Abstract: A method and an apparatus for writing a message in a mobile terminal are provided. A method and an apparatus for simplifying movement between slides (pages) by changing the form of a slide into a collapse form when making messages that use a plurality of slides (pages) in a mobile terminal are provided. The apparatus includes a slide compressor and a message manager. The slide compressor converts an expanded slide including a message input field into a collapse slide. The message manager controls the slide compressor, and processes to output the slide converted by the slide compressor.

Abstract: A method and system for configuring electronic stamps is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, a user interface enables a user to create or edit an electronic stamp configuration by displaying electronic stamp characteristics and receiving corresponding electronic stamp characteristic selections. The electronic stamp characteristics include stamp placement characteristics, stamp content characteristics, and stamp identification characteristics. The electronic stamp characteristic selections are stored in a database or other data storage structure so as to define the electronic stamp configuration. Preferably, the electronic stamp configuration is used to generate an electronic stamp to be applied to a document in electronic form.

Abstract: A connection component establishes an identity of a person for permitting access to information in a database. Responsive to establishing the identity of the person, the connection component may link an external account to the information in the database for providing a flow of information between the database and the external account.

Abstract: Provided are techniques for providing context-based user assistance. A request from a user for user assistance content for a first configurable element is received. One or more rules are retrieved for the first configurable element, wherein at least one of the rules describes a second configurable element that is related to the first configurable element. The one or more rules are used to identify context-based user assistance content for configuring at least one of the first configurable element and the second configurable element. The user assistance content is provided to the user.

Abstract: A direction-based data entry system displays a field having an initial value and a field location. When the user selects the field, the direction-based data entry system enters a data entry mode in which an auxiliary data entry tool is not displayed. To enter a new value for the field, the user indicates movement across the display relative to the field. As the user indicates movement, the direction-based data entry system may display an indication of a new value for the field represented by the movement. When the new value is the value that the user wants entered into the field, the user terminates the movement, which causes the new value to be the current value for the field.

Abstract: A text input is received in a calendar context. The text input is processed with a context-neutral extraction process to generate a first set of elements and with a calendar-specific extraction process to generate a second set of elements. A calendar event is created from the first set of elements and the second set of elements and displayed on a display device without confirming the elements of the calendar event with a user.

Abstract: A text input method in a portable device and a portable device supporting the same are provided. The portable device includes, a touch screen including a display unit for displaying a text input area and a text display area including at least one consonant and vowel, and a touch panel provided at an upper side of the display unit for generating a touch event, and a control unit for controlling text displayed according to a touch event generated from the touch screen, in which the control unit detects multi-touch events for at least two key icons output on the text input area, and controls the display of a specific text composed of a combination of the multi-touched key icons based on the detected multi-touch events.

Therefore, a user can check where a search term is located in a displayed page using a variety of operation input devices.

Abstract: The present invention utilizes input handling to provide enter-then-act capability for user inputs. User inputs are received, and a set of one or more secondary applications are executed using the input. A priority rating may then be calculated for each of the one or more secondary applications in the set, the priority rating indicating how pertinent the input was to a corresponding application.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for facilitating location selection. A method may include causing display of a user interface for selecting a location associated with a calendar entry. Abstract: A reproducing device performs decoding by propagating the reliability, and detects micro medium defects to correct the reliability information. The decoder has an internal decoder, external decoder and a defect detector which calculates a moving average value of a soft-input signal, acquires a scaling factor from this, and manipulates the reliability information of the internal decoder. Since micro-defects can be detected accurately and the reliability information of the internal decoder is manipulated, error propagation due to micro defects can be suppressed.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for facilitating data entry into an electronic device via a touchscreen. As a user places his or her finger on the touchscreen, a cursor may be displayed at a location relative to other items displayed on the touchscreen that is proximate the physical location where the user touched the touchscreen. Because the cursor is likely now obscured by the user's finger, the items displayed on the touchscreen, including the cursor, may then be shifted or scrolled so that the cursor is offset from the physical location where the user touched the touchscreen. At the same time, the items displayed on the touchscreen may be magnified in order to further facilitate data entry. At this point, the user may shift or tilt his or her finger in order to achieve the desired cursor placement.

