Abstract: A method for matching a search request from a client device includes detecting the search request from the client device, storing content listings within a content database where each of the content listings represents content, and searching for a match result between the search request and the content listings. A subscription to a subscribed content provider is detected and associated with the client device. The match result is displayed to indicate the content listings associated with the subscribed content provider.

Abstract: A network device that comprises a memory which stores a plurality monitored parameters divided to a plurality of clusters and a plurality of flags each associated with another of the plurality of clusters and an agent which monitors changes in the plurality monitored parameters and updates at least some of the plurality of flags accordingly. The agent receives at least one query from a monitoring entity during a polling cycle and uses the plurality of flags to identify which of the plurality of clusters includes a changed monitored parameter from the plurality monitored parameters.

Abstract: According to an aspect of an embodiment, a method to effect setting recommendations at a communication device is described. The method may include receiving contextual data at the communication device. The contextual data may indicate conditions existing at application of a setting during use of an application at the communication device. The method may further include identifying a pattern based on the contextual data. The method may further include generating, based on the identified pattern, a setting recommendation to apply during use of the application at the communication device under conditions substantially matching the identified pattern. The method may further include presenting the setting recommendation to a user of the communication device and receiving data indicating a response to the setting recommendation.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a distributed network file system in a cloud network that provides performance guarantees in cloud storage that are independent of the accessed files and the access locations. A client's file system is provisioned using a file placement strategy that is based on client's access locations and determined maximum access bandwidths and does not require knowledge of file access patterns.

Abstract: One exemplary embodiment involves a computer-implemented method comprising receiving, in a computing device, a first request to attach a file in a cell of a collaborative spreadsheet, wherein the first request comprises the file and a cell identifier, and wherein the collaborative spreadsheet comprises a spreadsheet configured to be accessed and modified simultaneously from a plurality of client devices. The method additionally comprises attaching, via a processor, the file to the collaborative spreadsheet at the cell corresponding to the cell identifier; and storing the file on a cloud storage device, wherein the file is stored to be accessible in conjunction with the collaborative spreadsheet.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for autonomic caching in an IMDG has been provided. A method for autonomic caching in an IMDG includes receiving from a client of the IMDG a request for a primary query in the IMDG. The method also includes associating the primary query with a previously requested sub-query related to the primary query. Finally, the method includes directing the sub-query concurrently with a directing of the primary query without waiting to receive a request for the sub-query from the client. In this way, the method can proactively predict a receipt of the request for a sub-query following a request for a primary query prior the actual receipt of the request for the sub-query.

Abstract: Embodiment of the invention provide a reverse name lookup function for providing an absolute path name or file name and absolute path name to the file name parent directory based on a vnode reference, NFS file handle reference, or file identifier reference associated with a computer virtual file system. A method in accordance with the invention comprises populating a table structure with vnodes, names, and absolute path information associated with the vnodes. The table structure and information are sufficient to generate an absolute path name and file name for each vnode. The table structure also includes entries for file identifiers, names, and associated absolute path information associated with the file identifiers. This information is sufficient to generate an absolute path name for each file identifier. The table is populated by hooking virtual file system function calls including the vnode name lookup function and the vnode inactive function.

Abstract: A method for managing storage functions in a data replication environment is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes continually monitoring for changes to a storage configuration at a secondary site. Upon detecting changes to the storage configuration at the secondary site, the method transmits remote metadata describing the changes to the primary site and stores the remote metadata at the primary site. The method then initiates a storage management function at the primary site which is mirrored to the secondary site. In order to perform the storage management function, the method reads the remote metadata at the primary site to determine the storage configuration at the secondary site. The method then performs the storage management function at the primary site in a way that takes into account the storage configuration at the secondary site.

Abstract: A process for staging file assets on a live Web server is described that includes detecting an index page of the Web server, creating a staging folder on the Web server, wherein the staging folder does not default to a directory listing when accessed, inserting a randomized string into a name of file assets containing content to be staged, and storing the file assets in the staging folder. By creating the staging folder that does not default to a directory listing when accessed, a system is enabled where users may access the file assets while other users may not.

Abstract: Page feed for efficient dataflow between distributed query engines is disclosed. An example method comprises storing a query result relation by a producer query as pages in a query engine buffer pool, and then sending these pages to a distributed caching platform (DCP) as the data source of another query. The example method also includes reading the result relation by a consumer query from the page stored in the DCP.

