Abstract: A processor in an information processing apparatus causes a display device to display a predetermined popup menu according to a predetermined operation to an input device for calling a popup menu. The processor causes the display device to superimpose and display, an enlarged image obtained by enlarging an enlargement target region which is a part of a region in an image, according to a predetermined operation for displaying the enlarged image of the enlargement target region. When the input device receives an operation for calling a popup menu relevant to the enlarged image while the enlarged image of the enlargement target region is displayed in the display device, the processor causes the display device to stop displaying of the enlarged image of the enlargement target region, and to display a first enlarged popup menu which is obtained by enlarging the popup menu relevant to the enlarged image.

Abstract: A smart device is provided with a main remote control application that may be configured using information obtained from a QR code. The main remote control application may present images of original remote controls corresponding to devices which are controllable by the configured main remote control application. In connection with a presented image of an original remote control, the display may present icons that are representative of a subset of the buttons of the original remote control. The user interface also allows a user to select amongst the images of the original remote controls to change which appliances are to be controlled via the user interface. A pop-up remote control widget may also be provided which may be invoked without switching to the main remote control application provisioned on the smart device.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for a hotspot peek mode for use with digital content that includes one or more hotspots. Each hotspot includes a link to a source of additional content, where the source may be, for example, a web page or another portion of the digital content. The hotspot peek mode may be configured to display (or otherwise present) a pop-up panel on displayed digital content in response to a peek command (e.g., a tap or hover input) performed on a hotspot. The pop-up panel may include additional content from the source associated with the given hotspot, to provide a peek at the source. The hotspot peek mode may be further configured to navigate to the source in response to a selection made inside the pop-up panel. In some cases, the functionality of the hotspot peek mode may be fully integrated within an eReader application or another suitable application.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards automatically generating extraction rules for extracting fields from event records. An extraction rule application receives field data describing the fields to be extracted (including one or more examples) and a collection of event records that may be a representative sample set from a larger set of events records. The extraction rule application generates extraction rules based on the event records and the field data. These extraction rules may be ranked using a determined quality score. Quality scores for extraction rules may be determined based on various metrics related to the operation of the extraction rules and the resultant extracted values. Preferred extraction rules may be determined by ranking the extraction rules based on their quality scores. Also, natural language expressions may be used to create, edit, or modify extraction rules.

Abstract: This is directed to adjusting the size of displayed text in response to receiving user instructions. An electronic device can display text or other content using one or more default sizes. A user can direct the device to increase a display size of text by providing a corresponding input. In response to receiving the instruction, the electronic device can increase the display size of the text and display the beginning of the text (e.g., the beginning of a sentence), even though an input may be detected in a region near the end of the text. In some cases, when the user instructs the device to increase the display size of text beyond a maximum level, the electronic device can provide an audio output corresponding to the text instead of or in addition to increasing the display size of the text.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing a swipe-based delete confirmation mode in electronic touch sensitive devices. The user can engage the delete confirmation mode by performing a delete command, which causes the device to display a delete confirmation swipe gesture prompt. The delete confirmation prompt may be included within a delete confirmation graphic or a delete confirmation pop-up window. By performing the delete confirmation swipe gesture on the touch sensitive surface, the user may confirm the delete command. By not properly performing the delete confirmation gesture, closing a delete confirmation pop-up window, tapping an area of the screen not associated with the delete confirmation prompt, or otherwise not performing the delete confirmation swipe gesture, the device may cause the delete function to be abandoned.

The provided information may explain why the option is unavailable, what alternative options may be available, and which actions may be needed to render the option available. The user may be further enabled to unselect conflicting options or re-select among a subset of relevant options to render the unavailable option available without losing the context of the current selection screen.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a screen in an electronic device are provided. The method includes displaying a pop-up window in a display area, disposed over another application displayed in the display area. A selectable icon is displayed allowing a user to redisplay the pop-up window or alter an operational state of the pop-up window.

Abstract: A navigation bar is provided for switching between modules within an expanded communication service such as email, calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. and for presenting preview peeks associated with each module to a user. A temporary preview of a module may be provided upon a hover action over predefined navigation bar locations such as icons and/or textual identifiers without actually needing to switch to a module. The preview may also be docked or pinned to a location on the main user interface so that it is displayed within the main user interface. New or interesting activity within each module may be highlighted by displaying an information badge next to a module name, for example.

Maintenance of the information resource area and the information resources may be based on user preferences. In addition a multi-passcode security feature allowing device access at different levels of partial functionality is disclosed.

Thus, a faceplate of an industrial device and/or other device-related information can be represented via SVG syntax and stored with the device. A user can employ a Web browser from a remote location (e.g., via a Web client) to retrieve the SVG file, wherein the file can be loaded within the Web browser and/or an open source software package. Generation of the popup occurs in response to a user triggered event which invokes a script referencing a secondary web page to display within the bounds of the enabled web page. The user triggered event results from movement of a mouse pointer or a keyboard event which may indicate a user's intention to exit the web page by closing the web browser window or navigating to a different web site or web page. The resulting popup is contained within the web page content itself, thereby resulting in a less intrusive popup display and avoiding the effects of popup suppression utilities.

Abstract: A method and program that improves the efficiency of menu tree visualisation and navigation in graphical user interfaces. Menu items are displayed as call-out shaped objects each made up of a call-out bubble and its leading arm. The leading arm connects the call-out bubble with the higher level menu item, the context-menu reference point or any other reference point on the user-interface screen. Menu lists are displayed as sets of similar-sized call-out shapes, which can be arranged in a variety of ways. A menu item can be selected by selecting either the leading arm or the call-out bubble of a call-out shape. The selection of a menu item through the selection of its leading arm significantly reduces the distance over which the pointer has to be moved for menu tree navigation. This is because the leading arm of each of the call-out shapes in any menu item list is close to the pointer's position immediately following the preceding selection process.
