Abstract: At an animation authoring component, an inputted movement of an object displayed in a graphical user interface is received. Further, at a physics animation rule engine, a physics generated movement of the object that results from a set of physics animation rules is applied to the inputted movement. In addition, at the graphical user interface, the inputted movement of the object is displayed in addition to the physics generated movement of the object. At the animation authoring component, the physics generated movement of the object in addition to the inputted movement of the object is recorded.

Abstract: Embodiments include a program for transferring of data from a source computer to a location on a target computer utilizing a drag-and-drop operation and a spring-loaded portal. I/O devices are monitored for mouse input that includes coordinates of a mouse pointer. Whether an end-user is utilizing the mouse pointer to perform the drag-and-drop operation is determined. The spring-loaded portal is expanded from a closed position to an open position. A screen snapshot image of the location on the target computer is retrieved and overlaid on the spring-loaded portal. The transferring of data from the source computer to the location on the target computer is executed, wherein the location on the target computer is previewable at the source computer through the spring-loaded portal. Whether to abort the transferring of data is determined. The spring-loaded portal is minimized from the open position to the closed position.

Abstract: A software module and method to allow two or more mobile devices to connect so that their screens form a virtual touch table allowing collaboration across a larger surface than would be afforded on any individual mobile device. The virtual touch table is optionally enhanced by, among other things, allowing each user to interact in collaborative environments with other users and to easily import and export information between mobile devices forming the virtual touch table.

Abstract: A device identification method, a communicative connection method between multiple devices, and an interface controlling method are disclosed herein. The devices include a first device and at least one second device. The first device includes a touch-sensing interface and a first wireless communication module. Each second device comprising a second wireless communication module and physical contacts arranged with a distinct pattern. The communicative connection method includes steps of: sensing a multi-touch input by the touch-sensing interface when one of the second devices is currently placed upon the touch-sensing interface of the first device; identifying the second device currently placed upon the first device by matching the multi-touch input with the distinct pattern; and, forming a wireless communicative connection between the first wireless communication module of the first device and the second wireless communication module of the matched second device.

Abstract: A system and method of storing, editing and sharing selected regions of digital content is described. The system and method include a software application, or tool, executable from any type of network enabled computing device that allows a user to select a region of any size and shape from the digital content and transmit the selected region to another computing device or to an accessible web data feed. The application or tool also associates at least one tag or link with the clipping that directs a user to the source of the clipped digital content when the tag or link is activated. The system and method may also be executable from a digital camera, whereby a user selects any portion of the viewing area prior to executing the snapshot, such that the selected region becomes the saved image, or picture taken, which can then be transmitted to any network enabled computing device.

Abstract: Persistent plug-ins are described in a web browser. The browser displays various plug-in instances on a current page, where a plug-in instance is made up of a plug-in player running within the current page and playing content viewable by the user. When a page is changed, a command is issued to close the current page with all of its plug-in instances. If there is a persistence indicator associated with a plug-in instance, the current content state is preserved in memory. If the user desires to return to the original web page or any other page that references the persistent plug-in instance, the plug-in player searches the memory for the current content state and plays the content to return the display of the plug-in instance at the same content state as when the user last left the plug-in instance.

Abstract: System and method for displaying digital content on a display device, comprising at least one digital content item configured to be displayed on the display device, a service cloud, comprising a server, first memory, and first processor, configured to store and manage digital content, and an application, configured to run on a computer with second memory, second processor, and user input device, and configured to communicate via the Internet with the display device and service cloud. In response to a signal from the user input device, the application detects a display of a digital content item on the application's interface, selects the digital content item display from a virtual representation of a digital library on the interface, and moves the digital content item display to a virtual representation of the display device on the interface. In response, the service cloud processor sends the digital content item to the display device.

Abstract: An object control method and apparatus of the user device using hovering gestures are provided. The object control method includes displaying at least one object on a display screen, detecting a multi-finger hovering gesture for selecting the object on the display screen, activating a camera upon detection of the multi-finger hovering gesture, recognizing a hand in a picture input through the camera, and entering, when the hand disappears out of a viewing angle of the camera, a file transfer standby state for transmitting the selected object.

Abstract: A method and system for loading data into a terminal device are disclosed. The method includes the steps of displaying icons in a user interface of the terminal device and determining whether data correspond to an icon in a defined display area. The method further includes loading the data into the terminal device if the data correspond to an icon in the defined display area and deleting the data from the terminal device if the data do not correspond to an icon in the defined display area. The method and system consistent with the present disclosure may improve the user experience for browsing and reading online storybooks.