Abstract: A system and method for identifying an author of a social media interaction. A social media profile may be received for a user interacting in a social media interaction in a social media environment. The social media profile may include identification parameter(s) defining personal information registered to the user in the social media environment and content parameter(s) defining content of the user's social media interaction. For each of a plurality of customers registered in a contact center environment, a contact center profile may be received for the customer including identification parameter(s) defining personal information registered to the customer in the contact center environment and content parameter(s) defining content of the customer's past contact center interactions. The user's social media profile and customer's contact center profile may be compared to determine if the social media user and contact center customer have the same identity.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for shared data sets in an on-line services environment. In one embodiment, a method includes, receiving a request for data stored in a shared database from a user, identifying the requesting user, retrieving the requested data from the shared database, determining whether there are user-specific changes for the retrieved data, changing the retrieved data using the user-specific changes, and supplying the requested data to the user.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an advantageous systems and related methods for scalable object storage. One embodiment relates to a system that includes at least a manifest tracking subsystem and a chunk payload subsystem. The manifest tracking subsystem stores version manifests and encodes forward-references from the version manifests to chunks. The chunk payload subsystem stores the chunks and encodes back-references to version manifests that reference the chunk. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system can search for data streams. A processor searches for a data stream device or provider on a network. It is determined if the data stream device or provider includes a stored stream index. The stream index is accessed as a reference stream index if the stream index is discovered. Data streams are searched for using the reference stream index.

Abstract: Systems and methods in which a ranking engine, for example such an engine as is communicatively coupled to a search engine or social networking system, or is part of such a system, ranks social offerings for eventual display to a user, said social offerings being ranked according to eigenvalues of matrices associated with a social graph G of the user and the user's friends and other connections. In some instances, the social offerings may be divided into categories and ranks for the social offerings computed for each of the categories based on activities and communications of the user with friends and other connections for each category. The eigenvalues are used for ranking the social offerings based on actions of the user's friends and other connections with respect to the social offerings.

Abstract: A network device compares unique identifiers between files of a 1st dataset and a 2nd dataset. Based on the comparison, the network device determines a first set of files that includes the files of the 1st dataset that are not elements of the 2nd dataset, determines a 2nd set of files that includes the files of the 2nd dataset that are not elements of the 1st dataset, and determines a 3rd set of files that includes the files that are contained in both the 1st dataset and the 2nd dataset. The network device synchronizes the 2nd dataset with the 1st dataset based on a comparison of a temporal indicator associated with each file in the 3rd set of files to identify files contained in both the 1st dataset and the 2nd dataset having a same unique identifier but a different temporal indicator.

Abstract: System and methods for identifying one or more out-of-network camera systems of interest and for enabling dynamic bidding for access to the one or more out-of-network camera systems are disclosed. In certain embodiments, identifying one or more out-of-network camera systems may include receiving a search query from a user, comparing search parameters included in the search query with information stored in a database and, based on the comparison, identify one or more camera systems satisfying the search query. In embodiments enabling bidding for access to one or more out-of-network camera systems, a bid management system may receive a plurality of bids for accessing one or more camera systems, determine at least one winning bid and corresponding winning bidder from the plurality of bids, and provide access to the one or more camera systems to the winning bidder.

Abstract: A method for providing recommended information relating to an account from a customer relationship management (CRM) system is disclosed. The method embodiment includes receiving by a server a message from a user system associated with a user including a request for information relating to a target account representing a customer, competitor and/or partner of an enterprise, and information identifying the target account. Based on the information identifying the target account, accessible records associated with the enterprise and relating to the target person are identified, and public social media content relating to the target account is collected from social networking entities. A comprehensive account profile associated with the target account is generated based on the accessible records and on the social media content, and at least a portion of the profile is included in a response message that is transmitted by the server to the user system.

A plurality of interests representing a plurality of subjects' affinities towards a plurality of topics may be obtained. A processing device may generate an interest graph based on the obtained interests. The generated interest graph may include: (i) at least two nodes, each of the at least two nodes representing an interest of the obtained interests, wherein the obtained interests are free of any personally identifiable information associated with the plurality of subjects and (ii) at least one link connecting a first node to a second node of the at least two nodes, the at least one link representing a relatedness of the interest represented by the first node to the interest represented by the second node.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, include sending a first rich internet application over a data network from a web server to a first client device and to a second client device. The web server is adapted to allow multiple client devices to collaboratively access one or more electronic documents formatted for any one of multiple different applications, including the first rich internet application. A first electronic document, which includes multiple document elements, is sent from the web server to the first client device and to the second client device. A document update received from the first client device includes identifications of one or more of the document elements and a requested action with respect to the one or more identified document elements.

