Abstract: This disclosure describes improved systems and methods for efficiently configuring respiratory settings and/or parameters in a ventilatory system. Specifically, the present methods and user interface provide an efficient and consistent means for configuring ventilatory settings for a new patient. Specifically, the ventilator may be preconfigured with appropriate parameter settings based on an institution-specific protocol, a physician-specific protocol, or other suitable protocol or specification. Indeed, the present disclosure provides an institution and/or physician with increased control over routine ventilatory settings by pre-configuring the ventilator with these routine settings. Further, the present disclosure provides increased assurance as to the consistency of the routine ventilatory settings by eliminating repeated data entry by clinicians, decreasing the chances of error.

Abstract: An image display may be displayed on a remote controller based on augmented reality. An electronic device may be identified having playable content. A window may be displayed for entering a keyword related to playable content in the identified target device. A search may be performed for content that corresponds to the received keyword entered through the window. Abstract: Techniques for processing flexible-date queries are described. Techniques include a interface to enter a flexible date query including a description of a traveler's desired stay at a destination. A user receives a set of solutions that satisfy the flexible date query in the form of a calendar. The set of solutions can be stored in a database for eventual retrieval of a subset of the set of solutions to render to a user.

Abstract: Secure password entry is facilitated by displaying a password prompt comprising a changing stream of random characters, where a particular character within the stream of random characters is displayed at a visibly detectable higher frequency. A user selects a password character by entering input to increment or decrement the particular high frequency character to reach the password character, such that any unauthorized keystroke logging to detect said password is ineffective. Once the user reaches the password character, the user provides another input indicating a selection of the current high frequency character as the password character. Once the user has selected all the characters of the password, the user enters an input indicating the password is complete and the password entry controller then passes the password to the calling layer.

Abstract: An operator interface terminal receives individual data points from a machine at individual time points. The operator interface terminal correlates the individual data points to the individual time points as the data points are received. The operator interface terminal transfers the data points correlated to the time points to a central information system. The operator interface terminal receives a control instruction from an operator. The operator interface terminal processes the control instruction to transfer a control signal to the machine, wherein the control signal drives the machine to operate based on the control instruction.

The password protection is optional, and may be used or removed at anytime. The discs can be used in every known application designed for compact and digital versatile discs formats, with no limitations.

Abstract: Techniques are described for generating and implementing dynamic surveys, in which a subsequent query is presented based at least in part on a selected response option of a previous query. For example, a system may include presentation logic configured to display a plurality of queries, each query being associated with a plurality of response options. Sequence logic of the system may be configured to display a graphical sequence controller in association with each of the plurality of response options, and to receive a graphical manipulation of the graphical sequence controllers by which a sequence is designated for presenting a subsequent query based on a selected response option of a previous query. Thus, during implementation of the resulting dynamic survey, the subsequent query may be presented based on the selected response option.

Abstract: A method, software tool and system for communicating data between components in a client computer system is provided. The client computer system has a user interface for displaying a page comprising content rendered by a plurality of components. A property broker is provided which maintains a registry of linked source and destination data fields of components of the client computer system. The property broker is notified when a user request is detected by a component registered with the property broker, and a set of components registered with the property broker is then notified of the start of a communication phase. The user request is processed by the actioned component and the value of each source data field updated during processing of the user request is communicated to each component having a linked destination data field. The property broker notifies the set of components when the communications phase has ended, and at least one component then renders content for display.

Pictures may be selected from a library, such as a collection of stock photographs. Stock photographs are pictures that are available for purchase and use. Information about the content of the picture may be identified. The text item that is to be supplied the picture may be also be analyzed in its content. A given picture from the collection is then programmatically selected based on the identified information about the picture and the text item. A presentation may be created based on the text item and the given picture that is selected.

