Abstract: Deterministic Finite Automatons (DFAs) and Nondeterministic Finite Automatons (NFAs) are two typical automatons used in the Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS). Although they both perform regular expression matching, they have quite different performance and memory usage properties. DFAs provide fast and deterministic matching performance but suffer from the well-known state explosion problem. NFAs are compact, but their matching performance is unpredictable and with no worst case guarantee. A new automaton representation of regular expressions, called Tunable Finite Automaton (TFA), is described. TFAs resolve the DFAs' state explosion problem and the NFAs' unpredictable performance problem. Different from a DFA, which has only one active state, a TFA allows multiple concurrent active states. Thus, the total number of states required by the TFA to track the matching status is much smaller than that required by the DFA.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for prefetching music for devices. The disclosed method includes detecting an access to a music library through a device. The music library is associated with a user music account and is managed in cloud music storage. The disclose method further includes monitoring use activities for the user music account and the use activities of selected songs in the music library are adjustable for relevance based on assigned weightings. One or more songs from the music library that satisfy a prefetching constraint based on the monitored use activities are identified. The songs that satisfy the prefetching constraint are tagged for transferring to the device. The tagged songs are transferred to the device without receiving a user initiated request for the tagged songs.

Abstract: Method, apparatus, and a computer-readable storage device for determining similarities. A plurality of sets having social network service members as entities is constructed by associating each of the social network service members with each of a predetermined selection of professional outcomes by school of graduation of the member. One of the plurality of sets is selected. A similarity algorithm calculates the similarity score of at least some of the plurality of sets in the plurality of sets to the selected one of the plurality of sets, and presents for rendering the k sets in the plurality of sets with the highest similarity scores. The similarity algorithm used may be a cosine similarity algorithm using the sets as vectors.

Abstract: The embodiments may provide a system for managing survey data including a survey metadata handler configured to receive survey metadata for a survey type, and a survey result handler configured to receive one or more completed or partially completed surveys providing one or more answers to questions corresponding to the survey type, a calculating unit configured to calculate one or more weighted answers based on the question weights and the one or more answers, and a satisfaction score for each completed or partially completed survey based on the one or more weighted answers, a category determining unit configured to determine a satisfaction category for the survey type based on the satisfaction scores and satisfaction category information mapping satisfaction categories to satisfaction scores for the survey type, and a database configured to store the survey metadata, the survey results, and the satisfaction category information, as a layered data model.

Abstract: The overall architecture and details of a scalable video fingerprinting and identification system that is robust with respect to many classes of video distortions is described. In this system, a fingerprint for a piece of multimedia content is composed of a number of compact signatures, along with traversal hash signatures and associated metadata. Numerical descriptors are generated for features found in a multimedia clip, signatures are generated from these descriptors, and a reference signature database is constructed from these signatures. Query signatures are also generated for a query multimedia clip. These query signatures are searched against the reference database using a fast similarity search procedure, to produce a candidate list of matching signatures. This candidate list is further analyzed to find the most likely reference matches. Signature correlation is performed between the likely reference matches and the query clip to improve detection accuracy.

Abstract: Disclosed is a recipe recommendation system and method which builds and maintains user and recipe profiles, which matches user and recipe profiles to recommend recipes, which changes recommended recipes based on season and other factors, which adjusts user profiles based on explicit and implicit feedback, which integrates mobile computing and grocery delivery services, and which offers a complete service.