Abstract: A method and system for building a point-in-time snapshot of an eventually-consistent data store. The data store includes key-value pairs stored on a plurality of storage nodes. In one embodiment, the data store is implemented as an Apache® Cassandra database running in the “cloud.” The data store includes a journaling mechanism that stores journals (i.e., inconsistent snapshots) of the data store on each node at various intervals. In Cassandra, these snapshots are sorted string tables that may be copied to a back-up storage location. A cluster of processing nodes may retrieve and resolve the inconsistent snapshots to generate a point-in-time snapshot of the data store corresponding to a lagging consistency point. In addition, the point-in-time snapshot may be updated as any new inconsistent snapshots are generated by the data store such that the lagging consistency point associated with the updated point-in-time snapshot is more recent.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for the enforcement of security profiles in a multi-tenant database. A multi-tenant database can be populated with data from different users or other entities. Different users may enjoy different sets of permissions to access, modify, store, and/or otherwise manipulate sets of data within the database. After authentication, a user's associated set of permissions are retrieved. When data is requested, matching tables or other objects located in the database are identified based on the user's query. Rather than retrieving matching tables or other objects directly, a meta data security engine can check the requesting user's permissions, and apply any filters or restrictions required by those permissions to the data present in the table(s). A substitution can be made of a table-valued function, including any filtered data entries, for the table itself. Flexible and granular data security rules can thereby be applied, transparently to the user.

Abstract: A mobile storage system is disclosed that in one aspect identifies a geographical location change of a user, such as movement from a first geographical location to a second geographical location. In response, the mobile storage system may move the user's information to a storage device associated with the second geographical location so that the user's information may be accessed by the user more efficiently.

Abstract: A method for providing information relevant to an enterprise from a customer relationship management (CRM) system is disclosed. The method embodiment includes receiving by a server a message including a request for information relevant to an enterprise from a requesting user system associated with a user, where the message also includes enterprise-specific information. The method also includes identifying by the server records related to the enterprise and managed by a CRM system based on the enterprise-specific information. A relevance score is determined for each of the identified records based on relevance factors, and recommended records are selected based on the relevance scores of the recommended records. Information identifying the recommended records is included in a response message that is transmitted by the server to the requesting user system.

Abstract: An information retrieval system having: a client adapted for accessing a plurality of file sets stored on one of a plurality of file servers; a plurality of file servers configured to operate with a federated file system namespace; and a memory for storing re-direction information accessible by the client for identifying a request issued by the client for a file set at a first location in the namespace where the file set is located at a second, different location on one of the file servers and wherein the client in examining the re-direction information in the memory, re-directs the request to the second location in accordance with the re-direction information.

The application includes a first documents tab that receives inputs from a first user to upload documents to the database for display in the first documents tab. The application has a second documents tab that receives inputs from a second user. The application generates a notification for delivery to the second user when the first user uploads a document to the database. The application can display the document in the second documents tab when the first user uploads the document to the database.

Abstract: In a computer implemented method, a credibility rating is requested and received, or web activity is tracked, from a web user on a web page. A search request is received from a searcher, and a plurality of links is selected, including a link to the web page to display as search results to the searcher. The link to the web page is then displayed within the search results in an order based, at least in part, on the credibility rating or web activity. Multiple credibility ratings or user web activities on that web page from other users can also be received and stored, and the order of display can be based on these as well. The order of display may be based more on credibility ratings or web activity tracked from web users affiliated with the searcher in a social network.