Abstract: A technique for establishing an IPv6 address for a network device involves displaying a prefix field for accessing a list of IPv6 address prefixes, an interface identifier field for accessing a list of interface identifiers, and a fillable address field for entering an IPv6 address. An IPv6 address is constructed in the address field from an IPv6 address prefix selected from the prefix field and an interface identifier selected from the interface identifier field. The IPv6 address can be modified by manually entering characters via a user interface. A technique for displaying IPv6 addresses involves combining a mnemonic, which replaces the digits of the IPv6 address prefix portion of the address, together with the digits of the interface identifier of the IPv6 address. IPv6 addresses not associated with a mnemonic are readily identifiable.

Abstract: A method for inputting a text and a display apparatus using the same are provided, the text input method including: transferring a message for requesting execution of a text input mode to an external device; receiving the text from the external device; and displaying the received text if it is determined that a situation in which a text is to be input occurs. Abstract: A manufacturing/process control system information access provider architecture is disclosed. Manufacturing/process control system data provider flexibility is achieved through a user-configurable manufacturing/process control information portal server that comprises multiple selectable data provides (sources) and/or data types that a particular data provider accommodates. A user configures the portal server to deliver manufacturing/process control information associated with a controlled process environment, such as a food processing plant floor or an oil refinery reactor, to the user via a browser client over the Internet or a corporate intranet. Furthermore, an extensible architecture is provided that enables adding new components to the portal server. Such extensions include new data sources and new data types/handlers.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for improved type-ahead functionality in a type-ahead field based on activity of a user within a user interface. The method includes identifying a user activity context including one or more activities of a user within a user interface. Each activity includes an associated recipient identifier. The method includes determining a set of potential recipients based on the user activity context. Each potential recipient corresponds to one or more associated recipient identifiers from the user activity context. The method includes registering the set of potential recipients with one or more type-ahead modules of the user interface. The one or more type-ahead modules suggest one or more recipients from the set of potential recipients to autocomplete a type-ahead field managed by the one or more type-ahead modules.

Abstract: A system and method for issuing and monitoring controlled forms, and in particular, insurance policies and bonds. The system generally comprises a server computer and a client computer coupled by a communication link, such as the Internet. A controlled form may be created by a user stationed at the client computer, and subsequently reported to a controlled form issuer at the server computer. The method begins with a user selecting a controlled form issuer and a form. The user enters information into fields of one or more data entry screens corresponding to the selected form, and then transmits the entered information to the server computer. Subsequently, the agent receives a completed controlled form from the server computer corresponding to the selected form that may be printed at the client computer and provided to a form applicant.

Abstract: An address bar user interface control includes a plurality of interactive segments, each segment including one or more filters or selection criteria for selecting content from physical and/or virtual locations. A segment may include two or more filters or selection criteria which are logically combined such as by a logical “OR” operation. A user may select a child control associated with an interactive segment, i.e., a parent segment, to provide a list of selectable child filters or selection criteria. In response to selection of a child filter or selection criteria, an interactive segment representing the child filter or selection criteria is added to the address bar succeeding the parent segment and the interactive segments subsequent to the parent segment are removed.

Abstract: Methods and devices provide a gesture activated file sharing functionality enabling users to share files with other nearby computing devices. The file sharing functionality may include establishing wireless links with nearby devices and determine their relative locations. The computing device may detect a file sharing motion of the computing device from accelerometers and transmit files to or request files from a nearby device in response. Base on motion parameters, e.g., direction, speed and/or shape, the computing device may identify a targeted device to which a file may be transmitted or from which a file may be requested. The computing device may request user verification of the identified device and send a request to transmit files to the targeted device. The computing devices may transmit files using networks and addresses provided over the device-to-device communication links.

Information is obtained from a website, where the obtained information indicates that one of the artists in the list is scheduled to perform during a particular time. Based on the obtained information, a media asset action is scheduled for the identified media asset.

