Abstract: A data processing system invokes presentation of a presentation element of a distributed presentation by a plurality of devices. The data processing system receives progress reports from the plurality of devices, where the progress reports indicate progress in presenting the presentation element. The data processing system determines whether a quorum threshold of presentation progress has been achieved based upon the progress reports. In response to determining that the quorum threshold of presentation of presentation progress has been achieved, the data processing system presents an indication that a spoken presentation associated with the presentation element can commence. The notification is presented prior to completion of presentation of the presentation element by at least one of the plurality of devices.

Abstract: A handheld communication device is used to capture a video and stabilize the video during a video chat session. The device has a camera to capture a video during a video chat session that is conducted between a user of the device and a far-end user. The video includes images frames, each of the image frames containing an image of a face of the user. The device detects the position of the face in each image frame. Based on the detected position of the face, a boundary area of each image frame is cropped to produce an output video while the video is being captured. The image of the face stays substantially stationary in the output video. The output video is transmitted to the far-end user during the video chat session. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A panel switch device for use in a load control system, which includes the panel switch device serving to monitor a pressing operation of icons of loads having individual addresses allocated thereto and output to a signal line a transmission signal including operation information and address information obtained by the pressing operation of the icons of the loads, the control device serving to control each of the loads corresponding to the address information if the address information coincides with the address of each of the loads. The panel switch device includes a frame, a touch panel display unit for displaying setting items of the loads to be controlled and an output unit provided on a rear surface side of the display unit for outputting a setting content inputted through the display unit. The control device controls the loads based on the setting content outputted from the output unit.

Abstract: The display of gesture movies is disclosed to assist users in performing gestures. Gesture movies can be short, unintrusive, and available on demand. A list box can appear in a pop-up window or preference panel, containing a list of gestures that can be displayed. If a user clicks on a gesture in the list, a video, movie or animation of the gesture being performed appears in one box, and a video, movie or animation of the action being performed on a particular object is displayed in another box. Thus, a hand can be shown performing the selected gesture over a touch sensor panel, while at the same time, and synchronized with the gesture being displayed, an object being manipulated by the gesture is displayed.

Abstract: Media timeline interaction may be provided. An electronic presentation may comprise a media object. A user may select the media object within a presentation application and use an on-object user interface in conjunction with the application's user interface to modify the media object. The user may also display the modified media object within the presentation application.

Abstract: An imaging service creates a visual presentation. The imaging service accesses images of a location, arranges them such that they create a desired visual effect when displayed, and combines them in a visual presentation. The imaging service may employ a client/server system, in which case images and information are uploaded from a client, and the visual presentation is downloaded to the client. The imaging service may also receive compensation from a computer user for using the imaging service.

Abstract: A screen sharing presentation system includes a presenter client system that leads a presentation and listener client systems that follow the presentation. A server facilitates communication between the presenter client system and the listener client systems. Users of the client systems may provide annotation information for the presentation. The annotation data is not visible to other users of other client systems, but is displayed on the respective user's personal views of the presentation. The presenter client system and the listener client systems are synchronized by communicating a current document location or other status indications.

Abstract: An audience platform is disclosed. In a first example case, a first question is received. A preference event associated with the first question is received. A score is determined for the first question based at least in part on the preference. In a second example case, indications of a first and second potential interviewee are received. Preference events associated with the first and second potential interviewees are received. Scores are determined for the first and second potential interviewees based at least in part on the received preference events. A designated interviewee is selected based on the first and second scores. In a third example case, indications of a first and second potential awardee are received. The program memory stores instructions to execute the steps of: receiving a digital media asset; displaying the received digital media asset on the display screen; determining an asset classification for the displayed digital media asset; selecting a set of classified feedback message choices responsive to the determined asset classification; displaying the selected set of feedback message choices, receiving input from the user to select a particular feedback message choice; and providing an indication of the selected feedback message to the individual who provided the displayed digital media asset.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating annotation of information. Techniques are provided that enable one or more users to annotate video information being displayed by an output device. Different annotation modes may be provided. For example, in one mode, a device is provided that can capture a video frame from video information being output by an output device. One or more users may then annotate the captured video frame. The annotations may be communicated to the output device such that the output displays the captured video frame along with annotations made to the video frame. Other annotation modes are also provided.