Abstract: A structured query language interface provides access to information stored in a social network system. The interface allows third party systems to treat the information stored in the social networking system as a distributed database. The social networking system acts as an expandable distributed database that can add additional fields or categories of data associated with its members. The information provided in response to a structured query may be subject to multiple levels of access control including, business logic rules applicable to users of the social networking system or privacy limitations set by individual users. The social networking system uses a scripting language to extract the information and apply business logic rules to the data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for facilitating detection of a presence or an absence of at least one underground facility within a dig area. Source data representing one or more input images of a geographic area including the dig area is electronically received at a first user location, which may be remote from the dig area. The source data is processed so as to display at least a portion of the input image(s) on a display device. One or more indicators are added to the displayed input image(s), via a user input device associated with the display device, to provide at least one indication of the dig area and thereby generate a marked-up digital image. A limited access file comprising information relating to the marked-up image may be transmitted to at least one party associated with the at least one underground facility.

Abstract: Document exchange is disclosed between a computer and a portable device equipped with camera functionality, memory storage, network interface, and appropriate software. An image of a computer screen is captured by the portable device. The computer screen is displaying a document intended for exchanging. The portable device examines the image to identify marking indicia that provides location information about the document. When such marking indicia is found, it is translated and used to transmit a request for a copy to the computer where the document is stored. On receipt of the request, the computer transmits the copy to the portable device.

Abstract: Peer-to-peer media item recommendations are provided by presenting a selected list of media items to a first user to consider for recommendation to a friend, receiving an indication from the first user that one or more of the presented media items are to be recommended to the friend, and presenting the one or more indicated media items to the friend. The presented list comprises media items the friend hasn't rated, and is selected using a media recommendation engine.

The approach may also include the use of collaboration clients and a collaboration server to provide additional functionality with respect to the electronic information including, for example, the ability for changes made to electronic information at one location to be propagated to another location. The approach also allows a mobile device to be used to establish a videoconferencing session between two or more videoconferencing sites. As used herein, the term “videoconferencing site” refers to a location that has computer hardware, computer software and other equipment that makes videoconferencing available to one or more users at a the location.

Abstract: Digital television channels are preemptively cached based on a modeling of a user to reduce delays while switching channels. A current television channel is selected using a first tuner. A future television channel selection of the user is then predicted based on a modeling of the user. The recorded content of the predicted future television channel is preemptively cached using a second tuner. A buffer of the recorded content of the predicted future television channel is displayed when the user switches from the current television channel to the predicted future television channel. The modeling of the user is updated and stored in storage.

Abstract: A method for requesting and processing a plurality of objects includes requesting a plurality of objects from a server, receiving a response message from the server, the response message containing the plurality of objects packed into the response message, and automatically unpacking the plurality of objects contained in the response message. The server includes an object packing module for packing requested objects into the response message. The client includes a plugin program that interacts with a network browser, in which the plugin program includes an unpacking module for unpacking the packed response message from the server. By delivering the plurality of requested objects in a single response message the objects are delivered over a single communication session thereby avoiding setting up and tearing down a plurality of communication sessions and reducing overhead processing. The objects can be thumbnail images forming the results of a search query.

Abstract: A system for displaying files over a local area network or over the Internet. The method includes the steps of defining headings for either non-comparative information or comparative information within any company or government entity or within any vertical market, listing either hierarchical information or the products or services of vendors in a vertical market, including vendors that do not have a Web presence, and providing a means of soliciting products or services or other information not listed. The step of displaying files eliminates the wait for the latency period of successive server round trips after the first server round trip, saving user functional engagement time. The method allows the user to disconnect the user computer from the Internet once all database information files are downloaded, and, since any subsequent information files viewed are resident in the user computer, the current method is faster than existing methods.

Abstract: Systems and methods for remotely viewing medical images on a client device having a zero-client web application with a buffering module. The zero-client web application receives an image series selection from a user and receives corresponding series details from a web server. The zero-client web application generates an off-screen image array according to the series details. The buffering module outputs image requests based on the series details to a web server. The web server is in communication with a medical image database storing images in a non-web browser compatible format (e.g., DICOM). The buffering module then populates the off-screen image array with converted medical images received from the web server. The zero-client web application further includes an on-screen image and a display module. The display module sequentially sets converted medical images of the off-screen array as the on-screen image to stream the converted medical images.

The development platform is used to create one or more declarative descriptions in a predefined plug-in format which define the customized user interface. The declarative description is accessed to generate the user interface wrapper, and the web application is enabled to operate using the user interface wrapper. The declarative description may be in the form of an XML file implemented as an extension listed in an extension directory of a plug-in. The attributes specified in the declarative description may be tailored to run the web application on a given platform, such as an operating system implemented on a predefined type of computer.

Abstract: A mobile device has a display that supports gesture-based control operations. Computers maintain connections to a remote access service. The user desires to copy and/or move resources between first and second of his connected computers. After receipt of data indicating a first gesture requesting an operation with respect to the resource, an overview of one or more target devices is displayed. The overview is a folder level view of all folders and files located on the target devices. In addition, an additional display element is shown. This element is a representation of the resource from which the operation has been requested. The element is displayed as an overlay, and it is adapted to be selectively positioned in the overview using a gesture. Upon receipt of data indicating a second gesture positioning the representation over an available location within a computer connected to the service, the operation is completed.

