Abstract: A system and method for remotely displaying screen files and for trapping a customized set of operator input is disclosed. A server generates and deploys a plurality of screen files to a remote client. The screen files each include a plurality of display control elements and a list of events to be trapped and forwarded to the server. The list of events may be optimized for each particular screen file. The remote client displays the plurality of display control elements and stores the list of events. For any event that occurs which is included in the list of events, such as a submit data event, the remote client sends data indicative of the event to the server. The server interprets the data indicative of the occurrence of the event, processes the event, and, if appropriate, generates and sends a command to update the displayed representation of the screen file.

Abstract: A system may provide a toolbar in a browser at a client, where the toolbar permits user selection from multiple different services for sharing document content. The system may receive a selection of a first one of the multiple different services from a user via the toolbar and may receive a selection of content of a first document browsed by the user. The system may post the selected content in a second document associated with the first one of the multiple different services.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhanced browsing. The apparatus includes a user interface for presenting an enhanced browsing window of content identified by a link in a page displayed by a browser. The apparatus may include a prefetcher for fetching or prefetching the content and a cache for storing the window. The apparatus may also include an ad interface for retrieving advertisements for display with the content. When a first page is displayed in the browser, content identified by a link to a second page is automatically fetched and an enhanced browsing window, which may initially be invisible, is built. When a user mouses-over a status indicator associated with the link, the window is automatically displayed and the user can navigate the displayed content. The status indicator may change appearance to indicate a status of the prefetching (e.g., initiated, completed, success, failure, communication error).

Abstract: Improved approaches to display information on a portable computing device having a display with limited display area are disclosed. The information displayed can, for example, assist a user in navigating a hierarchical menu system operable on the portable computing device to browse, search or play media items. The information displayed can include a menu of the hierarchical menu system along with other information. The menu can include selectable media items. The other information can be related to the menu being displayed. In one embodiment, the invention can use a display screen having at least first and second portions, with the first portion displaying selectable media items (e.g., menu) and with the second portion displaying media information (e.g., graphical image) that is dependent on media items in the first portion or resident on the portable electronic device.

An implementation of the method further allows the members of the user's network to lend, share, and/or gift resources to each other using a graphical user interface. Yet alternative implementation of the method allows displaying the member network at different prominence levels in response to a user input on the graphical user interface.

Abstract: A user is enabled to interact with a virtual world environment using an instant messenger application by enabling a user to enter the virtual world environment using the instant messenger application that includes an instant messaging (IM) user interface, generating and managing an avatar to represent the user in the virtual world environment, monitoring a sub-portion of the virtual world environment corresponding to a current location of the user in the virtual world environment, determining descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment based on the monitoring, and providing the user with the determined descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment via the IM user interface.

Abstract: A data transmission device and a method thereof. A fax driving unit converts a document into a fax data recognizable by a first multifunction machine, and creates a fax event including a fax information event which instructs to transmit the converted fax data to a second office machine and a fax number of the second office machine. A printer spooler spools the converted fax data and outputs the spooled fax data and the fax information event. A communication port transmits the spooled fax data and the fax information event to the first multifunction machine. The first multifunction machine transmits the fax data to the second multifunction machine based on the transmitted fax information event. Accordingly, data communication errors are prevented which occur between a host personal computer and a multifunction machine while transmitting the fax data.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure a system and technique for mobility operation resource allocation is disclosed. The system includes a first machine having a running application, and a management console operable to manage migrating the running application from the first machine to a second machine. The management console is operable to: display an interface indicating a plurality of selectable mobility settings, each mobility setting corresponding to a desired resource allocation to utilize for the migration; receive via the interface, a selection of a mobility setting to apply for migrating the running application; and initiate migration of the running application from the first machine to the second machine utilizing resources as set by the selected mobility setting.

Abstract: A method and system for cross domain interaction of a Web application are proposed, wherein a Web application belonging to a first domain needs to interact with a service belonging to a second domain. The method comprises: by the Web application, creating an iFrame in a webpage, wherein the iFrame is belonging to the first domain; creating a form in the iFrame; submitting the form to a Web server providing a service belonging to the second domain; and refreshing the iFrame by receiving a response from the Web server, changing the domain, to which the iFrame is belonging, to the second domain, and performing cross domain interaction with the service belonging to the second domain with the information contained in the form.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a reconfigurable tool for managing the downloading of content from, while reporting information to, various content providers and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) through a single installed instance of the reconfigurable tool. In some embodiments, the tool includes a container application that is used to download content that is supplied by various content providers. The tool also includes a configuration file. The configuration file configures operation of the application to download content from a particular content host. The configuration also specifies reporting parameters that identify what information to report, when to report the information, and to whom the information is reported as part of the content download. Using this tool, content providers and CDNs are able to provide customizable and unique user experiences without modifying the code base of the application and without having to develop and maintain their own proprietary download manager applications.