The computing device generates a digital fingerprint of a segment of the work, wherein the segment corresponds to the particular point in the work. Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods, systems, and computer program products for managing incident reports can include receiving alert messages from multiple tenants and aggregating the alert messages into a reduced, correlated incident reports. For example, the method includes receiving, from a number of tenants, alert reports that represent at least one system alert incident associated with the tenants. The alert reports can be collected and analyzed for duplicate reports. The analysis for duplicate reports can include identifying a number of duplicate alert reports and correlating each identified duplicate alert reports into a correlated incident report. The correlated incident report can be aggregated into a summarized incident report for processing.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided in order to compose audio signals for content in a multi-user environment that provide a high quality audio signal that best represents the content as captured and uploaded by the plurality of users. In the context of a method, audio and/or video content is captured and selected to be uploaded to be shared with other users. The method may analyze the audio signals for a set of uploaded content and determine segments of the analyzed signals that should be pruned. The method uses the signal pruning data to replace or enhance segments of one or more signals to generate a composed signal that is to be shared with other end users. A corresponding apparatus and a computer program product are also provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for automatically managing tagging of a resource. In one aspect, a first matched tag is identified that identifies a first tag and a first tagging criterion, wherein whether the first tagging criterion is met for a first resource is based on a first attribute of the first resource. A change to the first attribute is detected. Based on the change, whether the first tagging criterion is met for the first resource is determined. The first resource is tagged with the first tag, automatically in response to determining that the first criterion is met.

Abstract: Automatic rating optimization is described. In an embodiment, ratings of a program can be received from one or more rating sources. Based on these ratings, a representation of a content selection mechanism can be sent to potential consumers of the content. Access events for the content can be counted over a duration of time so a determination can be made regarding how the ratings provided by each of the rating sources affect popularity of the content. A weight accorded to ratings received from each of the rating sources can be adjusted based on the determination. Profiles can be established for consumers and/or rating sources.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for interacting with and/or processing metadata associated with digital content. In a typical embodiment, various architectures are provided that may comprise interfaces, applications, processors, etc. to allow for metadata to be processed and/or appended to related main data. The architectural components herein also provide for various ways for metadata to be gathered and/or stored (e.g., provided by a user). Among other things, these approaches optimize digital and/or social media exchanges.

Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for rating audiences of network-based content of multiple content publishers are described. Embodiments may include, for each of multiple users, receiving usage information specifying one or more attributes of the user's content consumption activity with respect to network-based content. The usage information received for at least some of the users may be associated with network-based content from multiple different content publishers (e.g., different websites that host content portals). Embodiments may also include determining a subset of the multiple users that share one or more characteristics (e.g., demographic characteristics). Embodiments may also include generating a report based on a portion of the received usage information that is specific to the subset of the multiple users. The report may specify one or more aggregate attributes of the subset's content consumption activity.

Abstract: A method of geotagging based on specified criteria is described. The method may include analyzing a data stream indicating a variable parameter associated with an object to determine data within the data stream satisfying a specified criteria. The method may also include obtaining geospatial information for the object or another object corresponding to a time the data was generated. Relevant data collected at the time the data satisfies the specified criteria may be tagged with the geospatial information. Related systems are also described.

Abstract: A method for generating a playlist may include automatically selecting a plurality of seed songs from a music library based on at least one selection criteria associated with song popularity. The at least one selection criteria may be selected (e.g., randomly) from a plurality of available selection criteria. One of the plurality of seed songs may be selected (e.g., randomly). A first playlist with a plurality of songs from the music library may be generated. The plurality of songs in the first playlist may be automatically selected to be similar to the selected one of the plurality of seed songs. The at least one selection criteria may include one or more of a highest song rating, frequency of song playback within a determined time period, recent song purchase, and social media posting by a user regarding a song from the music library.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to enrichment of a data warehouse utilizing a business compendium. Embodiments may employ a process comprising data standardization and cleansing, de-duplication of entries, and matching and enrichment, followed by manual review of an enriched record by a user. During standardization, data may be transformed into consistent content, placing correct data elements into appropriate fields, removing invalid characters, and/or standardizing names and addresses. Duplicate records are then detected and marked. During matching and enrichment, the existence of an entity (such as a supplier), may be verified by progressive matching against the business compendium. Enrichment may provide additional information regarding the entity (e.g. related to risk, diversity, and bankruptcy). The enriched record is available for manual review, allowing the user to change duplicates, matches, and parent/child linkages.

