Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that manipulating popup window controls. A popup window includes a presentation applet running in the popup window that collects data regarding the presentation. In order to save data collected by the applet before the popup window is closed, a control container embedded in the popup window disables the close window button of the popup window. The control container also maximizes the popup window to full screen for a more functional user interface.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus determines whether a medium contains specific information. If the medium is determined not to contain the specific information, the information processing apparatus displays a first window including information about the medium for a first time. If the medium is determined to contain the specific information, the information processing apparatus displays the first window for a second time longer than the first time.

Abstract: A fact checking system is able to verify the correctness of information and/or characterize information by comparing the information with one or more sources. The fact checking system automatically monitors, processes, fact checks information and indicates a status of the information. The fact checking system is able to incorporate a graphical user interface with fact checking icons to indicate fact checking results.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for managing global annotations made for data elements that may be instantiated (e.g., displayed) by a variety of different type applications are provided. By anchoring the global annotations to the data element, rather than the particular data source containing the data element at the time the data element was annotated, the annotation may be retrieved from any application that instantiates or displays it.

Abstract: In general, embodiments of the present invention provide an approach to control computer-based interfaces from anywhere in a GUI (e.g. a window, a desktop, etc.) regardless of the fixed position of the instances. Specifically, using a pointing device or the like (e.g., by right clicking), a user can activate an instance control function that allows the user to open an instance, close an instance, and/or or switch between running instances. Along these lines, the instance control function can be activated by interacting with an icon, a window (e.g., corresponding a folder or a running instance), or a desktop. Once activated, the instance control function allows the user full control over instances.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards real time display of event records with an indication of previously provided extraction rules. A plurality of extraction rules may be provided to the system, such as automatically generated and/or user created extraction rules. These extraction rules may include regular expressions. A plurality of event records may be displayed to the user, such that text in a field defined by an extraction rule is emphasized in the display of the event record. The same emphasis may be provided for text in overlapping fields, or the emphasis may be somewhat different for different fields. The user interface may enable a user to select a portion of text of an event record, such as by rolling-over or clicking on an emphasized part of the event record. By selecting the portion of the event record, the interface may display each extraction rule associated with the selected portion.

Abstract: A method for managing a communication event in an information handling system (IHS) is disclosed herein. The method includes receiving at least one communication event at an interrupt manager, wherein the interrupt manager manages the at least one communication event from an application. The method further includes receiving a selection of an interrupt manager setting in response to at least one communication event and generating at least one event notification based on the interrupt manager setting selected.

Abstract: A system to conduct a public-initiated opinion poll on a media space or in a consumer space is discussed. Simple activation of software- or hardware-based buttons or otherwise by speaking into or tapping on a device are provided and enables the public to express its likes/dislikes about anything, anyone, anywhere, anytime and merely when he/she decides to do so. Hence, this system replaces the current survey-based paradigm in which the surveyor decides when to ask what, and how from the public.

Abstract: An exemplary system includes a media content processing subsystem configured to provide a first interactive graphical user interface to a display for presentation to a user in response to a transmission of an input command, provide an end interactive graphical user interface to the display for presentation to the user in response to a repeat transmission of the input command, and perform an action corresponding to a selected entry within the end interactive graphical user interface in response to another repeat transmission of the input command. The first interactive graphical user interface corresponds to a first content level within a navigation thread and the end interactive graphical user interface corresponds to an end content level within the navigation thread.

An example method to surface varying degrees of patient data via a formlet-based user interface includes providing a high-level view of data for one or more patients, the high-level view having a first level of detail. The example method includes generating, in response to a hover over a portion of the high-level view, a hover view providing a second level of detail of the data associated with the portion of the high-level view. The example method includes providing an inspector to access a third level of detail of the data. The example method includes generating a fourth level of detail in response to a trigger within the inspector.

Abstract: Method and user interface for controlling an apparatus are provided. At least one dynamic bar is provided for displaying on a main screen of a graphical user interface for controlling the apparatus. Each dynamic bar is associated with respective one or more interfaces for applications and/or functions provided by the apparatus and each dynamic bar has a pop-up interface for providing at least one of preview information determined from information managed by the applications and/or functions and links to invoke said respective interfaces.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for a context menu pop-up interface. In one embodiment, the context menu interface may be activated in relation to a second interface, and may include a plurality of selection areas organized around a central selection area. In a preferred embodiment, the sizes of each of the plurality of selection areas increase as a distance to each selection area increases from the central selection area, and the sizes are selected such that the plurality of selection areas can be selected in approximately the same time.