Abstract: A method for independently supporting at least two display mechanisms in a handheld electronic device and a handheld electronic device implementing the method includes a primary display window, a secondary display window and a display manager coupled to the primary and secondary display windows. According to the present invention, the display manager allows the primary display window to display a first set of objects and allows the secondary display window to display a second set of objects independently, whereby the first set and second set of objects include at least one common object.

Abstract: A new user interface, a distance user interface, in a computer system for operating a computer from a television-viewing distance is provided. A centralized display is provided enabling a user to access streaming video and sound as well as music files, video files, and picture files from a single screen. Collaborative sharing of media content is provided by enabling a computer's operations and feedback to be collectively observed from a distance.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for targeting content to audiences. The audience is defined by rules that may be based on properties as well as organizational structure associated with the users. Each of the rules is compiled to determine the group of members belonging to the rule. Logical operators are then applied to the groups to determine the audience membership. Compiling the rules enhances performance as the rules do not have to be run each time. Instead, a simple check against the rules results is performed. The rules making up the audience may be compiled at predetermined times in order to keep the audience up-to-date. Audiences are then selected and tagged to content so that the content may be viewed by the selected audiences.

Abstract: An interactive computer supported display system for managing the time allocation of presentation segments, such as individual slides. The presentation segments are each preassigned a presentation time duration and a warning time threshold for signaling the approach to the end of the preassigned time duration of each presentation segment. The actual presentation time used during presentation of each segment is compared to the preassigned time duration and warning threshold to issue warnings to the presenter and to carry forward any surplus or deficit time due to underrun or overrun of the preassigned time. The time surplus or deficit carried forward may be allocated by adding to or subtracting from the preassigned presentation times of subsequent presentation segments based upon a preassigned priority level assigned to each presentation segment.

Abstract: Presentation data related to presentation of information at an electronic device is provided, where the presentation data includes an indicator of a zoom level at which the information was presented. An effectiveness measure relating to an analysis of the presentation data can be derived to indicate an effectiveness of the presented information.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a presentation to a display client. In one illustrative embodiment, the display client can be an IP phone. The presentation can be provided over a network from a central location without requiring end user action at the IP phone. The presentation can be modified for optimal display based on the capabilities of the specific IP phone without affecting the quality of the presentation for other device types. The devices capable of viewing the presentation can include desk display telephones, cellular telephones, smart phones, portable computers, PCs, and possibly other appropriate network-enabled devices. Centrally controlled presentations can be pushed to an individual device, group of devices, and/or all devices site-wide. In some applications, the display client can be used to provide user selections in response to the provided presentation.

Courses are prepared and presented with help from multimedia tools that present different aspects of the instructional materials. The system and the method complement instructor-led lessons by emphasis on information delivery according to the process of attention to and retention of information by the brain. The information delivery system and method provides for multiple display screens and speakers receiving instructional information based on data that is manipulated according to a set of rules in a multimedia environment. The system allows real time feedback by instructor's input, control and override so that the lesson is flexible and responsive to the classroom if changes in the learning environment occur.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software applications for managing slide presentation content are described in the present disclosure. According to one embodiment, among many, a computer readable medium is configured to store instructions that are executable by a processing device. The computer readable medium comprises logic adapted to disassemble a plurality of slide presentations into a plurality of individual files, wherein each individual file corresponds to a single slide of a respective slide presentation. The computer readable medium also includes logic adapted to extract information from each slide and logic adapted to compare the extracted information from each slide and consolidate groups of slides that are substantially similar.

Abstract: Media sets may be presented as a media presentation (e.g., a slideshow or a thumbnail set), but many such presentations exhaust the attention of a user, particularly for large media sets. Instead, ratings may be identified that represents the relevance or interest of respective media objects of the media set to the user. These ratings may be identified explicitly by the user or automatically detected (e.g., by assessing image quality or monitoring user interactions with respective media objects). A zoomable media presentation of the media set may first present only media objects having a high rating, and upon zooming in near a media object, may insert, near the zoomed media object, one or more media objects associated with the zoomed media object and having a lower rating. This presentation therefore hierarchically organizes the media set, and utilizes zoom operations as a “drill-down” metaphor within the hierarchy of the media set.

