Abstract: In a memory diagnostic method, a fixed domain stores data that are not changed during process execution. A variable domain stores data that are subject to writing during process execution. A fixed domain diagnostic part adds an error-detecting code to data to be stored in the fixed domain. The fixed domain diagnostic part compares an error-detecting code calculated from data read from the fixed domain with the added error-detecting code to determine whether there is any data error. A variable domain diagnostic part temporarily stores data stored in the variable domain in a memory region different from the memory storing the data, and writes known data in the variable domain where the temporarily stored data were stored. The variable domain diagnostic part reads data from the region where the known data were written and determines whether the data is the same as the written known data.

A simple set of rules defined manually by human experts is used to generate artificial training feature vectors to portray machine fault conditions for which only a few real data points are available. Those artificial training feature vectors are combined with real training feature vectors and the combined set is used to train a supervised pattern recognition algorithm such as support vector machines. Abstract: Systems and methods for competitively scoring a stimulus-response test are disclosed. Competitive scoring may be based upon: i) a combination of response time and response type (e.g., false start, coincident false start, fast, slow, lapse, timeout, etc.); ii) response time and response latency correction data (e.g., a latency correction parameter corresponding to the test-taker's test system); and iii) a composite score metric comprising any function, rule of categorization, classification system, scoring system and/or the like that can be applied to at least two stimulus-response rounds of one or more test takers to determine a score for each test-taker.

Abstract: Aspects relate to a cognitive agent that performs functions associated with a desired result. The functions performed by cognitive agent supplement other activities performed at a same time. In such a manner, the cognitive agent can function as a surrogate for a user. A performed activity can trigger implementation of another activity that is an extension of the performed activity. Cognitive agent can perform functions that can be represented as an avatar. Further, cognitive agent can be associated with a diagnostics component that evaluates an operating condition. Based on the operating condition cognitive agent can implement automatic actions associated with mitigating failures and/or prolonging the life of machinery.

The serial communications device also comprises a signal controller configured to encode the digital diagnostic data onto a serial data signal for transmission via the serial cable by adjusting signal levels of the serial data signal while preserving original data in the serial data signal. Encoding the digital diagnostic data includes serializing the digital diagnostic data, determining a series of signal levels for the serialized digital diagnostic data based on a signal encoding map, and adjusting signal levels for the serial data signal based on the determined series of signal levels.

Abstract: A system and method for a software override capability for enforcing a predetermined state for an otherwise hardware-programmable device. Software that may think it knows what it is doing may try to control a hardware device, but may not know about a hardware issue, such as another feature or defect requiring that the device stay in a certain state. The technique programmatically maintains a persistent hardware state independent of any other control software. To other software, the software layer of the invention is indistinguishable and inseparable from hardware. Nothing can slip in between. Any insertion attempt will be detected and disallowed. Features of the processor or system chips actually weld the software to the hardware, which feature disallows any software intervention between the welded software layer and the hardware.

Abstract: A remote data memory access method for use in a computer system having a plurality of nodes, each node using a respective memory and remote data memory access between nodes being performed by transferring user data from the memory used by one node to the memory used by another node, the method comprising: maintaining memory correctness information of the user data at a subunit level; selecting subunits of user data for transfer in dependence upon memory correctness information of each subunit; and selectively transferring the subunits so selected. The method preferably involves transferring the memory correctness information of at least the selected subunits of user data, in addition to the selected subunits of user data. The memory correctness information may be compressed prior to transfer.

Abstract: In a data processing apparatus, when an instruction for starting validation is provided, or when definition information is updated, data input from a data source is collected, and a process for narrowing down of the collected data is executed. In the data narrowing process, by extracting records and items as process targets according to the definition information that defines the operation of the apparatus, the number of data items used for validation is reduced. Then, the operation is validated using the narrowed data. In the operation validation process, a virtual transfer destination of output of data is provided within the apparatus, and the data is output to the virtual transfer destination, for comparison with the output data, whereby the validation of the operation is performed.

At least two of the processing elements include a debug trap unit that has a first debug enable input and output, and a first debug thread. The first debug thread holds at least a first debug trap circuit having a match signal output connected to the first debug enable output. The first debug trap circuit filters a part of the data unit, compares a filtering result with a debug value, and provides a match signal to the match signal output. The debug trace dump logic unit dumps debug trace data to a buffer associated with the data unit on reception of a match event.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to the automated testing of a system that includes software or hardware components. In some embodiments, a testing framework generates a set of test cases for a system under test using a grammar. Each test case may perform an action, such as provide an input to the system under test, and result in an output from the system under test. The inputs and outputs are then compared to the expected results to determine whether the system under test is performing correctly. The data can then be interpreted in the grammar system or used as input to a fault isolation engine to determine anomalies in the system under test. Based on identified faults, one or more mitigation techniques may be implemented in an automated fashion.