Abstract: A computing device includes a display screen, where the computing device is configured to display on the screen a menu listing one or more applications, and to display on the screen an application summary that can be reached directly from the menu, where the application summary displays a limited list of data offered within the one or more applications, each of the data in the list being selectable to launch the respective application and enable the selected data to be seen within the respective application, and where the application summary is displayed while the one or more applications are in an un-launched state.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method to facilitate efficient and automated presentation of information to users. A decomposition component automatically decomposes an information item into sets of subcomponents in a two- or three-dimensional isometric space, and generates visualizations having interactive graphics that allow users to inspect respective subcomponents. Interface features are provided to enable hover, dwell, and clicking commands, for example, providing a variety of options to zoom in, or change configurations of the visualization in accordance with the users intentions or inferences about what they desire to see or inspect more closely. Beyond the use of decompositions into exploded views of the content of items typically viewed as singular documents, the methods can be applied to perform geometric transformations on visualizations of multiple windows and other resources based on content and activity to provide regularized visualizations of the multiple items.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a computer, computer program product and computer implemented method for allowing a user to mute selectively a computer application. In some embodiments, the computer comprises a computer display and a tangible non-transitory computer memory, the computer memory having stored thereon a plurality of computer instruction performing a process of creating a menu of computer applications running on the computer and a process of allowing the user to select from the menu of applications a particular application to mute. The instructions and computer program product, in some embodiments, determine whether an application running on the computer is generating a sound signal; add the application to a list of applications that are generating sound signals; and create a menu from the list for viewing by the user on the computer display, the menu including a name of the application and a mute icon.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer program product are provided for spatially indicating notifications to a user via display regions that are arranged (e.g., perimeterally) about the display of an apparatus. The apparatus may include a processor and a memory including computer program code which provide for the presentation, in a first display region, of an indication of a notification associated with a first application and provide for the presentation, in a second display region, of a non-pictorial indication of a notification associated with a second application. The first and second display regions may, for example, be arranged along the edges of a polygonal display. As such, a user may be able to quickly discern which application is responsible for a particular notification, and the user's view of an underlying application provided on the display may not be obscured or diminished as a result of the issuance of the notification.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are herein provided for causing presentation of a notification on a display based on the user's susceptibility to notice the notification and the desired intrusiveness of the presentation of the notification. A method may include determining that a notification should be presented to a user on a display. The method further includes determining a susceptibility level pertaining to the likelihood the user will notice the notification. The method further includes causing presentation of the notification on the display based at least in part on the susceptibility level and an intrusiveness level for presentation of the notification. The intrusiveness level pertains to how intrusive presentation of the notification should be to the user's experience. Corresponding apparatuses and computer program products are also provided.

Abstract: This document describes techniques for application reporting in an application-selectable user interface. These techniques permit a user to view reports for applications in a user interface through which these applications may be selected. By so doing, a user may quickly and easily determine which applications to select based on their respective reports and then select them or their content through the user interface.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed of providing a user application with a notification message. One example method may include receiving a notification message and identifying a predetermined category of a notification bar portion of the user application to display the notification message. The method may also include associating the notification message with the identified predetermined category and determining a level of importance of the notification message. The method may also provide displaying a notification indicator on the notification bar according to the predetermined category and to the notification type that corresponds to the level of importance.

Abstract: A drug delivery safety system includes a programmer with a display and a communications device adapted to communicate with an ambulatory medical device. The programmer has access to a database of information, and is adapted to receive and process the information and a user input and to control the display to provide a graphical user interface that prompts a user of the programmer to provide an additional user input when the user input requests a drug delivery protocol for the ambulatory medical device that is not already stored in the database as a clinician-approved drug delivery protocol.

Abstract: An administrator selects a representation of a logical server on a display. The logical server is stored in a logical-server database. The logical-server database stores logical-servers and specifies their resource requirements and network identities. The logical servers are deployable to physical and/or virtual real servers. A logical-server manager program responds to the selection by displaying a warning symbol. The administrator interacts with the warning symbol, and the logical-server manager program responds by displaying a message specifying that the real server is unsuitable or impaired as a host for deployment of the logical server.