Abstract: Techniques to leverage replication to provide rolling point in time backup are described. Some embodiments are directed to techniques to provide rolling point in time backup with simplified restoration through distributed transactional re-creation. In one embodiment, for example, a technique may comprise creating a plurality of availability copies of a primary set of data; designating at least one of the plurality of availability copies as a backup copy; creating a log file that indicates changes to the primary set of data; updating the plurality of availability copies from the log file in near real time, without updating the backup copy; and restoring at least one of: the primary set of data and an availability copy using the backup copy and content resubmitted from a content contributor when an error occurs in at least one of: the primary set of data and an availability copy. Abstract: Synchronizing data between multiple endpoint data stores that have disparate schemas is accomplished in a manner that reduces complexity. Each endpoint data store has an associated local schema that orders data into one or more fields. A synchronization server is disposed between the endpoints and keeps the multiple endpoints synchronized without the endpoints having to understand the various local schemas. A virtual schema is generated based on a set-intersection of the local schemas. The virtual schema maps a field in one local schema to a field in another local schema. Data is synchronized between the endpoint data stores using the virtual schema.

Abstract: A method, system and computer readable medium for information handling within an operating system, including providing a record retrieval program; providing an input device within a window or screen of the operating system and configured to enter an execute command which initiates a record retrieval from local and remote information sources using the record retrieval program; using the record retrieval program to enter first information into search fields provided in the record retrieval program; entering the execute command using the input device after the step of entering the first information; searching, using the record retrieval program, the local and remote information sources for second information associated with the first information; and displaying the second information in the record retrieval program, when one of the local and remote information sources includes second information associated with the first information.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for synchronizing data using data identifying messages. These mechanisms and methods for synchronizing data using data identifying messages can enable embodiments to provide notification of a need to synchronize one instance of data with changes made to another instance of data, without necessarily communicating the changes to be made to the other instance of the data. The ability of embodiments to provide synchronization based on such a notification can allow more efficient data synchronization while ensuring that synchronizations are based on up-to-date information.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed for, within a note-taking application, selectively synchronizing different notebook components with a centralized server. In one particular embodiment, different notebook components are assigned different synchronization rates based on usage characteristics. The different notebook components are synchronized more or less frequently relative to each other based on the assigned synchronization rates.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and subsystems for identifying and accessing multimedia content are provided. One external library access module includes instructions, stored on computer readable media, that, when executed by a processor, perform steps for: accessing personal profile settings stored in computer readable media, the profile settings including personal settings relating to filtering content; accessing an external search engine used to identify content on a network, the engine having an adjustable content filter; and selecting a setting of the filter based on the personal settings. In another embodiment, a method for identifying and accessing multimedia content from a network includes: filtering content described in a first compilation of data in strict adherence to personal settings relating to filtering content; and using an external filter to filter content accessible from the network through an external search engine.

Abstract: A data block storage management capability is presented. A cloud file system management capability manages storage of data blocks of a file system across multiple cloud storage services (e.g., including determining, for each data block to be stored, a storage location and a storage duration for the data block). A cloud file system management capability manages movement of data blocks of a file system between storage volumes of cloud storage services. A cloud file system management capability provides a probabilistic eviction scheme for evicting data blocks from storage volumes of cloud storage services in advance of storage deadlines by which the data blocks are to be removed from the storage volumes. A cloud file system management capability enables dynamic adaptation of the storage volume sizes of the storage volumes of the cloud storage services.

Abstract: A technique for identifying overlapping clusters of items in a data set. The technique may be used in connection with a social network or other on-line environment in which users express approval for other users, such as through votes, tags or other inputs. These expressions of approval may be used to form clusters such that entities assigned to a cluster have a higher metric of approval from other entities within the cluster than from outside the cluster. Such clusters may be arrived at through a computationally efficient approach that involves randomly selecting one or more entities as a seed for a cluster. The to cluster may be grown by testing other entities, similar to those already in the cluster, to determine whether they are more preferred by those already in the cluster than those outside the cluster. Once a cluster is grown to a desired size, it may be pruned.

Abstract: A view object is generated in a target deployment unit in a design time environment of a metadata repository. The view object is modeled on a business object of a source deployment unit. The source deployment unit includes process components of a business application that is physically decoupled from the target deployment unit. A subset of attributes of the business object of the source deployment unit is selected. The subset of attributes includes at least an outbound agent and an inbound agent implemented by a generic messaging framework. The view object is modeled in the target deployment unit with the subset of attributes of the business object. The inbound agent of the view object is configured for receiving a replication message from the outbound agent of the business object, and the replication message includes replication data for configuring the view object only with data from the business object.

