Abstract: A solution (600b) for auto-completing words being input to a computer is proposed. For this purpose, a user starts inputting (656;677) a prefix of a target word; the computer tries predicting the target word that is desired, and it completes (680) the prefix automatically (without the need of inputting the entire target word). In the proposed solution, the user also inputs (659-662,665) an indication of the length of the target word. In this way, the computer can restrict (668) the words being eligible to complete the prefix (i.e., including it) only to the ones having the desired length. This allows solving any ambiguity with shorter prefixes.

Therefore, the nodes can be restored to their prior state if the user choice is later removed for any reason.

When the position pointed at by the pointing device moves out of the character input key image associated with the undetermined character being displayed on the screen, the undetermined character is displayed as a determined character on the screen. Thus, it is possible to suppress the lowering of the character input speed and the possibility of erroneous inputs while reducing the total number of keys required for inputting characters.

The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device. The device enables editing during text entry and also provides a learning function that allows the disambiguation function to adapt to provide a customized experience for the user. The disambiguation function can be selectively disabled and an alternate keystroke interpretation system provided.

Abstract: A method, medium, device, and user interface are provided for receiving a handwriting input and for presenting prediction candidates based on the handwriting input. A pen down event is detected in a writing panel of a user interface. The writing panel is expanded to overlie function keys and a candidate window of the user interface such that those features are made inaccessible for inadvertent selections thereof. Upon detection of a pen up event the writing panel is decreased in size to again reveal the features. Recognition candidates are identified based on the handwriting input. Prediction candidates are also identified based on a highest ranking recognition candidate and are presented in combination with the highest ranking recognition candidate. Prediction candidates are thereby identifiable with the recognition candidate with which they are associated and selection of a prediction candidate and recognition candidate may be performed in single selection input.

Abstract: Described herein is an IME that makes text predictions (e.g., character, phonetic, symbol, word, phrase, and number) and suggests the predictions to a user based on text previously entered in a text box. The IME may base the predictive text on entries in a table or dictionary or historical user text entries. Initial predictions of text are suggested when nothing is entered in the text box. Numeric or punctuation may also be suggested when appropriate. If no predictions can be ascertained, the IME may suggest default predictions to the user.

Abstract: A geospatial information system includes at least one client computer, a memory area configured to store at least one property of an object, and a server system communicatively coupled to the client computer and the memory area. The server system is configured to receive a first desired value of the property from the client computer, transmit to the client computer a comparison between the first desired value and at least one previously stored value of the property, and store the first desired value and a reason for a difference between the first desired value and the previously stored value in the memory area. The server system is also configured to detect a subsequent user input of a second desired value of the property, wherein the second desired value is different than the first desired value, and transmit the first desired value and the reason to the client computer.

Abstract: Tools and techniques for a polymorphic query box operating on a computing device are described herein. The polymorphic query box application provides an adaptive query box via a single graphical user interface that detects an input scenario based on the type of input received via the polymorphic query box. In accordance with the detected scenario, the polymorphic query box dynamically changes appearance and function. In some implementations, the techniques include the polymorphic application ordering web search and/or translation based on the input being received. In some implementations, the techniques include providing context sensitive controls for input editing before completing the query.

Abstract: A method for the multi-stage interactive locating and utilizing of device data in a networked automation system is provided. A user inputs from a central location in a graphical search field of an input mask displayed by an information fetching unit a designation of a field device present in the communication network of the automation system. During the input of the designation into the search field, the information fetching unit generates and displays fitting hit designations of field devices actually present in the automation system in an associated result list. After selection of the required field device, at least one further supplementary search criterion relating to the selected field device is entered into a search field of the input mask in a refinement step, and the device data corresponding to the supplementary search criterion for the required field device is displayed after subsequent start of the search by the user.

Abstract: An input method applied to an electronic device which can execute a text editing function is disclosed. The input method includes following steps: triggering a multi-function calling unit to execute an auxiliary input function which provides at least one application module when the text editing function is executed; selecting and executing the application module; and providing an assistance function. When the auxiliary input function is executed, the text editing function continues being executed. According to the disclosure, users can use multi-function operation while information input with a portable electronic device. Abstract: Some embodiments provide a credibility system including an interface portal for presenting a holistic view of entity credibility. To provide the holistic view, the credibility system aggregates credibility data from multiple data sources. The aggregated credibility data is processed and ordered to present different dimensions of entity credibility, with each dimension graphically presented in the interface portal through an interactive credibility module. In some embodiments, the credibility data associated with each credibility module is processed to produce at least one value that quantifiably represents the credibility data. Abstract: A method for associating text with image data of documents is herein described. The method includes receiving image data of a document with manually marked text and recognizing the manually marked text. The image data is then annotated (e.g., tagged) using the manually marked text and the image data of the document is stored. When manually marked text is recognized, recognized text may be generated for annotating the image data of the document and used to populate a field associated with the image data. The field may be a name of the document or a subject line of an e-mail message, for example. A method including identifying the location of manually marked text in a first scanned document to automatically identify and annotate text in a corresponding location in a second scanned document is also disclosed.

For instance, text entered in an interface defining an outgoing communication is compared with file storage information.