In some embodiments, integrated profile simulation for dynamic content includes providing an authoring tool for developing web content that varies based on a user context, and provides for the following: receiving a request to change from a first user profile to a second user profile without requirement for input of user credentials associated with the second user profile, and wherein the currently selected user profile is displayed; dynamically refreshing web content based on the second user profile; and displaying the dynamically refreshed web content.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include methods and systems for pop-up suppression. A method for pop-up suppression in a display of a web page to a user is provided. The method includes detecting a web page request for a pop-up. The method also includes automatically running the pop-up based on the web page request in a minimized pop-up window when the web page request for the pop-up is detected. A system for pop-up suppression is also provided. The system includes a pop-up manager configured to place a pop-up based on a web page request in a minimized pop-up window when the web page request for the pop-up is detected. The system also includes an execution module configured to run the pop-up in the minimized pop-up window. The system further includes a window module configured to open a minimized pop-up window for display when a user selects the minimized pop-up window.

Abstract: A region menu is used to easily access menu items. Generally, the region menu includes a number of regions with associated menus that are located close to an initial mouse position from where the region menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the regions of the region menu displays the menu item that is associated with the region. Additionally, hovering over a menu item within one of the regions of the displayed region menu may activate a live preview showing a projected result of what would occur should that menu item be selected. During a live preview, a portion of the region menu becomes translucent such that content beneath the menu becomes visible.

Abstract: The present invention includes an interactive computer system which provides television schedule information and displays an action pop-up listing actions which can be scheduled. In the preferred embodiment, a memory stores a computer program, image data, and received data. This data includes the television schedule information. A processor uses the computer program to organize the television schedule information into a desired format, display an action pop-up for a chosen program, and schedule an action listed in the pop-up when selected by the user. Icons are listed in various displays indicating actions scheduled for associated programs.

Abstract: A menu and application utilizing the menu is provided that provides a sub-list of outcomes associated with a list of options directly in the menu to avoid multiple sub-menus and/or navigation through multiple screens. The menu is particularly beneficial with mobile devices where screen area is at a premium and navigation through multiple screens can be confusing. The outcomes may be folders in which an application stored on the mobile device can be moved, and/or a list of applications that can be unhidden. When moving an application into a folder, a moving mode feature is preferably initiated that enables the user to move the application within the selected folder without having to choose such an option.

Abstract: Systems and methods for rendering a graphic that describes multiple dimensions of performance for a subject intensive care unit (ICU) over a predefined period of time are provided. One method involves measuring the performance of the subject ICU against various metrics and displaying the measured performance as a graphic constructed of data strips placed adjacent to a 2-dimensional plot. The lengths of the data strips visually represent a percentage of patients that did not receive active treatment in the subject ICU, a rate of readmission to an ICU, and a median of the acute physiological scores (APS's) extracted from patients admitted to the subject ICU, respectively. The 2-dimensional plot includes an X-axis that represents a ratio of a hospital predicted mortality rate value over the measured mortality rate, while a Y-axis represents a difference between a predicted mean length of stay value and the measured mean length of stay value.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to display windows. In more than one embodiments of the invention, a window is closed automatically (e.g., after a timer expires, or when a condition or criterion is met, or a system input is received) without user input. In some examples, the window is translucent so that the portion of another window, when present, is visible under the window. In some examples, the image of the window is faded out before the window is closed and destroyed. In some examples, the window does not close in response to any input from a user input device. In some examples, the window is repositioned (or hidden) automatically when another translucent window is displayed. The degree of translucency, the speed for fading out, the discrete levels of translucency for fading out, the time to expire, and/or other parameters for controlling the display of the window may be set by the user or adjusted by the system (or application software programs) automatically according to system conditions or other criteria.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for providing advertising content for display in a page over a network. A plurality of advertisements are determined that are qualified for display at a location in the page. When an advertiser has stores located at a plurality of geographic sites, only one advertisement for a store located at a first geographic site may be displayed. Thereafter, the advertisement for a store located at a second geographic site different from the first geographic site may be displayed.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and methods for monitoring ventilatory parameters, analyzing ventilatory data associated with those parameters, and providing useful notifications and/or recommendations to clinicians. For example, many clinicians may not easily identify or recognize data patterns and correlations indicative of a fluctuation in resistance during mechanical ventilation of a patient. Furthermore, clinicians may not easily determine potential causes for the fluctuation in resistance and/or steps for mitigating the fluctuation in resistance. According to embodiments, a ventilator may be configured to monitor and evaluate diverse ventilatory parameters to detect fluctuations in resistance and may issue suitable notifications and recommendations to the clinician based on potential causes of the fluctuation, ventilatory and/or patient data, etc.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for an input error remediation scheme for an electronic device with a touch screen display. In some examples, a method performed under control of an electronic device with a touch screen display may include displaying a first page on the touch screen display, detecting a first input from a user of the electronic device, detecting a second input from the user; determining whether the first input is inadvertent based at least in part on the second input, and displaying a second page on the touch screen display, if the first input is determined to be inadvertent.