Abstract: Techniques for guided access to an external distributed file system (DFS) from a database management system (DBMS) are provided. A user access a graphical user interface (GUI) to interactively define a search on an external DFS. The search and any filtering conditions are processed on the external DFS and results are imported to the DBMS and mapped to a table in the DBMS for manipulation and access by the user within the DBMS.

Abstract: In one general aspect, a computer-implemented method for migrating data from a source database to a target database includes a computer-implemented method that includes executing, using at least one processor, instructions recorded on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. The method includes ensuring that the source database has correct version information, creating an image copy of the data in the source database, and collecting metadata describing the source database. The metadata may include information used to verify that the target database is compatible with the source database, to automatically translate object identifiers, and to avert the migration if no data has changed in the source and the target databases (e.g., table and index spaces) since a previous migration. The method may further include refreshing the data in the target database using the image copy after determining that the source database and the target database are compatible.

Abstract: Methods for leveraging a user's social network connections to search files stored on client devices are provided. Upon receipt of a search query, it is determined that the searching user is a social network connection of at least one user of a social networking application having files on their client device designated for sharing. Those designated files are searched to determine if any of them match the received search query. Client device files associated with users of the social networking application that have been designated for public sharing also are searched. Any files shared publicly or with social network connections of the sharing user that are stored on a client device and determined to match the received query may be presented to the searching user independent of the algorithmic search results or may be integrated into the algorithmic search results, as desired.

Abstract: In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for ensuring a source database (e.g., target space or index space) has correct version information before a migration includes executing, using at least one processor, instructions recorded on a computer-readable storage medium. The instructions include determining whether a table has been changed since a most recent alter of the table, performing an update on the table when it is determined that the table has not been changed since the most recent alter, and performing a rollback on the table after the update. The method may also include creating an image copy of the data in the source database and refreshing data in a target database with the image copy of the data in the source database. The method may also include automatically repairing the target database when the version information of the target does not correspond with the version information for the source.

Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium, and apparatus for analyzing a database includes obtaining SQL code defining one or more databases, each including a plurality of objects, wherein the SQL code is stored on one or more database servers. Defects in the SQL code are identified by applying a plurality of rules to the SQL code. Information regarding each identified defect is stored. The information regarding each identified defect is selectively provided to one or more defect closing interface modules.

Abstract: This document describes, in various implementations, segmenting data of a database cluster into a plurality of segments, the data including a plurality of tuples, each segment including at least one of the tuples, and distributing the plurality of segments among nodes of the database cluster. Rebalancing of the data of the database cluster may be achieved by copying at least one of the plurality of segments from a source node of the database cluster to a destination node of the database cluster.

Abstract: One or more devices within a transaction services hub receive, from a first network device, provisioning information for customers of a transaction services network. The one or more devices also receive, from a second network device, first session data for transaction services using an Internet Protocol (IP) network, and receive, from a third network device, second session data for transaction services using a voice network. The one or more devices load, in a database, the provisioning information, the first session data, and the second session data, and merge, based on the provisioning information, the first session data and the second session data. The merged data is retrieved to support request from administrators and customers via other components of the transaction services hub.

Abstract: A system for managing risk in employee travel may track a location of users of the travel risk management system during travel. Travel itinerary information for a user may be input into the travel risk management system, including user identification information, travel date information and geographic location information for travel destinations. During the travel period, the system may communicate with a portable computing device to determine the user's actual location, and update the stored travel itinerary information if the user's actual location is different than the user's expected location. The system may transmit a location request message to the user's portable computing device, or a mobile application may cause the portable computing device to transmit the user's location without prompting.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to optimizing searchable resources and to returning relevant search results. In one scenario, a computer system monitors multiple different social media sites to observe conversations related to the searchable resources. The computer system identifies terminology related to the searchable resources from any one or more of the observed conversations. The identified terminology identified may be based on topic, author, and/or place. The computer system then accesses known terminology used to search for the searchable resources and correlates a relationship between the known terminology and the identified terminology. The computer system also modifies the searchable resources to be responsive to a search request that is expressed using the identified terminology.

Abstract: A social networking system provides a personalized set of bookmarks to a user based on the user's interactions with the bookmarks and/or the items associated with the bookmarks. The personalized set of bookmarks is grouped by category, and the categories are ordered in accordance with rankings for the categories. The rankings for the categories are determined based on the highest ranked item from each category of item, and the ranking of the items is determined based on the user's interactions with the bookmarks and/or associated items.