Abstract: Computerized systems distribute storage and analytical tasks between multiple storage devices and processors to analyze large amounts of automotive data. Reception of huge amounts of fine automotive data from large amounts of users and delivery of real-time and predictive analysis of the data can be handled across a distributed architecture. Configured storage devices can retain a universe of all reported/collected automotive data and advanced analytics can be performed on the data, before and after storage. The analyses can include real-time data extraction, batch-type complex predictive analysis, data management, machine learning on useful analytics, etc. The large and real-time data input may not interfere with analysis on the universe of accumulated data, permitting users and/or third-parties to readily access results of such analyses in real-time.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to generating feature values for selectable features using feature recombination. In one scenario, a computer system accesses a set of selectable features where each feature includes one or more feature values. The computer system encodes the accessed set of selectable features, so that the feature values are available for selection by various different users. The computer system generates a first population of feature values from the encoded set of selectable features and ranks each feature value in the first population of feature values based on which feature values are selected by the users. The computer system also generates a second population of feature values by recombining the feature values proportional to the ranking, and further generates subsequent populations of feature values by recombining the values across multiple iterations of expression of preference by different users. These feature values then converge on a subset of preferred feature values.

Abstract: A software tool is described in which a document authentication software engine is tightly integrated with software for creating and managing reference templates for identifying different types of security documents, such as passports and driver's licenses. Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein that facilitate cost-effective and reliable data identification in an archival data storage system. In an embodiment, a data object stored in an archival data storage system is identified by a data object identifier which encodes storage location information that may be used to locate a data object stored in an archival data storage system that reduces the cost to store a global index. The data object identifier may also encode policy information such as access control information usable for validating subsequent access to the data object, payload validation information such as size and digest usable for verifying the integrity of the payload data, metadata validation information such as error-detection codes usable for validating integrity of the data object identifier and other information.

Abstract: A recommender system for recommending items to a user based on geo-Tagged information related to him, in which items associated with a GeoTag are stored in a database. Feedback regarding the various items is obtained from the user and the provided rating of items is propagated to closely located items based on their associated GeoTags. A user-to-user similarity matrix is calculated and a predicted score is assigned for each user and item, using a recommendation server. All the items in the catalog of items are sorted according to their predicted scores as calculated for the user, and all items that have been already rated by the user are filtered out. Then, items from the catalog of items are presented to the user, according to their scores.

Abstract: Devices and methods for receiving sections of media content and receiving ranked content and caching sections of content are disclosed herein. Media content can be received by a device and filtered as a function of relevance to user interest. In an aspect, the device can receive sections of the content ranked based at least in part on popularity and respective sections of the media content can be cached based on the ranking. Abstract: A method for analyzing media assets such as video and audio files. The method includes providing access to all the frames of a digital media asset. The method includes, with a microprocessor, running a raw analyzer modules to analyze the asset frames to produce sets of raw analyzer result data that are stored in a data cache in a file associated with the asset. The sets of raw analyzer results are linked to the raw analyzer modules with unique identifiers. The digital media asset is played for the raw analyzer modules, which concurrently analyze the temporally-related frames. The raw analyzer results are stored as data tracks that include metadata for the asset such as immutable parameters including histograms. The method includes using a feature algorithm module to generate an analysis result, such as face identification, for the digital media asset based on the raw analyzer results accessed by the identifiers.

For each of the items and each time window, the process can adjust the rating of an item using multiple adjustments that are respectively associated with competing items in the list. Each of the adjustments may depend on the rating of the item, the rating of the competing item, and whether the measurement of performance of the item is higher than the measurement of the performance of the competing item.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for viewing a collaborative document and a portable document at a device in a network. The collaborative document is hosted on a server and accessible through a network. The device hosts a corresponding portable document. The document processing application allows viewing of the portable document and the collaborative document on the device, wherein the user may select the desired view. In one embodiment, each view is displayed as a tabbed window, and switching views is enabled by selection of a tab. When the device is disconnected from the network, the user may view and process the portable document.

Abstract: A system for assisting a subject to select a proper form of treatment. The system comprises: a monitoring section that remotely monitors a health status of the subject; an inference section that infers medical information about the subject based on information subject posted on social networks; a subject database that stores subject's information; and a symptom engine that stores symptoms of medical situations. The inference section applies the health status and the medical information against symptoms stored in the symptom engine to determine a proper form of treatment.