Abstract: To provide a method, a program and a system for supporting the input of one or more execution parameters of predetermined software in an input field. The method includes: receiving input of a text character string including one or more execution parameters in the input field displayed on a display device; displaying one the display device one or more execution options of the predetermined software in such a manner that a user can select the options in response to selection of a part of the text character string by the user; and transforming the text character string so as to include at least one of the one or more execution options selected and displaying the transformed text character string on the display device. The one or more execution options displayed can vary with the type of selection of the part of the text character string.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products digitally sign an electronic entity, such as an electronic document, with a user-entered signature image. The method involves rendering the document and rendering a sign dialog. Rendering the sign dialog includes prompting the signer to write a signature to sign the document. The method also involves receiving and inking the signature from the signer, creating a digital representation incorporating an image of the signature; creating a unique value of the image of the signature and of the document, and saving the unique value in association with the document thereby digitally signing the document. The unique value saved in association with the document is verifiable for authenticity by users of the document. Additionally, the method may also involve automatically selecting a signing certificate appropriate for the signer based on selection criteria.

Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for selectively auto-tabbing between input fields of an interface based on received input. More specifically, the intelligent auto-tabbing systems and methods accommodate different user preferences related to providing input by selectively auto-tabbing between fields based on user preferences. One example of a method according to one embodiment involves receiving an input character and entering the input character into a first field. The entry of that input character into the first field causes a number of characters in the first field to reach a predetermined threshold. A subsequent input character is received subsequent to that input character being entered into the first field. An input focus is positioned in a second field based on the subsequent input character.

Abstract: An input assistance button that is repeatedly operated in a state in which characters are displayed in a character input area. The characters serve as input assistance to words, as they are repeatedly displayed in the character input area in a predetermined order. The characters comprise of alphabetical letters in English and special characters other than the alphabetical letters in English.

Abstract: When units of serialized input are analyzed by an engine or algorithm that provides a plurality of entry suggestions for competing or replacing a unit of the serialized input, one or more haptic effects can be identified and provided in conjunction with display, selection, or use of one or more of the entry suggestions to aid in the use of the engine or algorithm. The haptic effects can represent a confidence level with respect to one or more of the entry suggestions or may otherwise indicate the relative success of the engine/algorithm. For example, the serialized input may comprise characters input to a mobile or other device. The engine or algorithm may suggest words or phrases with varying degrees of confidence, with the confidence with respect to some or all of the suggestions communicated by use of haptic effects.

Abstract: In various embodiments, systems, methods, and user interfaces are provided for calculating and/or determining budget and employee allocation targets using a model. In one example, users can create a model by selecting an allocation method and a set of allocation criteria. Allocation criteria can be organized into a table or interactive matrix that enables the user to interact with the model and preview application of the model to a budget or target. Users can enter values they want to model for employees who meet that criteria combination. In some embodiments, the first criterion is used to automatically create the broadest grouping and subsequent criteria creating subgroups within the larger group.

The inputs specify text and selection of an action from a menu to be performed on the text. An alternative technique is displayed that may be utilized to enter the text and perform the action.

Abstract: A text input method is described for an electronic apparatus having a user interface with text input means and a display screen. Word completion functionality is provided for predicting word candidates for partial word inputs made by the user with the text input means. The method involves receiving a partial word input from the user and deriving a set of word completion candidates using the word completion functionality. Each of the word completion candidates in the set has a prefix and a suffix, wherein the prefix corresponds to the partial word input. The method also involves presenting the suffices for at least a sub set of the word completion candidates in a predetermined area on the display screen, wherein each of the presented suffices is made selectable for the user.

Abstract: A method and system for digital story authoring, viewing and storing is described. A display showing an imported story track, an authored story track, and a story-in-progress track. Each story contains one or more objects. The display also shows a large photo corresponding to a selected object in a story. Furthermore, the display also provides visual forms showing audio clips associated with the large photo displayed. The photo may have more than one associated audio clips. Control buttons are available to navigate among the three tracks and among the objects on each track. Other control buttons allow a user to record audio clips and to author new stories.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for delivering one or more low flow recruitment maneuvers to a patient while on a ventilator. Embodiments described herein provide methods for delivering low flow recruitment maneuvers wherein either or both of the inspiratory and expiratory phases of the recruitment maneuver are maintained by the ventilator at a low flow. Embodiments described herein provide for single-breath recruitment maneuvers and multi-breath recruitment maneuvers at low flow. Embodiments described herein provide for graphical display of a pressure-volume loop (PV loop) for both single-breath and multi-breath recruitment maneuvers. Embodiments described herein also disclose an automated ventilator functionality whereby recruitment maneuvers settings and/or post-recruitment maneuver settings for resuming prescribed ventilation may be set via a graphical user interface.