Abstract: A user maintains notification setting information having temporal periods capable of controlling, at least in part, the dissemination of information describing the on-line presence of the user within an instant messaging system or the geographic location of one or more mobile communications devices used by the user. The user may use multiple identities to communicate within the instant messaging system and/or with the mobile communications device or devices. The user can maintain sets of temporal periods for each of the multiple identities. Only one identity may be used at a specific time to communicate to a specific other identity, but the multiple identities of the user may be linked such that on-line presence and/or geographic location associated with one of the identities is disseminated based on the temporal periods set for one or more of the multiple identities.

An illustrative source device is configured to send data content to a destination device over a data delivery network. The source device can present a data delivery user interface on a display. The data delivery user interface may show a plurality of data delivery options available to a user of the source device and received from a data delivery management system. The source device can receive an input associated with delivery of the data content to the destination device. The input may include the selection of a delivery option from the plurality of data options. Alternatively, the input may include user-defined delivery specifications. The source device can generate a delivery record request including the input, send the delivery record request to the data delivery management system, and receive a delivery record response from the data delivery management system.

Abstract: A system, device, and method provide for the selection of a device to perform a service using context information for the device. The context information may be included in a request from a control point device to the device or may be included in a response from the device to the control point device. The context information provides additional information relative to the services provided by the device or relative to the device itself. For example, if the device is a camera, the camera may include for each photograph taken by the camera a date the photograph is taken, a time the photograph is taken, a location at which the photograph is taken, a subject matter of the photograph, a temperature at the photograph location, a photographer, etc in the context information. Additionally, the camera may include the current geographic location of the camera in the context information.

Abstract: A very intuitive and simple set of touch-screen input steps along with the processing of those input steps allows a user to appear to gather shareable files with his fingers on one touch-screen apparatus, lift the files from the touch-screen and drop the shareable files on a touch screen of a second, co-located touch-screen apparatus. The touch-screen apparatus initiating the transfer of files is preset with sharing parameters to manage the transfer of files to a local or remote server. One or more touch-screen apparatus accepting the transfer of files is preset with acceptance parameters to manage the transfer of files from the server to the accepting touch-screen apparatus. Once the files are at the server, multiple touch-screen apparatus may be used to request shareable files from the server.

The components of the user interface may include a file list region, a transmission target region, and an execution region.

Abstract: A file upload widget is provided on a website to enable the upload of files to a website from an account within a content management system. The file upload widget may be used to: (1) allow a user to select files from a content management system, such as a synced online content management system; and (2) initiate the upload of the files directly from the content management system to the website. In various embodiments, this may: (1) allow the user to upload files that are not stored locally on the computing device being used to access the file upload widget; and (2) allow the user to complete the upload of files by initiating the transfer of files and then logging off of the website (and/or powering down their computing device) before the transfer of files is complete, which may result in a more convenient and enjoyable upload process.

In one aspect of the invention, a method to manipulate a window includes: receiving input of dragging an item to a first window in a first state in which the first window is not completely accessible on a first screen; and bringing the first window from the first state to a second state in which the first window is more accessible or completely accessible on the first screen before the item is dropped. In one example according to this aspect, the first window is brought to the second state in response to a first determination that the first window contains a target location for the item. Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods that provide a workflow-based session manager or workflow engine for a content delivery system, such as for delivering video-on-demand, streaming audio, streaming video, etc. Such techniques increase velocity and flexibility of deploying new features and services in a video delivery system. Techniques include a session management model provides a service-oriented and workflow-based approach. As a service-oriented approach, each functional session management step can be represented as a business service. As a workflow-based solution, a sequence of steps to be performed can be defined as data, rather than being hard-coded inside an application. Defined as data, steps (nodes, tasks) can then be created and changed using a graphical editor. New services can be added by defining actions for the new service, and adding a node to a given session management workflow sequence. Techniques include a workflow engine that initiates session management in realtime.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for switching a VM screen in an environment in which a plurality of OSs operating on a virtual machine monitor (VMM), are provided. The VM screen switching apparatus provides VM screen switching so that features of a home screen or an operation screen provided by each VM can be shown. The VM screen switching apparatus provides a user interface for enabling a user to select a desired VM from a plurality of VMs. The apparatus determines a VM to be displayed as a foreground according to a user input signal, and combines graphic data of a currently displayed screen of a VM with graphic data for a screen of the determined VM to create a screen displaying VM screen switching, and outputs the created screen to a display device.

The first location may be associated with at least one of a center of the view and an option to designate the first image for sharing. Abstract: Systems and methods of multi-participant interactive experiences are disclosed. Participants located location can interact with one another and share gaming, educational and other experiences. The system includes a coordination node to coordinate experiences between participants and one or more of interactive nodes. At each interactive node there is a main display that shows shared information to each of the participants and to other viewers. Each of the participants also uses a personal controller such as a smart phone which has a personal display. Information that is specific to the participant can be displayed on the personal controller.

Abstract: Techniques are provided herein for establishing at a network management server a presence on a network. A presence associated with one or more managed devices on the network is detected. An instant messaging (IM) session is established with the one or more managed devices. The IM session forms a virtual chat room for performing a management function on the one or more managed devices, and IM messages are sent that are configured to perform the management function on the one or more managed devices. Techniques are also provided herein for establishing on a network an enriched presence by a network management server that is configured to perform a management function via a presence function of a messaging and presence protocol.
