Abstract: A method is provided for decoding data packets in wireless communication schemes that use a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request technique, and a receiver for wireless communication that performs such a method. The HARQ memory incorporated in a receiver for wireless communication is minimized to a size which only reserves memory for an average number of erroneous sub-packets. Following decoding, an error check is performed on a per sub-packet basis, and only the softbits of those sub-packets for which decoding errors have been detected are stored in the HARQ memory. Correctly decoded sub-packets are stored in a separate memory. This significantly decreases the size of the HARQ memory required at the receiver which is beneficial in terms of both silicon area and power consumption.

Abstract: The invention provides an error detection method for data transmission in a transmission system with a first device, a second device and a data line. The method comprises the following steps. Firstly, a clock signal is sent to synchronize the first and second devices. Secondly, at least one serial data is sent from the first device to the second device in response to the clock signal. After sending the serial data, the first device sends an acknowledgement signal to the second device. After sending the acknowledgement signal, the first device reads the data line to obtain a reading value and determines whether the serial data is correct according to the reading value and a default value of the data line.

Abstract: An encoder receives an input bit stream and generates, based on the input bit stream, a first output bit stream based on at least a first polynomial and a second output bit stream based on at least a second polynomial. The first and second polynomials are each different from each other. The encoder forms a first packet of code symbols, having a first code rate, based on bits from the first output bit stream. A transmitter transmits the first packet. A receiver receives a first negative acknowledgment indicating unsuccessful decoding of the first packet after transmitting of the first packet. The encoder punctures bits from the second output bit stream and forms a second packet of code symbols having a second code rate. The second code rate is different from the first code rate. The transmitter transmits the second packet in response to the receiver receiving the first negative acknowledgment.

Abstract: A first loss determination section 13 of a first communication device 10 determines that a data unit is lost if an acknowledgment response for the transmitted data unit from a second communication device 30 is not received within a predetermined time and retransmits the data unit when the determination is made. When a determination section 16 determines that a spurious timeout has occurred, a window control section 17 sets a target value for decreasing the size of a congestion window and then gradually decreases the size of the congestion window to the target value when the acknowledgment response is received. Therefore, in a case of executing a response algorithm for changing a slow start threshold and the congestion window, if a segment loss occurs subsequent to the spurious timeout, an efficient loss recovery is achieved and the throughput is improved.

  • Patent number: 8370698
Abstract: Provided are an interleaving apparatus for improving transmission performance and an interleaving method used by the interleaving apparatus. The interleaving apparatus determines the type of data at each element position of an interleaving matrix, reads encoded data, which corresponds to the determined type of data at each element position, from an encoder, rearranges the read data in an order determined by the interleaving matrix, and outputs the rearranged data. Since the interleaving apparatus does not include a memory, it can prevent delay in signal processing, thereby improving transmission performance.

Abstract: Methods of transmitting data using a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process channels sequentially is disclosed. One of the methods of transmitting data through a plurality of HARQ process channels including a first channel and a second channel includes adding offset to a retransmission data block if the first channel which will transmit the retransmission data block is prescheduled (S702) by another data block, the offset representing the difference in a transmission timing point between the second channel in which positive acknowledgement (ACK) signal has been received (S701) and the first channel; transmitting the retransmission data block through the second channel; and transmitting a data block corresponding to the second channel through the first channel.

  • Patent number: 8359513
Abstract: In an embodiment, a source device encodes source information corresponding to a frame, assembles an initial data frame that includes the encoded data blocks, and transmits the initial data frame to a destination device. The destination device decodes the encoded data blocks and assembles a restored version of the initial data frame. The destination device identifies corrupted data blocks and uncorrupted data blocks within the restored version, stores the uncorrupted data blocks, generates a message that identifies the corrupted data blocks, and transmits the message to the source device. In response, the source device encodes source information corresponding to the corrupted data blocks identified in the message, assembles a responsive data frame, and transmits the responsive data frame to the destination device. The destination device produces a corrected data frame from the retransmitted data blocks and the previously-stored uncorrupted data blocks.

  • Patent number: 8351538
Abstract: It is possible to improve the CQI reception performance even when a delay is caused in a propagation path, a transmission timing error is caused, or a residual interference is generated between cyclic shift amounts of different ZC sequences. For the second symbol and the sixth symbol of the ACK/NACK signal which are multiplexed by RS of CQI, (+, +) or (?, ?) is applied to a partial sequence of the Walsh sequence. For RS of CQI transmitted from a mobile station, + is added as an RS phase of the second symbol and ? is added as an RS phase of the sixth symbol. A base station (100) receives multiplexed signals of ACK/NACK signals and CQI signals transmitted from a plurality of mobile stations. An RS synthesis unit (119) performs synthesis by aligning the RS phase of CQI.
