  • Patent number: 8717871
Abstract: A lower layer retransmission control unit performs the following processing. When transmitting a transmission packet, giving a sequence number indicating a transmission order to the transmission packet. Receiving, from a receiving device that receives the transmission packet as a reception packet, an ACK packet indicating the sequence number of the reception packet. Referring to the sequence number of the received ACK packet to determine whether or not the ACK packet is received in an order of the sequence number. Transmitting first to third transmission packets and, if receiving a first ACK packet and receiving a third ACK packet following the first ACK packet without receiving a second ACK packet, performing fast retransmission control processing. Specifically, determining whether or not to receive the second ACK packet before a fast retransmission determination period passes after a reception time of the third ACK packet.

Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a compact control signaling scheme includes signaling a selected retransmission mode and codeword identifier for a codeword retransmission when one of a plurality of codewords being transmitted over two codeword pipes to a receiver fails the transmission and when the transmitter switches from a higher order channel rank to a lower order channel rank, either by including one or more additional signaling bits in the control signal to identify the retransmitted codeword, or by re-using existing control signal information in a way that can be recognized by the receiver to identify the retransmitted codeword. With the compact control signal, the receiver is able to determine which codeword is being retransmitted and to determine the corresponding time-frequency resource allocation for the retransmitted codeword.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a repeater node in a shared media network may intercept a shared media transmission from a first node to a second node. Once a shared media transmission is intercepted, the repeater node may determine whether the second node returns an acknowledgement (ACK) to the first node. If the second node does not return an ACK to the first node, the repeater node repeats the shared media transmission to the second node. Also, according to one or more additional embodiments of the disclosure, when receiving an ACK at the repeater node from the second node in response to the repeated shared media transmission, the repeater node may also forward the ACK from the second node to the first node.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for assigning a hybrid-automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to support enhanced uplink (EU) data transmission. Configuration parameters for enhanced uplink (EU) operation are received. The configuration parameters include a priority associated with a medium access control for dedicated channel (MAC-d) flow and a maximum number of H-ARQ transmissions associated with the MAC-d flow. Data is selected for transmission over an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) based on a priority of the MAC-d flow, wherein data with the highest priority is selected. On a condition that the selected data is new data that was not previously transmitted, an available H-ARQ process is assigned for supporting transmission of the selected data, and the selected data is transmitted over the E-DCH using the assigned H-ARQ process.

Abstract: Disclosed are a retransmission method, a base station, and a user device in a multicast system. In order to reduce uplink signaling resource, a new MNI (Multiple NACK Indicator) message is added to an uplink common feedback channel in an existing E-MBMS system. The MNI message enables decision of an XOR retransmission group which satisfies the XOR retransmission condition. As compared to a conventional XOR retransmission, the number of uplink signalings does not depend on the number of receivers. That is, when a plenty of receptions are present, it is possible to significantly reduce uplink signalings.

Abstract: In a case where the F-RTO algorithm is simply combined with the exponential backoff algorithm which is being suppressed, there is a problem in that once a spurious timeout occurs, the spurious timeout continuously occurs since then. In order to solve the above problem, according to the present invention, in a communication device for transmitting data segments and receiving acknowledgements in response to the data segments, respectively and sequentially, suppressing an application of a backoff algorithm for increasing a retransmission timeout period at the time of retransmitting a data segment, and controlling the retransmission timeout period to retransmit the data segment, the spurious timeout is determined based upon the acknowledgement received immediately after the retransmission of the data segment. In an event of determining the occurrence of the spurious timeout, the retransmission timeout is increased.

Abstract: A method of transmitting data using HARQ includes transmitting a first block, a partial bit stream of a codeword, and transmitting a second block, a bit stream starting from a bit index next to the last bit index of the first block, according to a retransmission request with respect to the codeword, wherein a different modulation scheme from that of the first block is applied to the second block. A coding gain of an incremental redundancy (IR) mode can be obtained although the amount of retransmission data is arbitrarily changed according to a change in transmission attributes such as a modulation scheme, resource allocation, the size of a transport block, or the like, in the adaptive HARQ scheme, so the transmission efficiency of a system can be enhanced.