One method includes applying an administrator-configurable heuristic to determine whether to allow a native presentation of the UI element, to suppress the native presentation of the UI element, or to enable a reformulated presentation of the UI element. The method further includes one or more of suppressing and reformulating the UI element in accordance with a determination of the heuristic.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for presenting a prompt message, a terminal and a server. The method includes: monitoring a current state of the terminal; obtaining state description information for the current state when the current state satisfies a predetermined condition; obtaining address information for a set of applications; obtaining a search result by searching the set of applications corresponding to the address information for an application corresponding to the current state based on the state description information; and presenting a prompt message indicative of the search result in the terminal. Abstract: An out-space actuator is selected to access an out-space user interface for a document editor program. An out-space actuator is associated with an in-space user interface having a displayed document. When the out-space actuator is selected, an out-space user interface is displayed that includes an expanded feature selection surface. The out-space user interface may be used to display one or more status panes for providing status information about a document being edited in the in-space user interface. Application features for affecting changes to a given document's status may be exposed in the out-space interface in proximity to associated status information. An out-space communication user interface (UI) component may be temporarily displayed in the document in-space user interface to communicate document status information that is presently available in the out-space user interface. A message bar may be displayed in the in-space user interface for communicating information from the out-space user interface.

Abstract: The visualization of a storage access on a timeline that represents various disk access events, such as a storage read event, or a storage write event. The storage access timeline may be formulated using event data gathered regarding storage access events, such as storage read requests, or storage write requests. The timeline may be displayed in conjunction with non-storage events, such as thread events, process events, processor events, or such, in order to give a visual indication of what is causing the storage access events. There may even be a control for displaying an identification of the file being accessed for one or more of the storage access events. With a better understanding of correlation between storage access events and application operation, optimization of the application itself may be achieved to more efficiently interface with the storage medium.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for interacting with a file stored on a computing device that includes a display. The method includes causing a first user interface element to be displayed; receiving user input; determining that the user input is received for a duration of time greater than a threshold value; and, in response to determining, causing a first full tab to be displayed on a first side of the first user interface element, where the first full tab is associated with a first function for manipulating the file.

Abstract: The clickless graphical user interface provides a pop-up window when a cursor is moved over designated areas on the screen. The pop-up window includes menu item choices, e.g., “double click”, “single click”, “close” that execute when the cursor is moved over the item. This procedure eliminates the traditional ‘mouse click’, thereby allowing users to move the cursor over the application or file and open it by choosing among the aforementioned choices in the file or application being focused on. The pop-up window shows the navigation choices in the form of a text, e.g., yes/no or color, e.g., red/blue, or character, such as triangle for ‘yes’ and square for ‘no’. Pop-up window indicator types are virtually unlimited and can be changed to any text, color or character. The method is compatible with touch pads and mouse interface devices.

Abstract: A method and system to display a pop-up window when a user leaves a website are disclosed. A user accesses a website with a web browser. When a web page from the website is loaded into the user's browser, a client-side variable is set to a particular value, such as the current time. When the web page from the website is unloaded from the browser, a hidden pop-up window is loaded. The hidden pop-up window is programmed to sleep and then check the value of the client-side variable. A change in the value of the client-side variable indicates a new web page from the same web server has been loaded into the web browser and the user has not left the website. However, if a web page from a different web server is loaded into the browser, then the value of the client-side variable remains unchanged. Consequently, when the hidden pop-up window awakes and checks the value of the client-side variable, the pop-up window can determine whether the user has left the original website.
