the just-described subsets of the measurements with similar subsets of additional measurements (e.g. by clustering). Alternatively, a known place of relevance (e.g. having a label) is identified, by comparing the just-described subsets of the measurements with pre-computed model of measurements. Also, the just-described subsets of the measurements may be compared with corresponding subsets of measurements of another path, e.g. to identify common portions therein.

A content management platform causes a specification of one or more hierarchical layers for managing content associated with one or more content stores. The content management platform then determines at least one content collection associated with the one or more content stores. A processing module or other logic can receive workflow data related to operations of vehicles though a supply chain network comprising a set of locations. The processing module can process the workflow data by generating various context views, filtering out some of the data, and other functions. A user or entity can request the processing module for different views or results of the workflow data to gauge efficiencies or inefficiencies in the supply chain. The user or entity can perform modifications to components of the supply chain based on results of the workflow data.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying a new set of media items in response to an input set (or “query set”) of media items and knowledge base metrics. The system uses a knowledge base consisting of a collection of mediasets. Various metrics among media items are considered by analyzing how the media items are grouped to form the mediasets in the knowledge base. Such association or “similarity” metrics are preferably stored in a matrix form that allows the system to efficiently identify a new set of media items that complements the input set of media items.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for protection of data privacy in an enterprise system are described herein. A request to access data stored in an electronic database is received. The data comprises restricted and unrestricted entities. A restricted entity is replaced with one or more masked attributes that protect privacy of the restricted entity. A mask layout comprising the one or more masked attributes is defined for the restricted entity. The one or more masked attributes are then provided to a user in response to the request.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an information combining method, a terminal and an Instant Messaging (IM) system. The method includes: receiving, by a terminal, original tips, and the original tips comprise a tag; parsing, by the terminal, the tag, replacing the tag in the original tips with corresponding terminal information, and generating final tips; displaying, by the terminal, the final tips. Abstract: A method and system for populating identities in a message service involves registering a user of a first messaging service with a second messaging service. User identities for users other than the registered user may be identified. These user identities may be associated with the first messaging service and may be stored in a list associated with the registered user. It is determined if each identified user identity has a matching user identity associated with the second messaging service. If so, a database associated with the second messaging service is populated with the matching user identities. Determining whether a matching user identity exists may be performed, for example, by making character strings comparisons between user identities or using a database that stores a mapping of first messaging service user identities to second messaging service user identities. The mapping database may be generated as corresponding user identities are discovered.