Abstract: An interoperability system abstracts the protocols used by multiple network applications into an interoperability framework, thereby allowing the network applications to interoperate with each other and/or with modules for providing enhanced functionalities. The interoperability framework includes a number of adapters that modularize the components needed for interoperation and abstracts content from the underlying protocols and procedures used by the network applications. The interoperability framework includes a resource control that enables the network applications to access shared resources, such as data and content used by the network applications, thus allowing the applications to interoperate and for functionality enhancements to be added.

Abstract: Generic media covers can be generated for digital media items submitted by publishers without a personalized media cover. A generic media cover can be generated for a media item by hashing a unique identifier of the media item that remains consistent throughout the life cycle of the media item. Bytes of the hashed value can be translated into graphic parameters which are used to generate the generic graphic. The graphic parameters can be attached to the generic graphic, thus allowing a user to regenerate the generic graphic at a desired resolution at a later point in time. Also disclosed are techniques for ensuring that generic media covers for a bundle of media items appear substantially similar.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a progressive player to allow for a user to subscribe to media content. The media content can be organized according to a media orchestration descriptor (MOD). The MOD identifies each segment (i.e. media element, media asset) of the media content and indicates relationships among the segments to define a presentation of the segments during playback of the media content. Immediately, in response to subscribing to the media content, the progressive player initiates playback of the media content in conjunction with downloading the media content to a buffer. Playback of the media content is controlled with respect to the playback time of the amount of buffered media content, where the buffered media content comprises media content in the buffer that has been downloaded but not yet played back.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprising receiving a user request. The method analyzes the data in a plurality of data sets to find inconsistent mappings. Data of data sets, such as columns formed by a join condition, are compared to determine matching or non-matching distinct characteristic values. A composite data set is generated based on the comparison. Another data set is compared with the composite data set, and the composite data set is enhanced. Each data set is compared in sequence, if the composite data set is not empty, until all data sets are analyzed. A result set is generated based on the matching or non-matching distinct characteristic values. The method may also determine if a join operates as a data filter. The operations that are used for analysis may include ‘count distinct’, ‘intersection’ and ‘Boolean operators’.

Abstract: Execution of instructions in a transactional environment is selectively controlled. A TRANSACTION BEGIN instruction initiates a transaction and includes controls that selectively indicate whether certain types of instructions are permitted to execute within the transaction. The controls include one or more of an allow access register modification control and an allow floating point operation control.

For example, a method in accordance with one embodiment comprises: receiving input data comprising a vector road network specifying vertices and edges; removing discontinuities in paths defined by the vertices and edges; chaining adjacent edges, the chain reducing the number of vertices and producing a set of paths; merging spatially proximal paths to create a set of merged paths; and determining a set of reduced paths from the set of merged paths.

The source code includes one or more static conditionals that include a conditional expression and branch code that is operative when the conditional expression is true. A first static conditional includes one or more nested static conditionals within the branch code associated with the first static conditional. Each of the one or more nested static conditionals is hoisted to a beginning of the branch code associated with the first static conditional. Each innermost branch code does not contain a static conditional and each possible configuration is preserved.

Abstract: According to a present invention embodiment, a system supplements structured information within a data system for entities based on unstructured data. The system analyzes a document with unstructured data and extracts attribute values from the unstructured data for one or more entities of the data system. Entity records with structured information are retrieved from the data system based on the extracted attribute values. Entity references for corresponding entities of the data system are constructed based on a comparison of the retrieved entity records and the extracted attribute values. The entity references are linked to the corresponding entities within the data system, wherein the entity references include extracted attributes from the unstructured data for corresponding linked entities.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for gifting a personalized album. A system is described that includes generating a personalized album from a request and subsequently gifting the personalized album to another party. The personalized album can include playback attributes stored in a file associated with the album or alternatively in metadata of the media items to be gifted. The playback attributes can limit playback of the album to a particular playback sequence or configure playback to reveal the names of media items as they are presented to the user. The personalized album can be accepted, rejected, or re-gifted by the recipient.