Abstract: A system supports discovering available web services, retrieving description documents describing the web services, and binding methods and their parameters to data of an application document. When a user wants to bind a discovered web service to an application document, the system retrieves a description document from the web service. The system then parses the description document to identify the methods supported by the web service along with their parameters. The system allows a user to map method names and parameter names to more user-friendly display names. The system allows the user to bind the parameters to data of an application document. When the document is to be updated, the system sends a request for services specifying a method and input parameters as indicated by the binding. When a response is received, the system stores output parameters of the response in the document as indicating by the binding.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention recite a method for collaborative display of geographic data. In one embodiment, a configuration file is created which defines how geographic data collected by a geographic data collection device is to be displayed by an office application. The configuration file is used to create a geographic data file in which collected geographic data is formatted to visually convey information about a geographic feature. The office application then accesses the geographic data file and automatically displays the geographic feature in a manner which is consistent with the configuration file.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for presenting digital images using a plurality of digital media frames separated spatially along at least two axes. In one aspect the method comprises the steps of obtaining the digital images to be presented determining the multi-dimensional relationship between the digital media frames analyzing the digital images and any associated metadata to assign an image perspective determination to each of the digital images and determining an arrangement of the digital images for presentation on the plurality of the digital media frames according to the multi-dimensional relationship between the digital media frames and according to the determined image perspectives.

The system includes a data acquisition component, a power analytics server and a client terminal. The data acquisition component acquires real-time data output from the electrical system. The power analytics server is comprised of a virtual system modeling engine, an analytics engine, a machine learning engine and a schematic user interface creator engine. The virtual system modeling engine generates predicted data output for the electrical system. The analytics engine monitors real-time data output and predicted data output of the electrical system. The machine learning engine stores and processes patterns observed from the real-time data output and the predicted data output to forecast an aspect of the electrical system.

The electronic device and the control method thereof provides a user interface whereby when an electronic device is connected to an external device through short-range communication, an item of the electronic device can be shared with the external device through a simple manipulation on the touchscreen. Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for the efficient application of a system font mapping to a design. Specific embodiments of the invention involve creating a design environment for a user that is configured to display a design. The design environment allows a user to apply a design font to text in the design. The user is also allowed to define a mapping from the design font to a target font. These embodiments also include generating a markup language representation of the design and applying the mapping to the design. The text is linked to the design font using an encoding prior to the generating step, and the text is linked to fonts in the markup language representation using a different encoding.

Abstract: A disclosed method of serving web page requests includes detecting a client request for a web page that contains an object. A preloader application is invoked to execute while the object is downloading to the client. The preloader application displays a preloader message during at least part of the downloading interval. At least a part of the preloader message is an advertisement or is otherwise unrelated to a progress of the downloading of the object. A size of the object may exceed a specified threshold and/or a type of the object may match any of a set of predetermined object types. The set of predetermined object types may include a Java® object type, a Flash® object type, or another object type suitable for implementing motion graphics. In some embodiments, the preloader application resides on a third party web site.

In an embodiment, a method comprises detecting, by a parent device, an initiating non-touch gesture performed by a user towards the parent device. Abstract: Technologies are generally described for providing interactive whiteboard sharing. An interactive whiteboard may enable two or more users to control and interact directly with an interactive whiteboard interface. The whiteboard may also enable users to interact with the whiteboard employing individual client devices connected with the whiteboard over a wireless or wired network. The whiteboard may distinguish each input method and the source of the input. The whiteboard may share the content of the whiteboard's user interface with the user's individual client device, and the user may interact with the whiteboard content on a user interface of the client device. The whiteboard may detect the input on the client device, and may update the content of the whiteboard interface with the input provided at each of the client devices such that the whiteboard may continuously reflect content updates and changes input on the interactive whiteboard and on connected client devices.

Abstract: Content transfer involving a gesture is described. In an implementation, a method is implemented by a mobile communications device that includes recognizing a gesture input via a touchscreen of the mobile communications device that is indicative of a direction, the touchscreen including a display of content. One or more other mobile communications devices are located that are positioned, approximately, along the indicated direction of the gesture. A communication is formed to transfer the content to the located one or more other mobile communications devices.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide an individual with an ability to “sign up” or subscribe to an individual or entity so that they can automatically receive various content published by the individuals or entities. In at least some embodiments, sign up functionality can allow the individual to directly sign up to the person or entity. In yet other embodiments, sign up functionality is provided, at least in part, through the use of one or more services, such as a profile service. Using one or more services can obviate the need for an individual to remember sites, user names or log-in information while, at the same time provide the ability for the individual to synchronize content on their local computing device. In addition, using a profile service can provide an automatic, time-saving way to sign up to individuals or entities.