Abstract: A system and method for forwarding multiple credit applications to multiple potential lenders. A user computer or a credit management server sends queries to potential lenders inquiring about the respective information fields used in the potential lenders' respective credit applications. The queries also request information relating to the desired format and transmission method of the respective credit applications. With this information, a dynamic credit application is generated which includes all of information fields from all potential lenders. A credit applicant enters credit information into the dynamic credit application. The system then generates tailored credit applications for each lender and forwards these tailored applications to the respective potential lenders. The lenders process the tailored applications and provide results to the user.

Abstract: A taskbar control permits system operators to group application instances according to their own preferences. The taskbar control system groups application instances according to a default grouping scheme but permit the default grouping to be managed by operator control. The operator may move application instances among groups or to new groups via drag and drop commands, commands entered through context menus and the like.

Abstract: A license tracking system has been developed that comprises: a) at least one set of license requirements, b) at least one form, questionnaire, prompt series, survey interface or combination thereof that requests at least one piece of input data related to a licensee, the license requirements or a combination thereof from a user, c) at least one database that collects and compares the at least one set of license requirements and the at least one piece of input data to produce a set of compliance instances and a set of alert instances, d) a compliance notice component that provides the set of compliance instances to the user, and e) an alert notice component that provides at least one of the alert instances to the user. Methods of tracking licenses and license-related information have also been developed, along with network systems capable of executing software programs comprising license tracking software.

Each application may return one or more suggested actions, along with some optional information from the application. The suggested actions may be ranked and presented on the user interface, and a user may select an action to be performed. The system may launch the application and have the action performed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving information from a user of a computerized application. Within the method, application data is received, comprising one or more items with which a user can interact. Additional data relating to the application may be received as well. Upon receiving mouse hover event from a pointing device used by a user, the additional data relating to the application is displayed, together with an area for a user to enter content. The content entered by the user is submitted to the application or to another application.

Abstract: A communication system quarantines text and then automatically transmits the text across a network at the end of a quarantine time period. This text quarantine period gives a user the chance to edit or delete text for a brief amount of time after the text has been entered. This allows editing or deletion of spelling errors, and inadvertent or indiscriminate text responses before the text is sent to a remote user. Since the text characters are automatically transmitted after the quarantine period, normal human communications and interactions are maintained allowing a receiver to interject or interrupt with text comments in the middle of a received text message. Thus, the communication system maintains the interactive advantages of TTY/TDD systems while also providing the editing flexibility of instant messaging systems. In another aspect of the text system, characters are buffered until they form a complete expression.

Abstract: An interface for identifying one or more contacts is used to access and provide contact information to one or more interested parties or applications in a controlled manner. Various criteria can be used to identify which contacts will be presented to a user and how they will be presented in such a way as to facilitate access to the corresponding contact information. An API is used to handle and pass contact information on to requesting applications.

Abstract: An interactive application on a graphical user interface (GUI). The application allows a user to communicate with their device through a two-way dialogue between a digital character and a user profile operated by the user, the conversation driven by an XML based document and having behavior identical to short message services. In one illustrative embodiment, the user interface includes chat bubbles between the digital character and the user profile to obtain information from the user. Associated with the chat bubbles are input controls, the input controls allowing the user to enter in information. The user interface provides single selection controls, multi-selection controls, numeric controls, text entry controls, physical dimension controls, and pricing selection controls to provide a user friendly environment.