Abstract: Presentation content is embedded within a Web page utilizing a presentation Web Part. The presentation Web Part is configured to create a Web element, such as an inline frame (“iFrame”) within which the presentation content can be displayed. The presentation Web Part is configured with an outer application programming interface (“API”) that functions as a message wrapper, such as a postMessage wrapper, for an inner API to call functions of a presentation Web application to manipulate the presentation content such as by advancing through various slides of the presentation content. For example, the presentation Web Part and a map Web Part may be displayed on the same Web page such that when a user selects a city or other location via the map Web Part, the presentation Web Part displays presentation content associated with the selected location. Other use cases are provided herein.

Abstract: A method and system for remote control of a presenter's computer screen using only web browsers is described. Viewers are able to view representation of a presenter's screen on a screen of the viewer's device and remotely control the presenter's screen directly from a web browser, without any downloads, plugins, or dialog boxes. Viewer control events are captured by the browser, sent to a server, and transmitted to the presenter's computer. A program running on the presenter's computer executes the control events, updates the presenter's screen, and transmits images of the updated screen back to the viewers.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a multifaceted tool (e.g., graphical representation/object) for searching and displaying data (e.g., search results). Specifically, aspects of the present invention build on “seed” terms to find and display related words, presenting them in a graduated manner by closeness to the seed. The tool allows a user to select variable weights which indicate the desired degree of closeness to the seed word/idea, or it may be randomly generated. Additionally, this tool may be used to create brainstorm teams with a desired level of variance from a target subject. In a typical embodiment, the a search or seed term and corresponding results are displayed in a hub and spoke-like graphical representation whereby the seed term is positioned in a center window of the graphic, and results are displayed in branches that extend radially from the center. Each branch can correspond to a different information source from which the corresponding results were obtained.

Abstract: A method, system, and program are provided for dynamically mapping chat session invitation history. A chat controller for facilitating a chat session enables chat participants to invite additional users to join in the chat session. The chat controller dynamically generates a mapping of the chat participants to graphically represent a separate correspondence between each invited additional user and each inviting chat participant. The mapping is displayed within a user interface of a current participant or an invited additional user. Further, the displayed mapping is dynamically updated to reflect additional invitation history as the chat session continues.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for representing and configuring flexible and extensible presentation patterns based on fine-grained architectural building blocks (ABBs). The techniques include defining ABBs, modeling the ABBs in a uniform manner, and creating at least one template using the ABBs, wherein the at least one template includes at least one of pre-configured static characteristics and user-specified service characteristics. In an embodiment of the invention, an exemplary method for designing and managing fine-grained ABBs can include identifying ABBs to compose an architecture for facilitating presentation and interaction between consumers and other elements in a solution, analyzing the ABBs to monitor computing resources used by individual ABBs, selecting a number of running instances of the ABBs based on (i) requests of a pertinent entity and (ii) available resources, and managing life-cycles of ABBs.

Abstract: A feature of a computing device application may be selected by user or other input and then demonstrated using a demonstration application. The demonstration application may select simulated user inputs from a script or other source that, when input to the computing device application, drive it to demonstrate the selected feature. The demonstration application may then begin to input the one or more simulated user inputs to the computing device application. Before all of the simulated user inputs have been input, the demonstration application may determine that the user has interrupted the demonstration. In response to the determination, the demonstration application may cease inputting the simulated inputs, leaving the computing device application in the state it was in at the time of interruption, thereby enabling the user to explore the application or feature of the application being demonstrated at a time and in a manner of the user's choosing.

Abstract: Particular embodiments generally relate to randomly displaying images on a display device. In one embodiment, a list of images for display on a display device, such as a digital picture frame or television, is determined. The display device is configured to display different images in a sequential order (such as one after another). A random display method may be determined. An image in the list of images is then randomly selected based on the random display method. For example, images are randomly selected such that all images in a list of images are displayed once without duplicative display of an image.

Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting search results based on relevancy in an interactive media guidance application are disclosed. After performing a user-initiated or automatic search for media content, the interactive media guidance application determines which of the hits are most relevant to the user. The guidance application then displays, or visually identifies, the relevant items. Some embodiments employ using different display arrangements based on the number of relevant items. Some embodiments display the relevant items in recommendation lists or hot lists.

Abstract: Method of providing and presenting content to a user is disclosed. A user may provide inputs such as categories, topics, key words; inputs as to quantity, quality, emphasis and/or inclusion; inputs as to order of presentation, geography or temporal characteristics. These inputs are used to create a presentation format. This format is populated with content using a systemic program and algorithms. The content comes from various sources. The sources are selected by a secondary party that is not the user. A user may interact with the presentation by skipping, saving, rewinding, indicating like or dislike or requesting more related content. User interactivity is recorded by the systemic program. The systemic program records what content has been presented to a specific user so that a subsequent presentation does not repeat content. One result of this method is a personalized news and information radio station.

Abstract: Automatic annotation of recorded lectures includes the annotation of recorded presentations as presented on a computer screen during a presentation. Such annotation is accomplished with metadata that indicates the original slide and the time in the presentation that the slide was presented. Registration of the presentation tags the presentation with this metadata, which uniquely identifies the presentation and each slide. The metadata enables future searching of the recorded presentation for the annotation, such that segments of recorded presentations in which the slide was presented can be recalled. The searching function can also be used in an integrated system with other applications to enable recall of segments of relevant recorded presentations.

Abstract: Visualizing and exploring a music library using metadata, such as genre, sub-genre, artist, and year, is provided. Geometric shapes, such as disks or rectangles, may be divided into sectors representing genre and each sector may be further divided into sub-sectors representing artists associated with each genre. The sector's relative size generally reflects the importance of the corresponding genre within the library. Likewise, the sub-sector's relative size generally reflects the importance of the corresponding artist within the genre which may be determined by the number of media items of the artist. Marks representing each media item may be arranged and displayed within the geometric shape to reflect the mark's corresponding genre, artist, and year. In addition, each mark may reflect an attribute, such as playcount, of the media item and each sector may reflect the mean value of an attribute of all media items within the sector.

Abstract: Computer method and system provides context in an online meeting, a web conference or other shared slides application. A person (attendee or participant) asking a question does so in the specific section (slide) of the shared application. Screen images of these specific slides are captured and coupled to respective questions. The questions are queued for the presenter. Captured screen images provide context for the questions. Each question selected from the queue by the presenter automatically provides context without interrupting flow of the presentation and online meeting.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that allow a user to mix multiple sources of multimedia content from the Web, such as social network accounts, RSS feeds, and other sources of multi-media content. Each of the sources of content, independent of the format and content, is transformed into a homogeneous content container called a frame, and the frames are organized into a cycling chain of content referred to as a stream. The streams are displayed in real-time on a client device as customized multi-media streams. Users can share frames and/or streams with other users.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method that presents a preview of a set of images in a graphical user interface (GUI) of a device. To generate the preview, the method initially selects a subset of images that includes several images in the set but not all the images in the set. After selecting the subset of images, the method concurrently displays the images in the selected subset as the preview of the set of images.

Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method, system, or program that automatically associates background music with an image slideshow. The embodiment can receive a selected image collection, extract metadata from the image collection, and associate audio files with the image collection based on the metadata. The embodiment will then prompt concurrent playing of the audio file while the image collection is displayed. The metadata identifies a theme for the image collection which can form the basis for associating the audio file with the image collection.

Abstract: A method and system enabling a user to navigate through a repository of graphical displays and maintain knowledge of the location of any display in the repository. The navigation enables a user to create a slide presentation by searching, selecting, downloading and compiling slides from a central slide repository. Graphical displays are arranged in a repository in a grid-like configuration such that a list of groups displayed in one direction and the specific displays within that group are listed in another (e.g., perpendicular) direction. These groups of slides are arranged in a set of directories and sub-directories that are linked to each directory. A hierarchy of the display repository displays the particular directory and sub-directory path taken by a user to retrieve any particular graphical display. A user may navigate through the display repository and select displays and determine their location in the display repository.