Abstract: A computer program assists in the completion of text input provided by a user. For example, the computer program may maintain a list of n-tuples (where n>1), each of which includes n text strings. For example, each n-tuple may include a stock ticker symbol and the name of a company having that stock ticker symbol. As the user types each character, the program determines whether the text typed by the user so far matches any of the text strings in the n-tuples. The program provides the user with an indication of whether any matches have been found, such as by displaying a list of the n-tuples having text matching the text typed by the user so far. The program then allows the user to select one of the matching n-tuples. The program uses text (such as a stock ticker symbol) from the user's selection to complete the text input.

Abstract: An interface dial with display. In one embodiment, a user interface is comprised of a display device for displaying images which is situated as part of a mechanical dial device. The display device is located in an inner portion of the mechanical interface dial. A rotatable outer ring can be coupled with and encompasses the inner portion. The rotatable outer ring is for triggering retrieval of images to be displayed in the display device. The icons displayed in the display device portion can change as the outer dial is rotated to allow selection of a displayed function by depressing the display device. The dial also provides four-way navigation having a rocker switch integrated therewith. Resembling a combination lock in one embodiment, the dial can also act as a security device.

Abstract: Embodiments for determining a traded item's value are described herein. An embodiment includes identifying conditions for use in computing a value of the tradable object. The embodiment further includes determining whether a condition is satisfied based on market data, for example, and if the condition is satisfied, then determining the value of the item based on a rule associated with the condition; and if the condition is not satisfied, then determining whether a subsequent condition is satisfied. If a subsequent condition is satisfied, then determining the value of the tradable object based on a rule associated with the subsequent condition. An embodiment further includes computing an open profit and loss value based on the item's value. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods and systems for accessing information stored in an electronic patient record are disclosed. A memory stores a set of medical logic instructions which code for retrieval of multiple items of information stored in the electronic patient record for a given patient. Optionally, the instructions code for a rules-based interpretation of information stored in the electronic patient record, such as instructions that apply criteria in a quality scoring system and generate a score. The medical logic instructions are associated with an “intelligent token”, i.e., a character string such as |DIABETES|, |ASTHMA| or |PROGRESS|. The invoking of the intelligent token triggers execution of the medical logic instructions and retrieval of the information from the database. The intelligent tokens can be embedded into document templates, or selected or entered by the user as part of a document creation process.

Abstract: A system (and method) for selecting an entry from a list of entries on an electronic device is disclosed. The system is configured to display a plurality of banks to a user and to receive a bank selection event from the user for selecting a bank containing a set of characters. The user creates a bank selection event through an input device such as a navigation device or touch screen. The set of characters is appended to a prefix that is used to determine a current result list containing entries that match the prefix. The list of entries is reduced to the current result list and displayed to the user with the portions of the entries matching the prefix highlighted. After the list of entries is reduced to a desired size, the user enters a scrolling mode where the user scrolls through the list of entries and selects an entry.

Accordingly, there has been a problem that it is impossible to properly realize a scroll function. Accordingly, a receiving unit receives an instruction from a user operation or an application device, and a character string editing unit edits a character string according to the instruction received. Further, an output management unit manages output, and a state notifying unit notifies a change of the internal state to the application device. When a output area does not have enough empty space to display an editing character, the state notifying unit instructs the application device to shift the confirmed character string. The application device, upon receiving the instruction, scrolls the confirmed character string upward.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to prompt a user of a portable electronic device in such a way to allow the user to enter information later. In response to receiving a user input that indicates a request to enter information at a later time, and upon occurrence of a trigger at the later time, the portable electronic device presents a prompt configured to facilitate entry of the information. In one embodiment the user input is specific to a type of trigger or to a type of prompt needed at the later time. Furthermore, the portable electronic device may prepare a contextual cue in response to receiving the user input, and present a portion of the contextual cue at the later time to facilitate remembrance of the information that the user wished to enter.

A user introduces fields to the page from a palette including: input, display, hyperlink, iterator. In one case, the user creates iterators nested in a user-selected iterator, and retaining context of the selected iterator, where the system accommodates iterators that are recursive. In an alternative embodiment, the user adds both display and entry fields pertaining to a given user-selected iterator, retaining context of the selected iterator. Responsive to user introduced fields, the system automatically creates representative data structures in a database and automatically relates fields of the pages to the data structures in accordance with a predetermined logic.

If a command is input while content is being displayed, a text writing screen including information related to the content is displayed.
